Ike's would do more damage, yes, but Ephraim's fair would have more range. The spear is definitely longer. Besides, it'll still be fine dealing less damage, having the animation in front of you instead of behind you itself is very good.

The way hitboxes work on it make it look like he swings another human instead of a sword (those hitboxes are too big, man). Also, Ike's BAir is good because it's fast and has high knockback. Ryu makes rage look really stupid because you can be winning neutral more often against him, then you get hit by a confirm or leave yourself open and then get killed by a frame 1 invincible move that kills the entire cast sub 100% and most lightweights at like 60%.

Not him, but while I don't have an issue with Melee/Brawl ledges, ledge game is a pretty big reason why a lot of the cast can't really be viable. Falcon would probably be top 3 in Melee if his recovery wasn't so exploitable.

Melee ledges at least are pretty retarded tho. PM ledges are the best where getting up from the ledge doesn't hog it for like 10 years even though your character isn't actually on the ledge anymore. PM's ledges also don't give you invincibility after a certain amount of times grabbed so you can't just ledgestall which was a pretty serious issue in early Brawl.

There are people modding Smash 4 and changing mechanics but as far as I know there is no unified dev team working on it nor has anyone modding the game really shown to know how to balance a game properly, rather they're just making every single character retarded.
