The Myoko is so much better then the Aoba. The two additional turrets and armor make a world of difference. The rest of the line is pretty much the same ship with armor added on (besides the mogami 155 meme). The Zao is equipped with a cloaking field, and the flat shell trajectory lets you rek DDs and CAs (Even BBs at close range).

There's entire websites dedicated to tracking these numbers.. The top players in Atlanta are only putting out 53k average. Meanwhile even the top Pensa is putting out 62, and never mind the fucking Myoko with its top player averaging 72k.

Then there's the matter of the overall average for the Atlanta and, as you'd expect, its rock fucking bottom in the tier at 22k, meanwhile Myoko and for some reason Shchors are at 35k and 40k respectively.

tl;dr Atlanta's best day is still a mediocre day for literally any other ship in the tier. It's shit.

Honestly, it's probably because of how incredibly fragile they are, and Kirov was the breaking point. Lots of people (including myself) were incredibly frustrated by Kirov's fuckhuge size, paper armor, nonexistent concealment and abysmal maneuverabiilty (for a cruiser). It's a ship that is literally all gun. And good guns won't do you any good if you can't fire them because you're dead. The ABY turret arrangement feels wasted on a ship that you're going to try to keep at max range all the time.

The Buddy is a nicer experience so far, so I'll withhold judgment on the entire line until I get further in.

German AP should be buffed so that it bounces less from 30°< angles across the whole tech tree.
The problem is that WG has nerfed german HE to a embarassing level (IRL german HE was as good if not better than its counterparts)0 to justify that AP alpha, but whenever a cruiser shows it's broadside from close range any AP will do.
Hell, i've been having better results with Aoba AP sometimes.
You can still do good with german ships as they are not so bad as german tanks were in WoT at the beginning, but you have to be much more careful and you're certainly disadvantaged.

As for Hipper, from 10km range you can deal up to 7000 dmg in a salvo when shooting BB broadside, superstructure and that's not counting citadels.
To be honest i dont feel very disadvantaged against other T8 cruisers in my Hipper, but i do fear more BBs because im a huge target and i wish i had HEs that would do something to lit them on fire.
My advice is to always shoot targets showing their broadside, your cannon range should grant that at least one target is showing it's side to you at any given time.

Also, my average damage with Konig and Nurn is lower (still above average) because they were among my first line when i started playing.
The last matches i've done with Konig, i can see how much better she performs in its tier than Hipper in hers, though Hipper is just slighty below average, not the turd some people seem to describe her.

Give it better HE or something. Having better AP as a national pecularity on a cruiser does jackshit because AP will still bounce on anything angled and APing broadsides is something any one can do. The Kberg works because low tier maps are small enough for you to get in close to pump AP shells at anything broadside.

After radar implementation it seems high tier USN are DD hunters, IJN has better HE and fire rate, and RU seems to have superior range and fire rate. burger CAs seem to have improved performanves after the patch so I'd say they're all niches that have some use.

You're dying way too much. Sure, you're doing some damage, but that is not translating into victories or more XP.

Your role as a USN DD is to hunt down DD's, take caps and stay alive. If there are DD's alive, you should be looking for them. Firing your guns upon cruisers and battleships is just distracting you from your objectives, and letting the enemy DD know where you are, so he can avoid you. Plus it also tells the enemy BB's where to expect/not expect torpedoes coming from.

So instead of trying to set some BB on fire with your <10% fire chance, launch torpedoes and go look for enemy DD's and caps to take/keep secure. If all DD's are dead, then you still want to keep your stealth game up. Torpedo BB's from spots they'd not expect. If you tickle them with your guns, you ruin the element of surprise and they have now one less thing to be worried about. Sure, sometimes it is useful to use your guns, but those times should be kept to a minimum side dish and when nothing else is possible.

And that thing about staying alive? That's so you can carry in late game. You become exponentially more important in late game. Outrunning enemies to cap, torping stuff desperatedly trying to seize points, terrorizing enemy ships with your mere presence and generally being an absolute cunt. Yes, that means giving up on suicidal torpedo runs.
