Niles is considered better because he requires much less to get going, is always relevant, and has Thief utility. Not to mention a Pass unit makes endgame so much less painful. His Strength is kind of low but there's so many ways to boost Strength in Conquest.

I would start playing the GBA ones, starting with either Blazing Sword (just called "Fire Emblem" in the west) or Sacred Stones. SS is the easier game of the two since you can do battles between chapters and buy weapons and items whenever you want, similar to Awakening. However, SS has a post-game called the Creature Campaign, when Blazing Sword's "post game" is just playing through it again with a few changes. Personally, I prefer SS a little more, but they're both good.

Efficiencyfags have some of the most retarded logic and paradigms around when it comes to playing the game a certain way. At least LTCfags admit that they're heavily reliant on RNG to be able to achieve 1-2 turn completions, but all efficiencyfags ever seem to go on about are muh bases, muh unreliable growths, while simultaneously praising Xander for being the GOAT unit in Conquest because he comes with amazing bases and has good enough growths to carry him along the way.

I could probably beat the game two times over while these autists were online preaching about """efficiency""", chugging tonics, or doing calculations that didn't factor in hit rate or critical avoid; maybe even marry Pieri along the way and feed her all my stat boosters so she can kill the final boss.

Speaking of efficiency, I really hate what Fates did with the older brothers. I'm a broken record at this point, but I hate that the vast majority of characters have trouble matching them even when trained because they have super fucking broken swords. Even when Ike was godly with that Ragnell, other characters could use Short Axes, Javelins, all sorts of things to at least keep up with him. There's no such thing here. The closest you get is magic which relies on a lot of praying and Shuriken which have low Mt. I hate it.

If you want Mozu to reach level 10 in any reasonable timeframe, you need to feed her. And this isn't just letting her swoop around taking kills like someone like Thany does either, Mozu needs kills specifically set up for her due to how weak she is and being in a bad base class.

10 Bowman Mozu still has bad defenses too, on top of her enemy phase being really lacking due to her class. She has decent offenses by that point sure but so do a lot of other units who didn't require nearly that much effort to reach that point.

Also getting a Heart Seal on her that early means that 2/3 of the Servant, Corrin, and Camilla have to wait for it, and they all use it much better than she does.

Because Xander's start is really good while Mozu's is really bad. I'm not sure how you don't understand that.

Growths are a cumulative thing, and in efficiency the less a unit needs to grow to begin being good the better. Units like Xander and Camilla are good right away and grow in a way that makes them relevant for the whole thing, which is why they get praised for their growths in addition to their bases and shit.

There are exceptions of course, like Jagen units who are really good at the beginning then fall off later, or more utility-heavy roles that don't rely on stats as much like fliers or Dancers. But with Mozu, a unit that only has combat going for her for the most part, having such a bad start greatly diminishes the value of her growths.

Just remember that the earliest you're likely to make use of the first heart seal for most of those other units is when you have more of those available to use. Corrin typically wants to learn Draconic Hex first for softening up annoying lategame enemies, the servants want Tomebreaker to make dealing with spellcasters less annoying when changing to a class with less Resistance, and Camilla at the very least wants to grab Savage Blow first because the AoE damage from that is too important to ignore.

As for what to do with Mozume if you don't plan on making her fight things, she should at least give her Archer class to someone else who can make good use of it, since it's the only one available in Nohr. Niles, Silas, and even Effie can do well with it, as Niles already starts with bows, Silas can make use of them as a Bow Knight, and Effie's high str and decent speed are enough to take out fliers even with E ranked bows.

LTC abuses RNG to get the absolute lowest turncounts possible.

Efficiency assumes things like units are at or near their averages and you're not constantly going for 20% hits or whatever like LTC sometimes does, while still trying to go through things at a somewhat brisk pace, and not taking stops to specifically baby or grind something and the like.

Also in terms of unit tiering, LTC lists tend to quite literally be "use these, not these" where any unit who isn't part of the top tier or isn't around to chip for a chapter or something gets sandbagged to death. Efficiency lists try to rate each unit on what they can really do, not always does it succeed in that endeavor but it is a different sentiment from LTC in a sense.

You don't need to be in pair up to raise support levels between units, Attack Stance exists, and allows for a number of units that rely on attacking indirectly to get a bit more exp and build weapon ranks as units in front of them get attacked and counter. Mages and glass cannons who do horrible in the frontlines rely on using these tactics a lot if you want them to damage things without dying horribly.

And with Savage Blow, you're investing in crowd control over reclassing early for a chance at some marginally better level ups. Even if you kill the unit you're targeting, all the others nearby get damaged, and if you kill something that's paired, you damage the remaining unit with it. And of course there's the fact that like all other similar skills you can do damage with it even if you whiff or are incapable of damaging the target with your attack(i.e. a dual guard would activate).

Also some people like keeping Camilla in Malig for Bolt Axe, but Elise or a +Mag main is probably better suited for that, if you have arms scrolls to spend.

Attack stance isn't going to save her from having a terrible start, but it is important to keep in mind since crowds of enemies will use it relentlessly, sometimes to the point of compromising their own positions just to get that extra attack in(in some cases, even if it's going to be Dual Guarded). Good use of Attack Stance can clear out shit a lot more safely than Guard Stance in some cases, though I still have trouble getting a feel for when to use which at times, and often fall back to GS when in doubt since building Dual Guard meter is rarely ever a bad thing to do.

No, I agree she has a bad start. I'm saying that Attack Stance allows her to get kills that most trainee style units would struggle to get. She can use Effie or Corrin or someone else as a way to get levels easier, especially reclassed to Archer since she can attack without any risk to herself. Is she worth it? Not really. But this is probably the furthest a trainee style unit has gotten outside of maybe Ross.

In terms of efficiency, wouldn't spending 100 turns turtling and using Azura's tiny little healing skill to heal your units instead of wasting a staff be one of the most efficient strategies in terms of resource expenditure? Of course, from a turn count point of view, this is seen as horrible efficiency. I'm just struggling to understand what efficient play is if we're trying to factor both turn count AND resource expenditure when the biggest turtle ever could end up wasting no heals at all.

The thing about AS is that in most cases it requires a bait to be able to pull off safely. And when you can disregard a good deal of positioning and just throw Ougi or Sisterkiller with a cookie cutter pair-up right into the fray to soften up enemies on enemy phase the point of it essentially becomes moot.

It opens up a lot of options, however. Pretty fun too. I think IS should make it so that AS gives the full exp only to the unit that attacks, so that "weaker units" can be more flexible with the mechanic. Maybe even nerf GS stat bonuses too.

I think it could use a bit of tweaking. Think of it this way. You have a full Guard Stance. You throw yourself into a pack of enemies and you can double them all. The first hit is blocked, you double them and get 2/5ths of your guard gauge back. The second guy attacks you, then you double, and you have your full gauge again. You're only getting hit by about half of the enemies you're fighting. Sure, they put ways to get around it, but it's usually stupid bullshit like infinitely stacking debuffs.

Really, I always felt that the design philosophy around attack and guard stance was a bit weird. The follow-up in attack stance is already underwhelming as is but guard stance is able to block it? They managed to utilize the mechanic pretty well though, like in chapter 9 and 10 Conquest where you had to use guard stance or you were fucked by Seal Def/Str from a Spear Fighter getting in the follow-up attack. But after that the game just loves to throw a million debuffs and NINJAS at you so backpacking loses its strategic element aside from juicing up units and building up shields. Not to mention Hoshido classes benefit more from attack stance in general because of all the debuffs they have.

I'm inclined to agree that the balance lies more in other areas, like the other anon said. Conquest enemies are just so brutal that it's easier for most people to just pair up Xander or Effie and have them get passed down a ninja rape corridor. Attack Stance is way too risky and reliant on position to be considered as good as Guard Stance, however...

How about make the follow-up attack activate from any unit that is within attacking range of the target? For example, Unit 1 is adjacent to an enemy from the west. Unit 2 initiates an attack from the east, adjacent to the enemy. Unit 2 has an option to dual attack with Unit 1, or any other units that can attack from their own positions. It would address the turtling problem somewhat and make it even more fun.

My plan currently is:
1) Have Effie/Harold and Xander/Charlotte tank the Heroes in the first room. Felicia Silences the Hexing Rod Maid for the first two turns and then Camilla swoops down and kills her while the remaining Heroes get picked off.
2) Let Kaze/Beruka get entrapped. He picks off a Sorcerer, the door gets broken, then backup dispatches the Maid and other Sorcerer.
3) Rally the fuck out of Kaze and send him to break down the middle-right door. This takes two shots, and he usually has to wait a turn in-between hitting the door to avoid Iago's Hexing Rod. He's close to level cap and has Vantage and two proc skills, so he easily solos the Sorcerer room after a few Rallies.
4)The rest of the team disposes of the reinforcements, then axe-users take out the Maids. The Sorcerer in the bottom-right gets killed, then Camilla flies down and hits the door once, careful to stay out of Freeze range of the Maid to the far left. She gets Frozen, then inchworms her way out of Freeze range over the next few turns by separating and repairing with Niles. Camilla gets Rally-buffed, flies down and breaks the door with a ranged weapon, once again careful to stay out of the left Maid's range. Felicia/Leo Silences the right Maid from outside of enemy range.

This is where things break down into hypothetical. From here I plan to have the rest of the army deal with the first wave of reinforcements while Camilla and Leo quickly move out of enemy range. Then when the next set of Sorcerers + Maid spawn, I'll have Felicia Entrap the Maid, gank her, then put Kaze in range of the Sorcerers and Rally him up so he guts all of them. After that I retreat until the Berserkers overtake the Generals, have Axebreaker Xander wipe out the Berserkers on Enemy Phase, then hopefully handle the Generals with my main army. If I time it carefully the turn I move through the top room will be a Silence turn.

After that I'll have to figure out how to deal with Faceless / Stoneborn aggro.

I used Corrin and Keaton to hold the line. Corrin could easily dodgetank the berserkers (they had a ~15% chance to hit her) and she had more than enough health to eat the damage from the generals. I paired her with Xander for support bonus and extra defense.

I paired Keaton with Effie for maximum defense. He had a crapton of health and defense already, in addition to the beast tune. Beast killers would only shave off a portion of his health, and he could soak pretty much everything.

I would fly Beruka in to rally defense for both tanks, have Azura sing to her, then fly her out of range again. I would also rally speed from two spaces away for Keaton. Buff your tanks up with tonics. Keaton's self heal is insanely useful, and you can grab shit from the convoy since Corrin is right there.

The defense level in Rausten is tough if you want to keep as many green units alive as possible, but it's eased up by the facts of:

>Actually you don't even have to kill everyone, since it's turn-based survival
>You have much stronger units and several more of them

Compare that to the Ghost Ship, which limits your movement (but not the enemy's due to their fliers), has you lower-leveled (AND trying to recruit a level 1 L'Arachel at the same time), and requires you to kill everything. It's a pain in the ass that isn't quite seen again in the game until the Lagdou Ruins.

I decided to have Ryoma handle the right side of the map, and even then he nearly got RNGscrewed to death by failed dodges. I had most of my other units handle the small force below the start point and the left side of the map with Corrin leading the advance. Had Corrin 1v1 Hans, too.
