Hey, /sthg/. Newfag here. I've never been much of a comic guy, but I'm considering getting into the Sonic comics.

Where do I start? I don't want this to be another Doctor Who situation where I have to research decades of history in order to get the full experience, you know?

As for my background I'm quite familiar with both the game lore and the events of the SatAM cartoon. What does /sthg/ recommend?

If you want a fresh start with good art, start at the reboot.

The current writers ultimately know it's a kids' comic. Anything from Universe that's relevant in the main comic will be explained so readers who didn't read Universe aren't left behind, and vice versa. It's recommended to read both (especially since Universe is usually very good) but if you don't you won't lose too much.

And while they did reboot the comic, they kept the same numbering. The reboot itself starts at #252 of the main comic and #55 of Sonic Universe. Worlds Collide is a 12-part special that includes #248-251 of the main comic, #51-#54 of Universe and #24-#27 of the Mega Man comic, but all of those are going to be up at any website like sonicscanf anyway.

Knuckles had a huge massive retarded clusterfuck of a backstory in the pre-reboot continuity and all of it was tossed out. Chronicles stuff can't be used because of reasons. You get a bit of lore merging between Adventure and Unleashed but other than that Knuckles is stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of how much backstory they're allowed to elaborate on, so it seems the status quo for him is to focus on his character and relationships rather than his backstory.

also I just started playing the advance games for the first time this week (on 2 at the minute). How exactly Blaze's universe was affected by the reboot is kind of confusing, since, Blaze, Amy, and Cream, apparently just woke up there and did what their memeories said they were doing. Bean and Bark are also in Blaze's universe, apparently they were shunted into there along with all non-important characters during the crossover and never left.

The Egg O' War is a salcaged Egg Wily Egg. Also, Since Snively survived the genesis wave into the first crossover, he's also on the Egg O' War somewhere, but is on the bottom of the ocean.
