I'll do the whole of Dark Souls 1 tonight, Dark Souls 2 tomorrow, and Dark Souls 3 on thursday (unless you guys want a different order)
I won't be scanning it, since it's a hardback and I don't want to destroy it, instead I'll be taking pictures with an SLR with proper lighting and that'll be about the same quality. Just an update for you guys.

Am I a shitter if I use a parry shield over a caestus despite it being "better"? I'm new to pvp'ing in Souls and I find that with the Caestus I just chuck parries out, the recovery time on the parry shields means I fuck up a lot, but the parries I do get I know 100% why I got them etc.

I can always switch back to the Caestus later, I just want to get better at reading people and predicting.

But seriously, it's one of the shortest areas in the game. There's one bonfire and no shortcuts, and it's all easily manageable. That's how short it is.

Am I the only one disappointed with pvp in 3? DaS2 was a worse game overall but the focus on pvp made it have a lot of replayability, 3 definitely has a better world and pve, but the pvp is pretty much garbage and there's far too little variety.

I think DaS2 did a lot of things right in regards to pvp concept I think. Full red eye orb was cool. Gradual estus healing was alright. Blocking it from everybody that's not the host was a drag.
Warmth was more important in longer invades since it gave the invader a valuable healing option.
Arenas was a neat thing they carried over from Artorias but forcing it was a no-no.
Covenants were sufficiently hard to level up, forcing you to git gud or git level 1 forever and the aura you got for being high in blue or red was really cool and an instant visual indicator that you weren't one to fuck with. But overall a drag for multiple characters.
Sin was neat but should have been an auto-indictment instead, forcing invaders to weigh the pros and cons of being harassed by blues versus using the arena. (contrast this to having a higher chance to invade people in DS3 only if they have phantoms)
An independent attack for backstabs was far more efficient at stopping backstabs than the unsafe shit that is the slow ass backstab animation in DS3
Dragon Covenant still sucked but at least it was active. Rat was sufficiently fun to suck people into your rape cave in, just not constant enough really.

Special mention to being able to see what the fuck a message was rated.

So a lot of cool ideas that overall fell short for one reason or another but I think DS3 could have benefited from using some of these ideas instead of scrapping every last one of them.

You know how much damage acid does to weapon? 6 to 8 points. It's fucking worthless

It's shit, weapon variety is nonexistant, magic all useless except pyro and the parrying limitations paired with how easy it is to parry make everyone use an even more similar setup.

Parrying is hilarious to be honest, in 1 it was prediction only due to lag. In 2 it was a mix, but the super slow startup made it discouraging to use.
Now in 3 parries are fast as shit and lag doesn't play a role in most matches, so you see literally everyone wearing the epic parryglove and fishing for hornet frontstabs.

What's worrying though, is that without parrying being more of a predictive measure there's nothing left in pvp except spacing, and spacing isn't interesting enough to carry it or make it fun.

I liked the bosses in DaS1. They felt very fulfilling at the time. I was disappointed with the bosses in DaS2 and 3. Beating the bosses in the Nioh demo gave more of that feeling of accomplishment that I got from DaS1 than DaS2 or 3 bosses.
