Well Ashe does require pretty tight positioning. Her main contribution to the team is her arrow, and because of this her most common build nowadays is Reaver into Hurricane rather than IE. You want to hit 40% CDR and find good engages for your team with liberal arrow usage.

Try it out. As to how to deal with bruisers, Ashe has 600 range as opposed to the usual 550 and her volley applies crit slow so she is good at keeping her distances, but she does struggle once they're on her. At that point you just want to hope your team can protect you and sit very far back.

Critting the entire enemy team and going fast is super fun. Her lanephase is actually super fun if your support is aggressive, her spellshield gives her a reasonable skillcap and she hits super hard.
