Just got finished sorting out my plans, or at least I believe I've accounted for all possible contingencies that I can think of. I'm not even sure one of them is even in this game. I still have to train them up because I'm a bugger like that, but I'm way too exhausted to do that right now. If there are other gaps to fill, I'll do it later. Right now, I'm just glad to have resolved that matter before my brain lost track of it.

I mean, it's tougher than pretty much everything the game throws at you at least.
But that's not saying much. Para'd it to death, only saw it use a Mach Jab which did like 200 damage and then it never moved again.

His Machinedramon is a pretty tough though, as far as this game goes.
First thing to drop me down below 80k HP since I got max stats, and without buffs would only take low 4-digit damage from my attacks.
Plus DG Dimension is a bitch, blocks all tamers actions and LCD's almost all the time.

If there was a fight with 5 of those things now THAT would have been nice.

Anyone happen to know why, occasionally in Linkz, you'll gain 2ap after a turn ends instead of one? I thought I was going crazy when I'd use two finishers at the same time and one Digimon would reach 3ap before the other, but I've been watching it, and it happens pretty frequently.

Pic related is seriously helping out on my team hard. Her defense ability is a damn lifesaver on harder stages.

Finally some story progression. That would've went a lot smoother if I wasn't a spaz. Some down time to train the reserve party. Priority is on Agumon, Betamon, and Veemon and Wormmon. I'll have to do some back and forthing with them later if the cam doesn't go up that fast. Basically, going after what I could do without worrying about the Royal Knights right away. My backups include a Dorumon and Guilmon, but I'm going for other evos on them. (I have doubles of both) I had a couple of things I wanted to build on, but I might change my mind as I just thought of things that would be easier for me to get if I change it around. Change one of my mistakes to a Salamon.

In the Japanese version they had a story mode and cutscenes which involved Aegiomon fighting the Olympus 12. Each form is supposed to represent a group in the game.

Adventure is the most essential probably now with Tri going on. The stock animation can get old but yeah. 02 is a sequel for the sake of being a sequel but it still pretty fun if you are one of those people who enjoy fun. Adventure and 02 have the best movies.

Tamers is probably the best. A lot of thought was put into the plot and characters although it has some of the same flaws with animation just due to being dated.

Frontiers has a bad arc and feels more like a spinoff of Adventure that changes the monster raising concept to a more Tokusatsu thing, but it's surprisingly solid. The movie is really good. Unbalanced evolutions and main focus on the main two characters though.

Savers I honestly can't fucking remember so I don't think it must have been that good but again if you like monster of the week shows you probably will enjoy it and apparently a lot of people like this one. It goes back to normal monster raising.

Xros Wars feels like yet another spinoff. It was pretty fun but I can't ever bring myself to rewatch it. The Digimon have more character than the actual humans which is annoying. It's kind of weird and feels to toy selling even though digimon was always that way I don't have any nostalgia for it and it doesnt seem to have much heart. It's not bad thoug.

I don't know how to be a critic especially for kids shows man. I love everything. I'd say watch Frontiers. The best part about it is that it shares the same art as Adventure and Tamers, so it might hit you on a nostalgic level.

Yuuko is pretty normal, for the most part. When she's not thinking about ruining her step-mom's career or murdering her.

Got everyone on the save level. Also fixed my trash from earlier evo experiments and even got two Sukamon and Numemon for my efforts. They will be worth it later. My main problem right now is the ridiculous requirement on Wormmon to evolve and I botched several things up due to not fully understanding how the back and forthing works on that. I now seek to correct it and hopefully the boost to abi will help stick around the lower states longer to raise speed.

My bros in Heroes have been Majiramon, whose ability to halve damage is a lifesaver, Metaletemon for its ability to add a delay of two turns to the enemy's attacks (although as of late it feels like it's becoming less useful), and Sandiramon by virtue of having been the strongest Digimon I had for quite some time.

I acquired quite a few new, stronger Digimon though (like Asuramon and Devitamamon), so I might have to reshuffle my main team.
I also finally evolved Alphamon, so once I get another “Add +2 to all cards” Digimon, I can start using that strat.

I may have to kick myself for saying anything about grinding. At this rate, I'm still not going to know if it's really necessary because I naturally did it on my own. Curse my insistence on having an evenly leveled party, and also that I sort of restore my level upon evolving. At least this game is incredibly conducive to such practices. Although what I have right now is massively excessive compared to what I saw from others. Perhaps because I made a better effort to plan ahead, although if I were really planning ahead, then I'd probably have different digis than what I have. That isn't important for Normal, though.

Just got past the first real boss. It was exactly what I've seen from others. A bit lengthy, but no real problem. The only thing is that I knew it was a difficulty spike, so I automatically changed my tactics, putting a buff on myself and proceeding to wreck shit. I doubt it would've changed much if I reacted as if I didn't know what I was up against. It's something that's been kinda nagging me, that I'm having an easier time than anyone else that I watched play it, but I've also kept the type alignments more in mind, so I do know more what I'm doing. We'll see how that plays out for me. I did make my front runners with the explicit purpose of exploiting the main type wheel. I guess grinding really isn't that necessary as I feel quite comfortable with just going from area to area without stopping for my front runners. I'm still not sure how intuitive training up to the same level after evolving is, though. It made sense to me.

Well, don't rush things out and go for the Megas you want straight away.
You probably know this already, but you should take a couple of detours here and there.

Save, evolve into a digi, check on the field guide if it has any moves worth picking, get em if so, if not, reload and try another or check it's pre-evolutions. That way you'll both get good moves and build up ABI, which you'll need later.

I have not gotten a single shard other than the one for clearing the 25th floor. This is bullshit.

I probably can't do so anyway, especially with what I'm having to field. I also forgot a couple dragons, one of which I know one way to get, but I wonder if there's another. The other, I don't know how to get at all, but I wanted to play without knowledge of how the evo paths work. If I wanted to do that, I would've started this game quite differently. You're right that I've planned for what I DO know since the beginning, at least in terms of what I know turns into what. If I didn't, I would've been sitting around trying to train digis forever. I was going to wait longer to get higher evo states so I can fidget with abi better, as I know I need it for one digi, and there's a few I've kept in the bank for eternity just for that instance, as I'll need colossal abi on them as well. I'm not even sure I'll be getting them, though, as they're not going to be functioning digis in this run. I don't even know if I have the skill to get them. They're there mostly for the prospect of trying to get them.

Also, if I wanted to go for strategy, I still would've handled this differently. I'll be frank with you, I am not a minmaxer. I never was. I don't even know the paths to pass egg moves in pokemon. I've had a hundred thousand things said to me about crazy fidgeting around, but nothing that really said it was necessary for anything but Hard mode. I would need a piece of paper and hours of time to even think about how all of that works. Granted, I might need it if I legitimately want to go for the Royal Knights, either that or to have stuff that geared for going insanely fast and can penetrate defenses. I don't believe I have that regardless, but I can try. I wanted to play this game on my own terms. I will flat out refuse being bum rushed into minmaxing. I won't get the Royal Knights? I will only accept that if I can't do it myself. Otherwise, you are basically telling me "here is a list of all the most useful digimon and how to get them that way

I'm not saying you should min-max, that's not something you can do in this game anyway, stats are mostly fixed.

It's just that to get Megas you'll need some ABI built up, so while working on that might as well evolve into digis you weren't planning to, to check things out, since you'll need to degenerate eventually either way to increase ABI.

Outside of Accel Boost and Character Reversal, none of the moves are that useful ingame anyway. You won't be really hindered if you don't pick em up, so don't worry about getting the Royal Knights.

Digimons at Ultimate and above have signatures much stronger than the highest tier of learnable skills, so you'll only be using those when it counts.

I would've done that to start with, but yet again, if I didn't focus on specific digis, then I would've been stuck training digis forever and gotten nothing done. I know I'll be doing a lot of back and forthing. I didn't think to use it to play around with the branches in hopes of getting some move diversity. That's one thing that's been bothering me, as my stuff right now looks like someone that only went with the learned movepool instead of messing with TMs and stuff to cover your bases in pokemon. I'll keep that in mind. Chances are, Imperialdramon will need a lot of abi itself, but I don't know how much, and like you said, I wouldn't want to backtrack and have lost one of the components of Paildramon. As for the Royal Knights, I was only after them for the sake that quite a number of them are dragon related digis. If I could avoid them, I would. If I can't get them at all, then I'll ignore it anyway. There's a reason I had doubles of Growlmon and Dorugamon, and that is to fill space with alternate evos they possess and if I can get the Royal Knights, then I'll fidget around with them. Until then, they're not on high priority. Perhaps I was trying to put too many eggs in my basket at once, but it would've been worse if I just randomly evolved whatever I found. Was this supposed to be taken more slowly? If I went any more slowly at the beginning, I would've been irritated at myself. Perhaps the point was not in trying to get as many as I could, but rather going forward with a few and then going back later. That would've been a bit more efficient. That's what has driven my progress lately. I'm still going to have to fix a few things later on anyway, but at least I'll be able to deal with it faster by being later in the game. I do realize that perhaps trying for a jogress was demanding of me, but I'm still surprised that I was even able to get close without trying. I thought I was going to have Cam troubles, not the other stats.

Then again, I wasn't paying attention to what the other requirements were in what I watched. I didn't know it would be that much of a problem. Shows what I know.

All I wanted was to have some fun with digis, I didn't know it would be this demanding. I haven't been this flustered with pokemon since I first played it. That's my own fault, though, I wanted to go through without knowledge of how the evo trees work. I know that's fairly pointless, but I guess I wanted the "fresh" experience. Ack, just thinking about all this makes my head explode. I wanted things to be simpler, not more complicated. I'm probably in the wrong place for that, though. Hmmm...there's no way I would play without having an idea of what I wanted, regardless of what I was doing. Did I make a mistake with this game to begin with? I'm not that clever of a person, I'm fairly straightforward. It didn't seem like it would be that much of a problem save for the challenges, but even there, it seemed like all you needed was the proper tactics. I seem to have understood that, you need to think more in terms of the long run with these bosses.

I don't know what I want to do now. I was not expecting needing a flow chart to even play this game at all. I thought you could just play through with little problems. I shouldn't have tried to go after Imperialdramon, then? Perhaps, and I will put them on lesser priority if that is the case, but if ALL digis are like that, we're stopping this here and now.

Yeah, you're not supossed to have a lot of digis early in the game.
The low memory cap reflects that.
I only started messing around wiht lines around chapter 9, until then I was just using the same 4 digis I got at the start without giving it much thought.

The problem is that by chapter 4 people usually use a early acess to a higher-tier dungeon through a quest to get the digis they want without giving it much thought, and end up with things like a Paildramon who can't evolve or several digimon they can't even fit in their party.

You don't seem to be going that way though, so there's no problem even if you pick up the pace a bit, my bad.

You don't need to give it much thought yet.
You're still early in the game, later it doesn't take long to fulfill requirements as it does now, especially if you play around with poop digimon to help.

You're only expected to have Megas around chapter 14 or so(Unless you're playing on Hard, then 11), and even then, ones that you'll eventually degenerate, ones that are easier to obtain.

Imperialdramon isn't easy to get at all, he's around the top of the list of annoying-to-get. Although that said, there ARE digis that are harder.

I take it you've noticed the training on the farm boosts your stats? You seem to wanna learn things by yourself so I won't explain how it works, it's arguably the most complicated part of the game, but there are cases that even at lv99 your digimon won't meet the status requirements to evolve, and you'll need to resort to that to increase it.
But they're not the sort of thing you'll find a lot.
It's sort of like the end-game obrigatory Dragon Pokémon with three stages every generation seems to have, which ridiculously high evolution level requirements.
