Do fightsticks that have to use third-party software (like joy2key or other ones) have too much input lag? I kept reading about that being a prominent issue (apart from the native lag that is probably never going to be "fixed").

Also, would that mean that technically all fightsticks are compatible with the PC if they can use the third-party software to make them work? Still deciding on which fightstick to get since I hated playing on pad for a while (wasn't as big of an issue on the PSP but when trying out SF4 on a friend's PS3 a while back I didn't like it much). Was looking to get a Hori one since I've only heard of negative comments regarding the Madcat ones (apart from the overpriced ones).
Willing to spend up to ~$300, but less if possible. I'm not too sure about the parts either but I remember people mentioning that Sanwa parts were better, so it'd be a good idea to replace the buttons and joystick, or what else should be replaced?

Also, lastly, is there a huge difference between the circle gates and diamond ones? A friend told me that most KR players use the circle gates along with a joystick that had more of a handle while the JP ones usually use the joysticks with a ball on the end with the diamond ones (much like the ones they use in arcades).

Most modern fight sticks work with most games, even for something like SFV you can download x360CE which then turns your sticks into native 360 contollers which work on everything these days.

Most people use square gates. Those are good.

Madcatz starting with the TE series are k and the more expensive Hori sticks are good too.
Just dont get some 50$ hori.

I wasn't entirely sure how much it would cost as I've read that some people have spent +$200 on their fightsticks (with custom parts), and I wasn't sure if it was necessary or not in some cases. I know the joystick and buttons can be replaced, so I just made sure to have enough breathing room instead of being stingy with the budget as I do plan to use it for a while.

1. You only need to do 3/4s of a circle, or 270 degrees, to get the "360" special out.

2. You do a grounded half circle, then finish off the remaining fourth moving upwards. This means you're only "jumping" for two directionals of your circle motion.

I have an idea.

Give SPD a strike hitbox after the grab frames are over. Instead of leading into the actual SPD, however, make it do a low damage hit (~50) and cause either a hard knockdown or ~27 frame advantage (enough for a dash in into jab), and not hit pre-jump or airborne opponents. The animation can stay the same, just make gief hit the other guy up the head as he wildly flails in the grab animation.

This gives him whiff punish possibility (strikes will hit extended hurtboxes that grabs will not) and a low damage but confirmable combo ender (jab jab SPD won't even break 100 damage) without changing the dynamics of his grab game, since it will grab first if the opponent is in a grabbable state.
