So, uh, how does the guest system work? You earn alliance points like normal but you don't get the final reward is all? Or are there other big downsides to being a guest?
>>
>>143404870
only 600 scouting missions, get to it! :^)
>>
>>143404870
no real big downsides to guesting, just that you don't get rewards from the campaign you're homed in.

150k AP isn't that much if you are playing with a decent group of people.

pvps kind of no fun, sieges dont last very long. its not like daoc where you slowly watch the gates come down and mount various sorties outside to stop it or try to sneak into the keep. If a keeps being sieges and you arent already there its likely to be down before you even arrive

destro/dw is generally the sorc meta dps weapon setup. execute and overload on your dw bar.

there is contention for putting your execute on your destro bar, but that's just for proccing kena, so if you don't have it keep it on your dw bar.

The Lusty Stormcalling?
Never heard of it.
Also screw Zeni for putting it in and their dumbass Colonel Sanders. Like, I get it, it's a popular thing with Elder Scrolls fans but short of putting it in a daedric realm where time isn't linear there's no excuse for that or any other future books being found in ESO.
>>
>>143453368
As far as I know, Morrowind started it with The Dragon Break Re-Examined, and it's due to some fuckery with Hermaeus Mora.
>>
>>143453368
According to Zenimax, the book written by the character in Morrowind was not an original work, but was based on earlier lost works.
>>
>>143446525
Set bonuses beat any dropped armor, at least at non-vet levels.
>>
>>143459936
And that's an awful quarter-assed attempt at a retcon since you straight up talk to the author, witness his eccentricity.
>>
>>143453368

More people will find it amusing than irritating, such is life.

Even as someone enjoys lore, though, this doesn't bother me. While the world of ESO isn't exactly consistent, you can tell the developers had a lot of fun with it.

Seeing all the silly little details around the world, all of the questlines and lorebooks that border on satire - it makes me smile. It's been a while since I played a game with such a lovingly crafted and comfy world.

That's enough for me.

So me and a friend were talking. How would you go about doing a self-imposed hard mode for ESO?

We were thinking only being able to use items you craft, skipping the first alliance zone and going straight to the second, and making death permanent. You die, you delete.

Anything else we could do?

I played this at the start of the console relaunch.
I was actually really into it but got bored at cap because the gear progression was farming one 4 man over and over for a hat.

Has that aspect improved? And is there more difficult things to do at cap now?
>>
>>143504673
must be stam based
>>
I've seen no convincing evidence that Nightblade is actually any fun or useful in PVE
>>
>>143509467
Every game has that one class that the tryhards flock to because on paper it's the DPS/Gank machine, and every time there's a class that can perform the role better while being twice as fun.
>>
>>143509467
its the second most asthetic class after sorcerer, and since sorcerers should not be stam based (because thats just stupid sounding) its the default stam class.

templars are silly with their class icon, who would want that signifying them? and dragon knights are just stupid meant for people whos first TES game was skyrim.

I guess 'bored' would be a more prudent description. I just want to speed around like an idiot and hit things.

I think I just hate having to use a "buff" bar. Where you have to switch weapons, recast your buffs, drop arrow barrage, then switch back, instead of just using shit.

Maybe it'll get better when I get caltrops instead of Arrow Barrage, since I won't have to recast it constantly.

And I guess I could just do something like this and drop other shit.

And an unrelated question - Overload isn't good for a stam build, right?

bunch of stupid questions from a brand new player - can I learn all professions on a single character? if so, will I gimp my combat skills by investing points in crafting instead? or will I have enough points to do both reasonably well?

or will I need a dedicated crafting alt?

and is tesog guild ded? if I understand correctly I need to be in a guild to do trading?

and most important question of all - why is game chat all germans and one polish guy?
>>
>>143582406
The guilds were created a couple days ago, it's too soon to call them dead.

I guess you're looking at the zone chat, so maybe those people are talking to each other, most of us have it muted because it's nothing but guild spam.

You can trade without a guild, you can join up to 5 guilds, 1 of them being a trading guild is nice, as you can sell and buy stuff at any bank that way.
>>
>>143582406
Yes you can do all professions, you get a bunch of skill points from quests and skyshards, it's just about enough to let you keep up with every craft and still have points for your main skills I think? To make a dedicated crafting alt you'd have to go through all the quests and skyshard collecting you do on your main character. Most important thing to do early on is to always be researching something.

Tesog guild has like 8 members maybe? not enough to allow a trader, you'll need to find another guild.

I have no idea on that last one

Starting an all-crafter at low levels will be extremely difficult if not impossible. I have a lvl 20 doing just smithing, clothier and woodworking and I'm short on skill points.
If you want to be able to craft for yourself at low levels the only way is to be leveling 2-3 alts at the same time the way I did. I got one character to about level 25 with 50 in provisioning and alchemy and respecced him as a dedicated provisioner, alchemist and bank alt.
>>
>>143582406
You can level all crafting skills and max every passive in them and still have more than enough skill points for one role (in the end). You might run out of skill points depending on how fast you level your crafting. It would be best to focus on progressing through areas doing the quests that give skill points and gathering the skyshards. Once you have your needed class, weapon and armor skill lines maxed and all the skills you need you start focusing on your crafts.

Having lots of extra skills available is convenient if you want to switch things up but really it's not necessary. If you play both PvE and PvP you'll be needing more skills available. Especially for PvP since a build for fighting solo is different from fighting in a small group which is different from fighting in a 20-man raid etc.

I guess I won't be investing in all of them then.

Right now I'm looking at focusing on alchemy and provisioning because potion crafting has been good in every mmo I've played and provisioning because cooking in WoW, or is armor/weapon crafting more beneficial in eso?
>>
>>143585383
I'd try to get all the main crafting skills to 32 at the very least, it unlocks the ability to refine raw materials and get gold quality items sometimes. That's how I made all my money which I used to buy up a bunch of high end crafted gear. Hirelings are kind of nice too but you almost need to make 7 alts with 3 in every craft to get the most of that I think.
>>
>>143585383
Alchemy and provisioning are universally used since since they have passives that increase the duration of potion and food effects. Potion buff can last the entire potion cooldown with the passive (or longer) and legendary foods won't have to eaten as often. Making your own food and potions is better than buying them.

Equipment crafting is a way to make gold though not by crafting equipment but from refining raw mats to get legendary improvement mats. You can refine without leveling crafting but the passive which increases the chance the get improvement mats means increasing gold gains so you want that. The crafting hirelings do sometimes bring you legendary mats so that's a bit more gold.

If you ever intend to actually craft equipment, you should start researching items straight away because researching every trait in a profession takes a year.
>>
>>143585383
Make your main a smith, clothier and woodworker and start leveling early.
The most time consuming thing to level is smithing, clothing and woodworking trait research. It takes months to research everything even if your are very efficient at it. You also need this crafter to be a vet level character to be able to craft the end game gear because they need access to high level areas for set bonuses. This crafter will also need a large investment in motif books to craft all motifs.
>>
>>143587424
Can't you send the mats to the crafter?
>>
Minecraft
>>
>>143589131
It's not the mats, it's access to special crafting locations that allow you to craft gear with special bonuses. These are essential for end-game gear.

The three equipment crafting skills should all be leveled. Do this while deconstructing as you go. You should keep your material skill high enough to make gear for you. The craft sets are pretty good.

There are other things that are good such as the assistants that at 3/3 can bring you some nice stuff, but dont invest in this early on. Material cost reduction for improving is VERY useful because it lets you upgrade things you find. Dont invest in this while leveling though, making stuff you craft blue is cheap, the reduction more comes into play when you are wanting to fully upgrade stuff later on

Provisioning levels itself. Make yourself blue food. Dont worry about any of the other skills except the asssistant when you can max it. Extra food items per craft or longer duration are not needed while leveling because mats are cheap from the guild trader, those are for when you are doing really high end stuff.

Enchanting is a bitch to level. Deconstruct glyphs you find and save runes you find, but honestly dont try to level this as you go. The store bought glyphs are good enough. The way to level this is
Do not read any books while leveling
Just deconstruct shit untill you are like enchanting 30something
Learn all the traits on all those runes you were saving up
Beg borrow or steal glyphs to deconstruct
Once you are at enchanting 45 go read every bookcase in tamriel untill you find all 5 +enchanting books

Alchemy is good but not needed when leveling, its also easy to level up. Save mats, but you dont need to invest points into it while leveling, food will carry you. Later on when you have the points to spare you can max it quickly if you've been saving waters and plants you find.

>>
>>143589131
>crafting alt

you get enough points to max every craft, have a full build with points to spare for options.

Making a 'crafting alt' is tedious and a hassle since they cant go everywhere.

Just be smart with the points, only spend points early on that you need to keep leveling the crafts or which you gain great benifit from (being able to craft your sets when you are already heavy into research is a wise point investment, for example, trying to make huge stacks of mid level purple food 4 at a time is just 4 wasted points)

I don't think this franchise is your cup of tea. Khajiits use the word "sencehe" to mean a variety of things. It is used as "senche" and "senche-raht" to refer to two of the seventeen distinct "breeds" of Khajiit. They use the term "senche-tiger" to refer their more catlike cousins of lesser sentience that aren't Khajiits.

If you're doing all the quests, you should be several levels above the content such is the xp from questing these days. Did you skip the starter island?
Also, if you're fighting mobs more than 5 levels above you or below you, you actually get decreased xp.
Also your abilities will miss their targets more often when against higher level mobs. It's not much at 1 or 2 levels, but at 5 it's significant.

It's just a matter of timing. You have to scout out patterns and move/pickpocket fast. Also invest in Thieves Guild perks.
Also if you don't have 2.8k to pay off a guard you shouldn't be in Abah's Landing, and you don't have to go into town to pay off money as Thieving Dens have merchants, and you can make enough bounty-paying money through fighting shit out in the wilderness

Game used to be harder but everyone and their mother bitches about either getting their shit kicked by the first boss in the Fighter's Guild quest line.

There where once a time when veteran rank enemies were bloody brutal, a few patches after release, where I had to play with a friend because while being able to take out an enemy 1 vs 1 was manageable, 2 or more and I'd get my shit kicked it in mere seconds. Enemies these days are a joke, and even bigger joke with champion points.

I wish there was a way to select that you'd play the game without champion points at all, in very much the same way you can play PvP without champion points. How great wouldn't it be to go trough the veteran dungeons and know that your ragtag group of strangers may not be able to finish this dungeon despite everyone having pretty good gear because suddenly non of you have that 25% extra magicka regen any more.
> But you can queue without any champion points already!
Yea but getting carried by people who have their CP enabled takes away the challenge.

If you have to explain it ingame just make the bloody Price of Plot come up with a bullshit excuse to steal back your soul temporarily, Molag Bal is basically a horned Deus Ex Machina. Just call it "Shoul Shriven" mode enabled and give people a bigger chance to drop better gear.

Its solo pve is kind of like a watered down TES game, it does feel very much like a hybridized single player/mmo in this sense. If you enjoy TES games you may well like it. There are traces of what could be a really good experience, like with the justice system. Its one sided and gimmicky, but how many mmos let you ransack peoples houses in towns like you can in a TES game? When i first started playing i spent a couple days barely even going out of town, just running around stealing stuff.

Grouping is kind of fun they have made healing a lot better than it is in typical 3d mmos, though group dynamics are kind of simplistic, and it has a simplistic auto dungeon finder. While dissapointing in its complexity its matched by streamlined experience and as a no hassle low entertainment value sort of thing its certainly not really 'bad' just kind of mundane.

PVP is like a shitter version of the standard daoc style faction war. There is less sense of distance than in a proper rvr zerg game due to the limited ranges and movement abilities in the game, so there areno epic standoffs like you might have encountered in daoc or planetside, or even WAR. Sieges are also short keep flipping affairs and not multi-hour long sieges like daoc used to see. Mounts and the general mobility of players in cyrodill kind of ruin the pacing i think, theres no real strategy to it either, everything is connected in a very predictable straightforward way. That said its a good bit of entertainment if thats not the main thing you are playing the game for.

Honestly in all regards It is mediocre, but it is not terrible in any way either (apart from some lore rape but honestly TES lore is literally in character to say you are modding something in with the creation kit if you have obtained CHIM so you cant be too critical). Its a good place to live in if you are a fan of TES. Im an mmo tripple-expert, at least. and im playing it for now. Get it for $15 somewhere.

>>143615317
reee
fucking ree sir.

I might allow for something like, a total CP amount that is capless, and then each individual character has to regain cp by playing, and the further that character is away from your highest CP score, the faster they earn CP, so you can gain massive early boosts for that character, but cant quite make it as powerful as your main unless you put a lot of effort in to catch it up.

Alts lead to metagaming which is cancer.

How does the scaling work?
>>
>>143620190
>How does the scaling work?

As far as i know It scales perfectly up to 10 levels different, and then tapers off.

So 26 at 36 should be just fine, but at 37 you will start to get some penalty. How much i dont know. Ive read that people who only play bwb and thus are being scaled at all times just make a new set every 10 levels
>>

>>143620190

Penalty starts as early as the next two levels, anon here >>143621414 is wrong, you won't lose much power really, but you won't be exactly optimal.

You can totally keep that gear until lvl 50 and merely upgrade your weapons on the way.
>>
>>143622572
>Penalty starts as early as the next two levels,

Are you sure? I can only find two scaling descriptions on the internet. A very old one where set stats and food dont even scale (other than % based bonuses), and one describing scaling with a 'level bracket' system that says 10 levels is where it starts falling off

where are all the mechanics of this documented?
>>
>>143622950
I'm just talking from experience, i re roll many characters to play in BWB and you usually want your gear to be your same level to get the most out of your build since if you outlevel your gear your stats will worsen.
