Played for 3 hours and am loving it so far. Gameplay is solid and characters are pretty good. Only real complaint is the the performance is all over the place, and I think the memory leaking issues is still there if you play over 2 hours.

I'm saying that's not the same as queuing for specific missions and having the MM server automatically put people together.

And it wasn't even accurate about the missions either. People could be screwing around or doing sidequests and you wouldn't know until you joined them. Especially when there's a bunch of lobbies listing Talon of God.

And then there's the problem where Gearbox never fixed the problem where you can't find OP1-8 raiding lobbies so you had to host a lv 72 lobby and add people as they come in and rehost.

It's similar in style/objective but different in direction. There's not really any big open lands to explore like in those games, and instead is divided into linear chapters with set objectives that lead to one or two boss fights. Some of the bosses were really bullet-spongey in the beta but I'm seeing less of it from what I've played. It's ok for me, but I didn't absolutely love borderlands 1 or 2 all that much so it's hard to say.

There definitely are counters to it and I recognize it, and you're right the chances of an opponent actually having the characters and the communication to counter it is very slim.

Maybe a sort of draft system would be great.

Unrelated but: Am I the only one who just finds games with a miko to be boring as hell? Unless your team dives in on everyone, you can't really poke away at the enemy team as Miko heals for so much it doesn't matter at all, and unless you have an on point marquis or someone who is able to pick him off, you're probably not winning many fights. Other supports either focus on shields or some burst healing here and there but not just straight up keeping everyone's HP constantly topped off. Especially without access to a lot of the characters he feels like a required pick, at least in incursion (But that's the only game mode I really play)

I dislike having healers in general. Every comp at a decent level is required to have one and there's only two in the game, and I think I'd like the pace of tje game a lot more without dedicated healers.

At least in mid fights, Miko's not that bad if you have a good assassin or Marquis and your team actually follows up on their damage when the enemy team shifts focus, but she causes stalls at the sentry and kills the pacing of games if you don't have anyone who can decently chip at Geoff.

Yeah the pacing is a lot better without healers. I'm fine with a few supports providing shields or boosts in battle, but Miko single handedly makes a guy unkillable 1v1, and 2v1 is still insanely difficult to kill. Unless you have 3 people to dive 1 guy. It would be fine if you could easily catch Miko but him having a self heal, speed boost and a slow that's generally upgraded into a stun, it's a bitch and a half to get him late game.

His only problem is that his regular melee is too fucking slow and that the animations take too long so you're left incredibly vulnerable if you do anything but the first swing.
If you tap the button every half-second he repeatedly does the first hit of his melee and can re-shield almost immediately while also putting out greater DPS.

Once he gets Runes he becomes an incredible tank.

Which is why you do the half-second press and abuse the fact that it has almost no recovery period so you can literally put out like four swings in the time it takes for him to normally do two.
Coupled with the fact that each hit does ~100 damage it gives him scary DPS.
It becomes even scarier once he gets the upgrade to increase his base axe damage, because if you combine that shit with the Rune of Power you're looking at ~36% more melee damage.
