Of course it does, it's a new game. This isn't madden nigga. Btw, more characters don't always mean better. Big roster size is good for marvel and kof, which is less matchup dependant than sf traditionally due to gameplay differences.

More characters makes it harder to balance too. I think it's a good or rather acceptable size for a vanilla sf game.

13 had a lot of things going against it. First of all the netcode was absolutely unplayable. Second of all people were being told and believed the real actual definition of meme that KoF is a really hard game which scared off casuals, and then there was the touch of death stuff that made everyone hate the game. On top of that for all the jerking off people did over the sprites, sprite based games factually sell less than 3D counterparts because sprites are associated with cheap low budget indie games to the casual gamer.

XIV did not get tripped up in these pitfalls. The game is going to be easier to get into, people don't believe that KoF is the hardest most technical game in the world anymore, it's using 3D graphics, it has a huge roster, the only thing we're waiting on is the netcode.

He's a very strong player and like XIII for instance didn't have the biggest community and the largest roster of top players, but against the actual cream of the crop Xian didn't stand a chance. Tekken is pretty weird though. It is very popular in the arcade, and it is popular in Korea, but the tournament scene is practically dead. Not in Korea, as they have Crash, but in Japan and the west. It's like they never bothered to organize dick outside of sbo. If you compare it to capcom or anime, personalities/players traveled west to compete and they were just more exposed to the game's audience in japan too.

How else do you explain the popularity of daigo, tokido, nemo, etc... prior to esports shit in japan? Luckily for Tekken, Nobi and Yuu are putting themselves out there. Ao was one of the few players anyone knew of in the west to the more non-tekken crowd in the west.

To this day, despite its large following, we only see jdcr, ao, nobi, saint, etc.. at evo. No Chanel or other players.
