We've had about 4-5 iterations of this thing. There's an unspoken agreement to only revive it once there's new content to discuss, I think.
I suspect this one won't die, though, with Unchained going strong and 2.8 on the way. It all depends on whether Unchained keeps getting content after finishing its story or not, we might end up letting it die until KH3 if that happens.

Unless he considers KH1 Cloud as already having involved Vincent, I'd say the possibility is still open
He'd fit pretty well in Halloween Town.

So I recently ordered both the HD releases of the Kingdom Hearts games, 1.5 and 2.5. I did some digging after I did so, since it was kind of an impulse buy, and I'm seeing these ports are apparently absolutely shit?

Is this actually the case to anyone here, would I be better off just emulating the Final Mix games, CoM, and BBS on my computer? Can I install the games to the drive to make the abhorrent load times better? I'm particularly worried about drives being fucked in 2.5 HD. Could someone assuage my fears on the matter?

No, absolutely not.

There are a few hiccups, here and there.

The most glaring of which is KHIIFM, which, like every other game, has longer load times. But this affects the load times for Drive.
It isn't game-breaking, and you can pause-buffer through it.

There's also a glitch with Reversal in the final Xemnas fight, but there are ways to get around that as well.

In the localization, special encounters and boss fights occasionally freeze during the opening camera zooms. No idea why this happens, it doesn't exist in JP. There's no rhyme or reason, you could start a fight, see it, die, and then it won't happen the second time.

Same thing happens in BbS with Style changes, but depending on your PSP model you will probably notice absolutely no difference.

In short, 1.5 and 2.5 are good ports.
These are the definitive versions of KHFM and BbSFM through model upgrades and control modifications.
Days and Re:coded are movies as I'm sure you know. The Days movie is pretty boring and without fight scenes, but the Re:coded movie is good.
Re:CoM is largely unchanged, except with how you unlock the extra cards, and the Keyblade cards being changed from KHII Keyblades to Days Keyblades.

Of the entire HD ReMIX, KHIIFM has the most problems, but they aren't huge problems.

That's the first time I've heard of this. The only problems I've ever noticed in the ports are slightly longer loading times and that thing in KH1:FM where mapping Sonic Blade and other similar moves to triangle causes you to tell Donald and Goofy to retreat constantly while doing these moves. Of all the issues, I'm most confused by the freezing in the localization. I genuinely have no idea how they could introduce a glitch when all they had to do was modify the script and audio tracks.

I'm actually playing KH2FM right now, I've spent the last two weeks clearing the Data Battles. The loading times on my game are no where near as long as that video shows. I don't know if it's related to the age/quality of the PS3 or what, the load is longer than the PS2 version was, but not as game breakingly bad as they are in that video.

Also I've been fighting Data Xemnas, and I've used Limit Form while doing that up-the-building reaction command probably a few dozen times of the last few days and never had the game crash on me.

The glitch with reversal during Xemnas' second form is real, and a bitch though.

Very useful, anything that you are not going to kill in one turn (mostly high level coliseum and proud 140, the last stage from the event can be useful for the witch) and you should put it on medals that you are not going to use the ability.

Status effects only work on normal attacks, so they are better on medals that have decent attack, but not so decent ability or just on spare medals that you have and can put on your keyblade whenever you need the skill.

Except they also miss half the time. I have sleep, poison, and paralysis medals, and they're about as useful as tits on a boar. Assuming you have one on only one medal in a keyblade (and with actually useful abilities like att and def boost, why would you use more), you have one shot per turn to inflict status on a single enemy. At a third of your potential damage, at best. Against multiple enemies, this is useless. Against single enemies, high damage from an ability+att boost is way more efficient. The biggest reason to use it would be a single enemy with health too high to wreck in 2 turns. But even then, what are you looking for? To either immobilize it for its turn or to let another ability to take advantage of it, right? But you still only have one chance per turn to do this, unless you're loading it on all your medals. And at the cost of probably at least 10k damage. 20k if it's one of the better current medals. Under 50% chance to trigger in the first place, and then on top of that, an unknown but fairly high chance to fucking miss? The only enemy I would really use status on as an actual strategy is higher level raids, and I've tried that. A lot. It's never once actually effected a raid boss. Even when it doesn't miss.

And, honestly, once you get to a point on Coliseum that even if you spam all your abilities you still are not going to kill anything or just going to barely do one fight and have two more waiting with the same level of difficulty, having Def Boosts and any kind of status effect is basically the main strategy right now since you are going to use your gauge mainly for healing.

The same can be said about the 140 proud quest, you can just aim to inflict status and attack normally, using your gauge only for healing and just save gauge to try to burst the target for the objective.

It's not useful on every stage, it's very rng, it's not something that you should count on always working, but this doesn't make them useless nor bad.

Paralysis has a 50% chance (after it's applied) of stopping the enemy from acting on it's turn. Sleep has a 100% chance of stopping the enemy, but if you hit the enemy it wakes up so unless you're in the Coliseum sleep only really works if it's on a friend medal, i.e. the last thing you do each round. Poison damages the enemy on their turn. It can kill them before they act, but if it doesn't kill them you still get hit normally.

In my opinion, Poison > Paralyze > Sleep.

Poison is more reliable (it will always do damage), but if you do enough damage and the main issue is getting killed then paralyze might help you more, but it's not guaranteed that will stop the enemy even if it works, so you might just opt to use a shared medal with sleep.

Having a medal with sleep can be useful for coliseum if you use it as your last medal, but both TT and TW have high multipliers on the last slot, so I usually dislike using it.

SE really cocked up this one by not putting in proper protections before release. I already calculated the medals coming. If you agree that the 3D medals will be an E3 event and you remove Jack Skellington from the game, you can see which medals from set 2 and 3 remain to fill the slots.

Pinocchio (2), Pete TR (4), Evil Queen (4), Old Hag (4), Meg (2), Cinderella (2), Jasmine (2), Roxas SP (2), Namine (2), and Alice (2).

Sephiroth will probably be for the post E3 medal update.

Roxas is basically Magic Hercules/KH2 Riku with 100 Guilt. This makes him great since Magic lacks good single target heavy hitters besides him.

Namine copies buffs. Very important for later bosses, especially the one at 415 who comes with +3 everything and ready to rape your boypussy.

Alice dispels buffs. This works great with Namine. Alice + Namine are one of the easier ways you can break most bosses.

Sephiroth and Roxas SP are limited medals, so the wouldn't be able to be in the same batch anyway, and you are missing KH Kairi. But most of this list is probably going to come, makes me wonder how they will change the Sephiroth batch.

I think KH Kairi will be part of the Sephiroth batch. We don't really need a 2x Power buff yet. We got KH2 Kairi in advance to help with the Wretched Witch I think though she was originally meant as a boost against Hades at 350 together with Sephiroth (both speed and Hades is magic).

Next boss (Cerberus at 314) is power, hence why Roxas is the next to included. He'll give you a clear advantage against him.

Cerberus is also the first boss to use heavy buffs (check that attack boost) so Namine/Alice would help greatly.

The game is very balanced and meant to give you the right tools for the challenge.
