why do all modpacks run like shit on my pc? i have 8gb ram, 280x, and an i5 4460. even when i have above 60fps, its still insanely fucking stuttery

I decided to try ICYTOO Paul Dano version.

I have never used IC, ever, in all the years its been alive for the same reason I didnt like buildcraft at first. Basically NEI didnt exist and I couldnt deal.
But more recently in the past few years where NEI exists and stuff, I still didnt use it due to RF being non-bullshit shenanigans, and I dont like other power systems.

Anyway, I tried it. Placed down a machine and threw power at it with a converter.
It exploded, spooking my guts off.
I got the weakest cable and tried again. It worked but was pretty fuckin' slow.
Upgrades and stuff added, tried a new cable to stop it from shitting itself only to explode again, spooking my guts off.

Oh well, nothing gained or lost. I really just wanted to use the NUCLEAR stuff, since Big Reactors is babby mode, and the Science one from back in the day is Ded.

Next run Im probably going to try Magenticraft and Nuclearcraft or whatever it's called.
Maybe when hell freezes over Ill try Reikafurshit's mod

depending on your monitor, having a higher (60+) framerate is not really any benefit. turn on Vsync. it might save some performance and your hardware a little bit.
lastly, what packs are you using? some, like Infinity Evolved, have a lot of shitty bloat that you can take out.

i can't stand v-sync. i hate input lag. also my system is barely even being used. (low cpu/gpu usage)

Agrarian Skies, Agrarian Skies 2, Ultimate Questpack, IE:S, and IE.
vanilla minecraft with optifine runs 200+ fps and actually feels smooth. these modpacks run at around 60-100 fps average and they have micro stutters to the point where it doesnt even feel like 60fps

and this is reason #1 why Thaumcraft is the most bothersome mod out there. At least with Blood Magic, you UPGRADE your orb instead of tossing it in the trash for the new shiny. Botania too; once you get mana flow you can build whatever you want given you have the mana for it.

Once I get my Technomancer's Scepter, no longer will I have to be running around for nodes to fill my wand. I'll just have a Resonant capacitor in my pocket to fill it for me.

Go with 1.9. The Reddit community is large and with the fast push for 1.9 there, it will eventually be the main mod version. If you mod for 1.7, you eventually need to relearn the API severely to get to 1.8.

This isn't fucking news to anyone but people who are completely new to curse or are brand dicksuckers, moderation in anything under Curse's grip has always been shit before they were even involved with minecraft.

Directly hooking a tesseract up to the reactor input isn't giving water fast enough for even one turbine. In 1.9 there's a bug that if a piston retracts with an entity within it, and no other place to "eject" the entity, it will pull the entity through it. So using a system of pressure plates/tripwire, Monostable Circuits, and Pistons (read: not sticky) you can move entities (players, mobs, drops) around at rather great speeds.

Using Translocators, you can probably get the mobs out of the system fairly rapidly, so you do not hit the spawner cap.

Pipes work fine. Hitbox is still the same as a normal block, just for whatever reason the mod author changed it from a normal furnace to a fucking flower.

Have you tried Utility Mobs? That has some turret type things and golems.
I found a couple of other similar ones a bit back as well - one just called Sentries, which add these pillar block things that have different AOE's. There was also the TF2Sentry mod, but I couldn't figure out how to config the turret properly, and it didn't fit the style of my pack

You cannot remove Minetweaker/ModTweaker from IE it requires them for Normal/Expert mode stuff.

Which version of AE2 are you using? I don't see it in the list, and rv.2 and rv.3 are very different versions. This means any add-ons for it will only work with one of the two.

Also, you need to be using Java 8 if you plan on updating mods, because Thaumic Energistics beyond 1.0.0.1 has a hard requirement for it. You SHOULD update it because old versions have bad bugs. Make sure you get matching revisions to AE2--the latest is on rv.3.

I have no idea what the FTBLib/Tweaks/Utility mods do but its probably for the best to leave them in the pack simply because they're wildcards.

Feel free to drop Journeymap because its really heavy. Get Mapwriter--lighter, cleaner, simpler.

lastly, mystcraft is basically unused in IE unless you are using expert mode. so you CAN drop it but you have to remove the MT script for it in modpack/expert/scripts/Mystcraft.zs

I haven't installed a mod in years and I wanted to try something refreshing in single-player after playing mostly multi-player for the past years, but then I see this on literally every single mod. I've never used Forge but I know many people do, I play with a cracked vanilla client so I didn't really care much but I guess it was a mistake to not learn about Forge till now? How am I supposed to install mods if I don't want to use Forge? I remember when I could just add files to the main jar archive and then enjoy any mods I wanted back in those times, now recent mods have a whole different format that was made to run with Forge and stuff like that, I can't add those files to the main jar anymore. What am I supposed to do? is there no choice but to install Forge?

LiteLoader is actually fairly popular! There's a lot of addons for it, however many of them stopped being maintained post-1.7.10, some of them just hopping to Forge instead.

Meddle is popular and is gearing up to possibly become the next LiteLoader, with tiny tweak mods and minimalism meaning it doesn't bog the game down too much.

You missed the original ModLoader, which almost every mod used pre-1.2.5. However, when ModLoader compatibility in Forge was finally removed in 1.7, LittleMaidMob was the only major mod I was aware of that was using it - and that was primarily due to the fact its code used severe hacks that were very difficult to make function in Forge. The whole thing was essentially rewritten after that.

Suprisingly, I think it should work as long as the floor that sits at the same level as the spawner is COMPLETELY CLEAR of blocks. Outside of the walls for safety, of course, but remember that mobs will spawn outside of 24m from the player in a spherical pattern, up to 128m out. The spawning algorithm picks a block that is " non-opaque, or must not fill its entire cube, or must be powered" (as per the wiki)

From that block, it searches for four suitable spawning points within a 41x1x41 of that point. Bukkit plugins are mostly utilitys(permissions,anti-greifing(rollback), creative building(plotsquared, worldedit, voxelsniper)) interesting for server owners, while forge is known for major gameplay additions, the mods are mostly targeted at the players(rather than server admins).
Plenty of forge mods try to include some sort of greifing protection(pneumaticcraft, ic2(personal safe), logistics pipes off the top of my head) but it's a pretty mediocre solution. (For example, you can protect anything unprotected for yourself regardless of if you own it or not and it's not necessarily easy to find out who issued the protection.)

Yeah, i remember back when forge mods had to be ported to MCPC+ and it was still a buggy mess. That said as it works right now you can't really establish fine-grained permissions for forge mods(lots of block placements and block breaks by fakePlayers, without support from the specific mod there is usually no way to tell on which player's behalf that block is being broken/placed)

Meddle (and Liteloader, I think) let you load the tweak-class (Mojang's system) mods by dropping jars in a folder, instead of adding command-line arguments or modifying version JSON files.

Meddle's 1.9+ 'Dynamic Mappings' matches classes to names by reflection - mods that use it then don't require recompiling between snapshot/version updates.

...The issue is that I really don't want to have it be part of a Thaumcraft addon. I want it to be where you can craft the base with a Glowstone powder, a fire charge, and a dye. From there you can add a modifier; A core with another fire charge and a dye, sparkles with gunpowder and a dye, stringy wisps with a string and a dye, etc.

Customized, personalized, and not reliant on TC so it can be used with other magic mods (Ars, Witchery, etc.) or for a personalized aesthetic.

for example a milk bucket used to be ~80 EMC above a regular bucket... and you can make several of them per second easily with anything that can emulate right clicks.
another example: what value do you give enderpearls
they are pretty rare, and some mods make lategame content that is gated by them. So they should be pretty valuable, somewhere around a few iron ingots?
...but in 1-2h you can create an enderpearl farm that gives you several per second... which means you have to massively reduce the value
this is a lose-lose situation, either enderpearls are easy to get earlygame or endermen spawners become too strong

Immibis's Macroblocks look pretty good with Unity. Except Glowstone (on the left), it looks like literal solid piss blocks.

The carved pumpkin makes me feel like eating an orange.

It also seems to have built-in compatibility with Railcraft, which is nice.

i'd be surprised if ex nihilo/ex astris had good support for gregtech.
gregtech does have recipes to make a lot of it's materials out of dirt/lava/etc.(pic related) ...but you do need gregtech machines for it in the first place, altough you might be able to make the first few from rubber/tin/copper/iron.
one thing off note: there's GT6 by greg which is highly unfinished and GT5U which is a continuation of GT5 that is maintained by various contributors.
GT5U has two branches, 5.08.33 and 5.09.21, 5.09 is a more experimental and even more gregified version of 5.08. 5.09 is substantially harder, personally i'd recommend 5.08

With LP I like that you have to provide your own storage blocks and you can see items travelling. Also there are cool shit like those hud glasses. Though it's somewhat uglier, and there isn't as much compatibility with other mods.

I still don't get why people complained about TC4's research system so much while praising TC5's one - scanning shit to get more points to research has never been an issue for me, although that might be because I've always scanned absolutely everything I craft as I'm fucking supposed to. Scanning things you make, combining aspects that are close to the cap, finding new nodes and using the deconstruction table should be more than enough to never run out of aspects.
In comparison, the new research forces you to memorize all aspect combinations, murders a huge part of them (TC without praecantatio? Really?) and makes both the advanced research thingy for shift+clicking aspects and advanced aspects useless, the former because there's nothing to shift+click and the latter because why would you waste precious primal points? I hope Azanor changes it yet again in TC5.1 as he always does on a new MC version.

Just like EIO's farming station, you can give it a sword that works on RF (such as a flux-infused one) and place a wireless charger nearby. That will keep it charged up.

They're assholes, families should be supportive and sharing a free thing should be the very least one could do to help out one another. Like it's free value, there's no reason not to do it, and if your family actually cares or likes one another it shouldn't be any problem. Like the only legit reason i would kick someone off is if they were a neet and refused to self sustain and were sapping and draining resources everywhere else, but here it sounds like you've got your finances and careers sorted out so likely the reason is they just hate you, maybe not entirely though they could just be getting revenge for some small thing you triggered them before with, but they're definitely being jerks. Are you still keeping in contact with them, call them once a week, hang out or visit them? They could just be getting lonely and cutting you off in spite thinking you don't like them anymore.

Actually, if you put a voidmetal pickaxe with unbreaking III in an arcane bore, it will still regen and do that fast enough to never break. This means that it might be worth testing if a voidmetal sword still repairs in a Killer Joe.
The repair enchantment, on the other hand, only works on your inventory because it needs vis to repair.
