It's pointless to put EE on most weapons because you actually use the rolls to reposition, with EE you move too far, and it's even more pointless on HH since walk even faster than all the other weapons, fast enough to dodge things by walking out of the way.
When you actually need to dodge you'll be using iframes, not distance.

So I just fought Ostgaloa in the gathering hall to get into high rank. It took me about 23 minutes to do solo (95% solo since I dced early on). Is that a normal time? I felt like that took way longer than it should have. But that could be because I'm not entirely sure what to do in the fight as I was mainly focusing on his tentacle heads.

Trying to search up much info on the fight itself doesn't seem very easy to do either as not much about it is really talked about.

Monster pages really should have more information. Especially their drops and the rates, that's such an important part of the game and everyone playing it up until now has had to rely on the internet to find out quickly where to get what they need. Just put that info in the game. Same for gatherable items but putting the rates for each node would be a bitch. They could just have an info page for every zone and then a list of every item that can be gathered in that zone for each rank range.

Diminishing returns, the longer it takes the less effective you become. Element is the better choice in the long run. It doesn't really matter though, the time difference isn't going to be so drastic that it makes a ton of difference in a normal hunt. Not everything has some insane weakness like gravios where water is basically anitmatter to it and rapes the shit out of it better than anything else.

Frontier has some interesting...liberties taken in regards to Swaxe. Don't know the entire moveset but one of the styles at least can power up axe mode and there's also some parrying stuff.

Axe and sword both need more moves that help define their own roles and encourage frequent switching between them, so it's not just about pressing the same fucking buttons with the occasional side hop; as they are now the two modes have some really simple movesets. Something also has to be done about power phials practically always being the definitive one to have.

If it weren't for the quickdial AEDs and mashable shield thrusts I'd say CB would've done a reasonable job at defining its modes in 4U, too bad it gained a shit rep. I have no idea how it plays like in MHX/Gen apart from hearing Guild sucking massive dicks. Bushido/Adept on paper sounds nice though, just guardpointing under a different name when the situation calls. Haven't heard shit about the arts either, guess I should look up speedruns

The three Swax styles are split between third gen moveset + some nice extras for Earth, enhanced axe and mobility/evasion on Heaven, then enhanced sword and defense on Storm.
No one uses Earth style.

I use more Heaven personally, and having that fade slash with iframes at your beck and call is glorious, though I should set up something to work with Storm as well as get better with the parry.

Don't be afraid to sheathe your LBG, it's got one of the fastest sheathe animations in the game and you're obviously more mobile when your weapon isn't out.
Get a feel for the range of its farts and ensure that you're never that close to Black Gravios. There's no real advantage to you being that close anyway. Also take into account that the farts are always after a beam, so you do accidentally time a roll badly or something.
Once it starts doing that attack, try to circle around Black Gravy. I'm pretty sure it cancels the attack if you're behind it.

And again, Evade Extender (or Peak Performance) might come in handy.

A long series of tutorial quests. Not nearly as bad as in 3U, which had like five hours of just fucking tutorial, but pretty bad. After that, depending on how you play it, either an eternal grindfest or an episodic action game that starts with hack and slash dps races, moves to something like if Dark Souls bosses had twenty times the health and finally for the third and largest chunk of the game is much harder than that. If you've played the souls games you have a good idea of how combat works on a basic level. You can roll to dodge, get a small number of iframes (can be enhanced with some armours), have two or three buttons to attack that can be hit in different sequences for different combos, and some weapon types get a shield you can block with. Pretty simple at its core. That said it's balanced completely differently from souls and also has an actual difficulty curve where it starts easy and ends hard instead of being about medium start to finish, so don't go in expecting it to be like souls or you'll be disappointed.

Like, armour loadout? It'll change a lot throughout the game and isn't worth thinking about too much for the first part. Good starting weapons are greatsword, hammer and bow though, at least in my opinion, for intuitive simplicity in their use and teaching you skills that will be good for most weapons.

Finish solo play first, at least up to solo high rank. You should be done with solo by the time you do multi g rank. Other than that, if a monster starts falling asleep don't attack it, as the next attack that hits it will get a damage multiplier and you want that to be the best hit possible; Give people time to set up bombs. Likewise, if someone mounts a monster stop attacking, as you will usually dismount them. Try not to hit other players, because you'll trip them.

Very, it's about the sixth best weapon in speedruns and probably the single most versatile. It's also often recommended to beginners but I don't agree with that assessment because it thrives on the ability to play extremely aggressively, and most new players will want to hang back and feel out what a monster is doing rather than attacking constantly and getting hit by things they don't expect. That's also why I think GS is a great weapon for beginners, because if you're using it right you're running in when you see an opportunity, hitting the monster with a draw attack then running away again. You can play it better once you know how to anticipate openings and safe places to stand, but that's the basic MO.

No but you can carry around a cannon with a bayonet and a shield that shoots explosive shells or a gun that shoots magic bolts.

From what I read FU have more content, but it is also harder because hitboxes. 3rd seems a bit boring with the fan translation, losing a lot of text and information doesn't seems a good way to start on the series. About the tri I couldn't find much information, can you guys help me decide?
