How do I do a visceral on Cleric Beast? I heard you shoot him in the face but no matter when I shot him (downswing of his attack like normal enemies, as he runs, when he stands up straight) it never worked. When exactly do you do it? I can beat him but rolling around and hitting him until he dies, but viscerals are much more impressive I think and I haven't gotten them entirely down for bosses yet.

The parry animation is too long. You can it someone with an ultra great sword, have them get stunned, still get the parry, have them come back from the stun and get the riposte. Also, they need to fix the hornet ring. It does way too much damage. It completely trivializes fights now.

I found a """use""" for backsteps. You have to use them before the enemy even thinks he's going to attack, so that way you compensate for lag and don't get hit. So basically you spam them randomly and if they attack you do a running attack.

You can also of course backstep towards them and do a running attack to surprise less intelligent adversaries.

Okay. I was able to counter the Painting Guardians with drawing aggro and then parry-riposting them on the catwalks (and even knocking one or two off with a well-placed headshot). I could counter the Gargoyles and Batwing Demons by not using that crutch Lighting Spear that obviously won't work so good against something else that's also using lighting. I even had the forethought to pull out the Eagle Shield because I recognized that its high lightning damage reduction would let me shrug off most of their attack damage. Now, I'm kinda stuck thinking of a solution that doesn't involve running like a madman and praying they don't knock me off those buttresses with those giant lance things.
