I am doing that if there is no other option, but hopefully when the writing and the demo with placeholder art are done, others will see how cool is it and help me revlotuzionn the gaemre...
Or at least a good enough artist will deign to take commisions for less than the blood and soul of my firstborn.

Don't pay a 'music guy,' we've been over this. Anyone worth a damn in the western scene wants 10k a song.
>>
>>143940008

>>
>>143940008
Find a company that you like and browse for sprite rips on exhentai.
>>
>>143940303
No, of course not. I wouldn't commision all of my music, but I'll need at least a couple of songs specifically tailored to suit my ~vision~.
>>

>>143940440
Any specific tags so that I can search for it more easily? I tried to just browse through all that shit but it's hard to find usable ones.
>>
>>143940556
You shouldn't commission any music. It's a waste of money, since most people mute VNs. If it's critical to your vision, just license an existing quality track.
>>
>>143940753
>most people mute VNs
Out of curiosity, is there a source for this claim?
>>
>>143940753
>just license an existing quality track.
That is another option I considered, yes. It will depend on if the pieces I need, or similar, are available for licensing.
>>
>>143941028
It's how dad did it, it's how america does it.
>>
>>143941205
I hope you guys are kidding. Unless über shitty, the music is (if the dev is not totally incompetent) meant to complement the tone of the scene. Muting it seems like playing the game with only half of the sprites.
>>
>>143941618
Unless you're licensing or paying out the ass, the music will be uber shitty.
>>
>>143941618

>>
>>143945128
Same.

>>143947868
I've been through all the free for commercial use music I could find and couldn't find even one track to use. Has to be stock, unless you have some secret stash.
>>
>>143947868
Mention 3 good evn with royalty free music.
>>
>>143948195
That's why I was asking.
>>
>>143947868
Nothing is necesary, but if you have high expectations about your product you have to be very consistent in all its aspects. Otherwise feels like wasted potential.
>>
>>143948467
>>143948195
>>143948117
I'm also a solo dev that has no money to dish out for music, art, any of that shit. I just don't want the free stock music I'll be using to detract from my story.
>>
>>143948195
Or stock music, for that matter
>>
>>143948964
I don't know if Monster Girl Quest music is stock, but I think I heard some of its track here and there.
>>
>>143947868
Personally intend to use royalty free music of some description. I think it can really enhance the story if you get it right. I do know that dead air feels pretty weak/cheap so even if I never go full carefully selected soundtrack, I at least don't want to go dead air.
>>
It's a jvn, but didn't Hatoful Boyfriend use all free/stock music?
>>
>>143948941
I don't think it's that big of a deal. There're more options for stock music if your game isn't commercial. You might consider getting teammates if you don't have any of the major skills like art yourself. But I think music is the least important aspect, personally. People will at least try a game with bad music, but bad art can turn them away before they even read the description.

you're implying there's a direct correlation between an evn being good and not using stock music.
>>
>>143976491
While that poster is probably being silly, it is equally silly to say custom music is useless and that people just turn off music anyway. Very obvious case of sour grapes, gets parroted every thread even when people say they can afford to hire composers and want to.
>>
>>143976635
Yeah, I don't know what people are talking about. There are definitely some people who turn off music/voice and use their own. But I've seen WAY more people implying music is more important to them than even the art, so... If I'm going to go off what I've seen, I'm not going to side on, "music totally not important". I think it's cool if groups can get their own music. Not likely to do that for quite awhile myself, but if it's important for the game, why not make that extra effort?
>>

Is it me, or did their sprite-coloring quality declined? I'm sure there were at least gradient shading in the previous games.
>>
>>143980528
it looks the same, but given how many sprites are in this game she probably simplified things.
>>
How normal is it to get quality paranoia when working on your first VN?

>tfw every sentence must read like Nabokov
>tfw every sprite must look like minori
>tfw every BG must be Makoto Shinkai
>tfw every OST must sound like Yoko Ono

I honestly can't write right now with constant "quality control."
>>
>>143984607
Think of Ryukishi07. Not Umineko Ryukishi07, with his fancy musicians all clamoring to get in on there, but Higurashi core Ryukishi07, who had stock music.
>>
>>143984607
You're probably not going to get anything done if your standards are too high. In the off chance you do, it's going to be either amazingly good or you'll find out your "quality control" is way off.
>>
>>143984607
>tfw every sentence must read like Nabokov
are you making a loli game?

though seriously, your first project in everything tends to get plagued by overthinking
I've had these problems with writing, drawing, making games, and again with vns, you just have to start small and lower your standards

and old professor told me the first step is to "kill your editor", and I've found it to be pretty good advice
>>
>>143985204
My inner editor turns "meh" into "omfg this is the most amazing thing ever writen", I can't afford to kill him.
I can deactivate him on occasion, though.
>>
>>143985538
yeah, there's merit to both ways, mainly speed vs quality

I used to spend like 10 hours making good drawings, but now I can make something almost as good in 1 or 2, and then spend a bit of time revising instead of trying to make it perfect to start with

it's hard to swallow sometimes that practically speaking people really don't care if your stuff is perfect, but it's something I think just has to be accepted personally, as I look at my drawings and writing and see tiny mistakes that no one else will and aren't worth fixing in terms of practical time

of course though, if you're doing solo work with no budgets or deadlines, you might be fine just carrying on as you are, so people are happier to spend a very long time on perfection, frankly I would be too if I had the free time

If Higurashi was released today /evn/ would proclaim it trash and never play it on virtue of it's art being shit. Sad but true.

>>143990536
Higurashi was successful because Ryukishi was a genius mystery maker and character writer. It attracted composers and an animation studio with how compelling its story alone was. Don't expect your dating sim to skate by with art like that.

Do you ever go through so much music, art, or writing while looking for someone to hire that it all blends together and seem the same?
>>
>>144006203
music yeah for sure. i have to take a break after about an hour because it will all sound like shit.

art not so much, there's always the ones that are a cut above the rest.

amatuer writing seems like that from the get-go.
>>
>>144007215
Amateur writing too often reads like Goosebumps.
"My name is Addie, and I like horses and chicken wings, but not my little brother because he's a brat."
>>
>>144006203
Assume we'd talking about style and not content. For writing, I have yet to see someone to stand out. The average writer, which is the dev himself, is, style-wise, on the level of Dan Brown. The ones who attempt to emulate Banville, Tolstoy, or any of the "prize winning" literary elitist they've read from their feminist professor in Lit101 just sounds awkward and forced. If it's readable, it'll be enough for your Sakura-clone VN.

personality:
female: withdrawn, mistrustful, loner, probably reads a lot. might be sharp-tongued or might just be shy, but definitely not over-the-top abusive. if she yells at people it's not because she likes hurting them but because she wants them to leave her alone.

male: intelligent, scheming, ruthless, easily mistaken for cruel but not evil at heart, hides his mistrust of people by using them like pawns so as not to get close to them

The single gay option, usually found in otome games. They're almost never as fleshed out as the opposite sex routes and sometimes it's just a friends for life ending, and not in the Harvest Moon move in together and raise a child together way either.
>>
>>144116482
In my experience the problem with the single yuri route in an otome game is that it's way too often the 'friends become closer' storyline, which makes them feel less developed than the male love interests because they're just too samey.

>>144098779
I love useless tsunderes for both genders - I think the tsundere archetype is hideously adorable. Like, kind of introverted, awful at communicating how they really feel, and liable to ruin everything because of their communication issues.

For gender-specific traits...

Female: I like cunning female characters that are all aloof and mysterious and obviously up to no good, who smirk a lot and act self-confident.
I like little sister type characters a lot, too.

Male: I like guys who act haughty and aloof and talk down to people, but have childish/immature traits, and are very competitive. So, gap moe, I guess.
I'm really not a fan of male characters who act cool and are cool, and everyone loves them and thinks they're so cool...! Those kinds of male characters always grate on me.

Her Story is a gimmick game. It's entertaining to play once and worth doing for someone who wants to revolutionise the genre, for research, but once you've done it you're never going to go back to it again.

Read Only Memories is very dependent on taste. You will either find it clever and fun or super annoying. There's a free demo somewhere.

Cibele is... not really a game, it's more of an art project, if you're talking about standard decisions of Fun Games it's not worth considering. If seeing Nina with her top off motivates you, though, there is that. Otherwise, it depends how you feel about walking simulators (It isn't really one but close enough, fake gameplay while you go through someone's set narrative)

I have not played Broken Age, get someone else to review that.

80 Days is quite clever and entertaining, and again definitely worth playing in terms of understanding how text-based games could grow and change and be different instead of the same old formats. If you are SUPER sensitive to alternate histories and non-white-people and female engineers and all that, you may find it irritating, but in my opinion the game is way less annoying than the author is.

The Sorcery games are a lot of fun if you understand the genre. Some players are confused because they do not know what old gamebooks were like and they don't get how to interact with them. It's really quite interesting how much variation you can get between different people playing even if they all have to hit the same major goal points to succeed.

Shadowrun Hong Kong is fairly well regarded but I have not played it. If it is the only game on the list that you want, you _might_ be able to get it cheaper on summer sale but it's $20 regularly so $10 is still a good buy.

Objective Criticism
>BG is disorienting. It has like five vanishing points for each
>Too much SoL for what was supposed to be a mystery
>Pacing issues. SoL happens too slow, plot dev. pa happens too fast

Overall, it is a decent (not great) read. I couldn't finish it though. Maybe some time.

>Shadowrun Hong Kong is fairly well regarded but I have not played it.

Broken Age was a bit disappointing: it's divided in 2 parts.

As a player, you have the ability to switch between two characters whenever you want, but this seems to have no bearing on how the story unfolds or the puzzles. In the second part the devs suddenly decided to make it so you find some solutions in the other character's setting, though it makes no sense because they can't communicate at all.
The puzzles were also made more contrived in the second part, probably because people complained that in the first nothing was much more complicated than a fetch quest.

The story had an interestingly-ish twist at the end of the first chapter, but then they did absolutely nothing with it in the second. You get to go to the baddies' lair and expect to find out why everything that's been told to you happened and maybe you'll even explore the place... except you wont, you only got to re-explore environments from the first chapter and the baddies just die and you'll never know what was behind everything.

Honestly, I don't know where they spent all of the money, it put me off Double Fine for the rest of my life.

Actually, that with the Dreamfall Chapters dick move (they haven't even finished the game yet but they gave it away dirt cheap recently, thus making me feel like an idiot for backing their KS campaign) made me finally decide that I'll only ever back stuff if it looks like it needs every backer and it looks really interesting. For everything else, I'm going to wait for reviews, or I'll just buy it for cheap when the developer sells it dirt cheap on Steam before they even gave me my completed game.

SOUR.

If I'm writing a harem/romance story, what's the best type of MC for that? I want to default to the generic NEET self-insert since that's the audience that reads that (I think), but would one with actual flaws and character be appreciated?
>>
>>144141554
Asking here isn't necessarily going to get you the answer that corresponds with the majority of customers. There are strong camps in favor of both bland self-inserts and defined characters. Either way, some people will be happy and some won't be.
>>
>>144141554
In all the VN-ish communities I lurk in that are more actual VN (as opposed to mobile VN) and otome and/or BL heavy, they say they tend to prefer MCs who have a personality of some sort unless it's more of a sandbox story game where they build-their-own based on choices made.

Not sure what it's like in those communities that are more bishoujo-oriented or yuri-oriented. I would assume communities oriented more around mobile games are less sensitive to boring MCs. Probably the same for ero-games.

Is your story about a generic NEET doing shit or do you just think you'll get more response to your game that way?
>>
>>
>>144145374
>and otome and/or BL heavy

I don't know about general opinion, but in those specific cases I prefer a MC with an actual personality because devs seem to think that self-insert = extreme doormat.

>>
>>144147541
i think it makes sense because in a lot of otome games the men tend to be on the abusive side and lock girls in human cages they happen to own, so they would go for a doormat. when girls have an assertive personality they often appear in these stories as slut#1 and disgust men by being a whore and trying to touch the guys pecs. these women also tend to end up dead or disgraced.

or maybe i'm overthinking this.

my racist two cents is that mainstream japan is still so fixated on perfect submissive girls who never demonstrate desires of their own that they can't write protagonists as anything other than doormats because then she'd be a slutbitchwhore

hilariously a lot of their fanbase still think their protagonists are slutbitchwhores because if five guys are attracted to the MC, even if she only dates one per route, she must have been leading them all on

As far as the cage-locking goes, at least with a western audience, combative relationships are popular, so a sassy girl arguing with abusive boyfriends who lock her in cages would probably get some fans

>Many times people are justifing the existence of h scenes in vn with the argument that it's for the sales while saying themselves that they don't like h scenes in vn. Where does this inconsistency comes from? Because it's contradictory to say that people want to play vn for the story and then say that without h it would sell less or that they are necessary otherwise. There isn't any logic there.

>As far as i 'm concerned, i'm strongly against H scenes in vn and especially vn who use them extensively. Are there people who think the same here? My reason to not wanting h scenes in vn is that it not only degrades the medium but also added a distorted buissness practice for the japanese developpers who now only do this as tradition without any actual justifications.

Why do people view sex as degrading and shameful? Why is that so ingrained into our culture that a nipple will bump a rating up to an R, but you blow someone's head off and it could remain PG-13? Twitch bans every porn game they learn about, but the only games they'll ban for something like violence is when it reaches an AO rating.
Why do puritans still exist in this day and age? I really don't get it. Sex is great. It's a beautiful thing that's both incredibly enjoyable and allows us to bring new life into the world. Why are we so ass backwards as a civilization that we're perfectly fine with and entertained by graphical depictions of people being brutalized, to the point where many don't even mind showing their kids, and yet those very same people freak out over even the tamest nudity/sex?

>>
>>144199668
Are you being contrarian or do you actually have a reason to dislike it other than it being popular?
>>
>>144199738
It sure is why Ren'Py is popular with the Western market, as opposed to nscripter and other engines widely used in Japan.
>>
>>144199941
I do have quite a lot of reasons, but it doesn't feel like it's worth discussing if you're instantly assuming anyone who doesn't think Eva is a blessing from the gods is a contrarian.
>>
>>144199941
>do you actually have a reason to dislike it other than it being popular?
not him, but I like Evangelion and I agree with his post
it's not the godly work of art people hype it up to be, it's just a good thing that people elevate above other good things because its older than them
>>
>>144199971

Ren'py has documentation and a community that speaks in english so questions are readily answered, only people who like nscripter in the west are hipsters jerking off about their snowflake engine that doesn't really mean anything when all you want your engine to do is show your Vietnamese slideshow :^)
>>
>>144200606
But how will your EVN become a real VN if it's not made with a japanese engine?
>>
>>144199971
Ren'py is really simple to use if all you want is basic vn functions.

Not familiar with nscripter, but I know that MangaGamer ported their Higurashi release from nscripter to something else, so it has to have some limitations.
>>
>>144199971
Nscripter was available first but it's a bitch to work with.
>>
>>144200606
>only people who like nscripter in the west are hipsters

>>
>>144200209

>>
How do you deal with the problem of varying poses for sprites?
There's only so many ways you can draw someone standing before it starts to look unnatural or forced.
>>
>>144202608
On average a single must character has:
>3 main poses
>2 clothes
>30 expressions

That's 3x2x30 = 180 variations for one character.
Just choose the most common and fluid poses (raised fist, hands on hips, etc.) if it still look unconvincing, then your problem may lie in the facial expressions.
>>
>>144204162
> on average

since when? 180 variatons seems way too much for the average evn.
>>
>>144204162
>30
Are you sure that number seems right?
I can't even think of jap VNs with characters having 30 expressions
>>
>>144204739
Maybe N+C ones, but they have a huge emphasis on graphics.
>>
>>144204403
Evn? Yes.

>>144204739
My artist gives me 25-30 different expressions, even ones I didn't know I would need. For example, he has:

COMEDY afraid (w/ sweat drops)
COMEDY afraid (w/out sweat drops)
SERIOUS afraid (open-mouth) (open eyes)
SERIOUS afraid (closed-mouth) (open eyes)
SERIOUS afraid (open mouth) (closed eyes)
SERIOUS afraid (closed mouth) (closed eyes)
HORROFIED afraid (bags under eyes)

According to her, the secret to an expressive sprite is to treat the face as one object and not a sum of parts where I can just jumble eyes, mouths, etc. So far she's doing a good job so I don't contest it (although she occasionally suffers from "same-eyes syndrome"). Pretty sure the japs have a wider catalogue that I do. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a label for every eye sparkle variation.
>>
>>144204739
30 expressions aren't hard to come by when you consider all the variations. EVNs with no voice acting often benefit more from a wide variety of expressions than full-budget JVNs do, since they can carry more in the voice.

I would not consider it the standard/average but it's not way out of reach either.
>>
>>144205853
I doubt anon has the budget of a jvn.
>>
>>144199971
Well, it also helps that Ren'py is all in English, and there are English tutorials for it, whereas engines used in Japan are probably in Japanese.
>>
>>144206301
You seriously don't need a JVN budget to make a ton of expressions, it's not hard. It's the poses and the costumes that EVNs struggle with.
>>
>>144206748
What do 30 expressions cost?
>>
>>144206748
with 180 variations for EACH character, the cost adds up.
>>
>>144207089
Depends on the artist? But faces are small details, you usually buy them in batches of 5 or 10 at a time. 30 faces might still be cheaper than adding a second outfit to a single pose.

>>144207418
Poses are multipliers, that's why they're such a problem for small budgets. If you have a character with 5 expressions and 2 outfits, adding 1 more pose is a lot more change than one more outfit
>>
>>144207878
>>144205853
Can you show an example of the kind of quality you're purchasing, I'm just curious.
>>
>>144208261
I'm curious too, I had never heard of an artist selling expressions in batches.
>>
>>144208261
I would if I could. Currently, don't have ones on hand.
Mine was a made by a friend so it was a measly $10 for all 30. They were all drawn by hand and had to be scanned/photoshopped before use. I 'm guessing Lemma would average out at 2 expressions per $1 if it can deliver KyoAni eyes.

Serious question /evn/, how do you feel about about pop-up glossaries in playing VNs. Like the one in Steins;Gate where clicking on a highlighted word opens up the word's definition. On one hand, it is incredibly useful in scfis when it saves them the trouble of looking up "quantum superposition" in wikipedia. On the other, it may break the reader's immersion/train-of-thought as, on occasion, glossary words lead to other glossary words.
>>
>>144290428
Don't hesitate to do it if needed. It is far more jarring for the reader to not understand what you mean, although you could try to make every glossary entry as self contained as possible to avoid wild wiki walks.

If someone complains about a few digressions in a hard sci-fi or especulative fiction work, they are simply not your intended audience. Just try not to throw all your infodumps at the same time and you should be fine.

Well, I finally put out the demo out for my monster girl game if anyone is around that remembers it.

Would anyone be interested in playing? Otherwise, I don't want to be spamming the link everywhere like some kind of shill.

Though I am going to have to figure out how to get it noticed somehow when I'm too afraid to post it on my main twitter ;_;

It's fairly light in terms of plot apart from the end of the demo, and more kind of just two lewd scenes back to back with the slime girl and mummy, so don't go in expecting anything too deep or anything, at least right now.

BxG isn't really my cup of tea, but it looks really well done so far. Great job, anon!

My one complain is that the partial voice acting is rather jarring. I'd either go fully voiced or limit it to sound clips (like Jilly's laugh).

>>144305028
Thanks!

And yeah, I admit it's probably not the best of solutions. The plan would be to have things fully voiced come the full release if I can afford it. I think it was more of a hassle to try and link up random sound clips to loosely match the dialogue than it was to put together the actual voice acted parts.
>>
>>144305028
>My one complain is that the partial voice acting is rather jarring. I'd either go fully voiced or limit it to sound clips (like Jilly's laugh).

>>
>>144258586
Many Japanese engines aren't designed to run on English operating systems and some are very poorly optimized.
>>
Just finished Quest Failed demo.

Thoughts:
- Mummy a best. Jilly a bitch.
- I really liked the partial voice acting, but I'm a fan of short phrases (e.g. Dangan Ronpa) more than just sighs and laughter. It worked for me but it's going to be a little annoying when (I assume) more girls join your party and all they do is giggle or say your name like Pokemon.
- The mummy VA's mrrrr noise sounds kind of forced, wasn't a fan.
- The slime girl CG would look better blushing blue.
- Background vocals were a very nice surprise.
- This is really subjective, but one of the hottest parts of h-scenes for me are when girls explicitly say they're cumming/you're going to make them cum. They implied or almost got there but didn't say that line.
- Also subjective, but I think the slime girl would look better blushing blue rather than pink.
- Sex scene writing in general was good.
- The MC's tendency to ramble on tangents before getting back to the main point got a little annoying.
- It sure went from 0 to 60 out of nowhere at the end. Could've used just a little more foreshadowing earlier.
- The end skit was really cute. Jilly is still a bitch.

>>144309281
Thanks for taking the time to go through it, I appreciate it!

>partial voices
Yeah, even I was beginning to realise it might not work out in the long run when the same giggles and the like were being repeated throughout. But it was a cost effective measure I took, because I really wanted the h-scenes to be voiced.

I can try to expand the voice libraries as I move along, and see if I can get some actual phrases that might work better compared to just noises. It'll be finding the right phrases that'll be the challenge.

>mrrs
I'm sure that's something that can be worked on with better direction on my part too if it turns out a lot of people don't like them. Though I am a fan of the confused ones she makes sometimes.

>girls cumming
This is something I went back and forth on. Since it's all about the monster girl dominating him, and the way I saw it, there was a level of dominance over him if they were able to get him to climax while he's unable to fully pleasure them. It could be a silly way of thinking though, so I can certainly see if I can change things a little bit more with future scenes.

Maybe as he bonds more with them and their interactions become more intimate rather than them just seeing him as a source of energy, things could change.

I will say that the dragon girl's first scene does have her explicitly cumming, though by her own hand as she has him under her foot.

>sex scene writing
This was one of the my biggest worries when putting the demo out, so it's kind of a relief to hear. It's one of the first times I've ever put this kind of writing out and wasn't sure if I was going to completely embarrass myself or not.

>foreshadowing
Yeah, I see what you mean. I guess for the full release I could add little things between each quest as it gets nearer to that segment. Bad omens and stuff, to give a sense that something bad is happening soon.

This reply is hitting the limit, so I'll say thanks again for going through it!

99% of people's portfolios are soulless looking business logos so it's hard to tell if they can do something more creative.

the only site from your list that looks decent is upwork. coroloft seems to be for big companies looking to employ people and 99designs starts at $300 which probably gets you "outer glow" over times new roman and goes to $1200.

Forgive me, anon. ;_; These kinds of things slip through when I try to proofread it so many times the words all just start blurring together.

For my curiosity's sake and because I am tired at the moment, are you pointing out the second comma or something else?
>>
>>
>>144324357
"While it's true the top half of her resembles a beautiful woman, all I have to do is gaze down to where her feet should be, to be reminded of what kind of creature she really is."

Shit is wordy as fuck and does not need that second comma for a clause

"While it's true the top half of her resembles a beautiful woman, all I have to do is gaze down to where her feet should be to remember just what kind of creature she really is."
>>
>>144325683
I will agree with that.
>>
>>144325683
Ah, yeah, that flows better. Thanks. I'll try to implement that as soon as I can. I know I'm a little overeager with commas sometimes.

I know you guys shouldn't have to act as my proof-readers though. So I should probably see about getting more people to read through my stuff before submitting it.
>>
>>144326934
Honestly, it's such a minor issue that anyone can easily miss I wouldn't dwell on it. I didn't catch it the first time until he pointed it out and I was specifically looking for something. Sit down and play it slowly so you can see if things flow nicely by all means but there's always going to be something you miss.

Hakuoki also did this. I like it. I prefer having the option to look something up in-game rather than being left not knowing. The most common newbie tools currently are RenPy, which is free, and TyranoBuilder, which isn't. TyranoBuilder is more visual, and people who are scared at the prospect of having to write a single word of command in a text file flock to it. However, RenPy is also simple enough that anyone with a basic ability to follow directions can make an okay game with it without needing to be a 'programmer'.

Really mastering it takes a coder's mindset and a willingness to experiment in a large system whose documentation is not always well organised. We often have people in here who've been using RenPy for years and don't know some of its most basic features EXIST because they weren't immediately obvious and it never occurred to them to ask.

Posting progress. I updated the ML demo with the CG at the beginning, as well as a slightly better transition. Writing-wise, I changed some dialogue so it flows better, it shouldn't have spelling mistakes anymore, either.

As for yaoijam, I received the sprites & GUI.

Also, coding this thing is making me realize how inefficient a lot of stuff in ML is, by virtue that I had no idea there were better ways to do it. I won't change it because it works and the average player won't notice, but now that I went over it again it made me want to bang my head against the desk.

basic story structure, yes, but fine details I've just made up as I've gone along and it's worked well enough

it's a fan project, based off of another work, so it's not as impressive as it seems to be on the basis of actually coming up with fresh ideas, but rather coming up with fresh ideas within the confines of a predefined world

it's still not terrible I think

Even just a script would be nice. Oh well. Anyone know if Doomfest, rtil, combat player or Terrence Smith are on to bigger and better projects? A quick look at their twitters didn't seem to suggest much

ive never used mixcraft but i think people may notice if its not even, fitting of the scene or is a poor (no offense) so the best thing you can do is to keep practicing and improving so this isn't a problem. i made that in like and hour or so. it doesn't happen instantly. (most of it was me composing it in my head)

>No, though the amount differs significantly between the Steam version and unrated version. Even the Steam version has Yomi making out with another character and Ceri getting fondled by another character, though.

Kindred Spirits also had some people complaining because one of the love interests said she may have fallen for the MC instead of her girlfriend if she had met the MC first. They called the love interest a slut and a terrible person for thinking such a thing.

Some people are very fixated on purity (almost always female purity). It's not just yuri fans, there are otome fans who freak out about their main character flirting with more than one boy because that makes her a whore, and bishoujo fans who are horrified if a love interest is not a virgin because that makes her sloppy seconds.
>>
>>144519120

>>
>>144527062
I don't care about purity so much as I like to fantasize about love interests viewing the player as their "soulmate" or somesuch. They could've been raped every day for the past ten years and that wouldn't affect how I see them, but if they've had previous lovers that they've given themselves to then that does put a damper on things for me.
>>
>>144527463

>>144529449
>joined

>>
>>144529502
Depends on the character and their circumstances, but generally sleeping around even if they never loved anyone is still a bit of a damper for me. They could be a prostitute who needed to do it to get by, and that wouldn't bother me though. Having a previous lover, regardless of whether they regretted it in hindsight is a bigger damper. Barring circumstances outside the love interest's control, I like it when the player is the first, and hopefully only, person to claim their mind and body.

They can, but it's unusual for people to say 'there is' in a sentence like that, unless they are marked out as an Overly Formal Speaker with weird speech patterns.

It's not a terrible crime, but it is the sort of thing that makes one question the overall writing strength.

>tfw when a sprite from 2014 looks better than your CG in 2016
Showed my suspicion to my color artist, apparently Wing Cloud didn't bother with lineart gradient, extra shadings, and color mixings in Sakura Dungeon as they did with Sakura Spirit.

Either because one of their artist was working with Hanako Games at the time (A Little Lily Princess) or they were confident that, at this point their fans, would gobble their shit up regardless of quality.
Probably the latter
>>
>>144564318
inma working on ALLP has nothing to do with it. She didn't even start working for Winged Cloud until several Sakuras in. And it's not like it's bad or low quality, it's just simpler. They switched from detailed illustration coloring to mimicking the sort of coloring you'd see in an anime.

>>144564318
The way she's holding that fan is really annoying me.

If you're still here, anon, I loved the game so far, especially the voice acting.

Can't wait until you get more done on it. I hope there's some more dirty dialogue in the future too.
>>
>>144570708
I'm always here, anon. <3

Thanks for playing through it, I appreciate it!

The dragon girl probably has the dirtiest dialogue for her scenes I would say, considering she's one of the more aggressive and gets off on berating the main character more than the others. So look forward to her scenes!

The majority of the writing is finished right now, so I'm just waiting for all of the visual assets to be completed, which is taking a little longer than I thought. Still, it'll give me some time to go over the script multiple times and try add some polish to it all.

My main concern right now is just getting the demo out to more people. I spent so long making it I didn't put any thought at all to how I was going to market it. Oops.
>>
>>144571997

I'm the first person to say that we shouldn't spoonfeed, but I liked you demo so here's my two cents:

- put together a press kit. It doesn't have to be too complicated, just a thing where journalists/bloggers can get basic info from.
- put the link up in places like lemma, reddit, and so so.
- email the press kit to various places that cover adult games. Lewdgamer would be a good start.
- check out hentai forums that have gaming sections and post the link.
- depending on your willingness to associate your real name with it, join facebook groups

I'm assuming the girl in the grass is the "better" one since you're complaining the newer one has simpler coloring. But all I can see are grass-girl's dumb as shit rubber boob plate and lumpy thighs. Only real anatomy complaint I have on fox girl is her belly button looks too high.
