Here I am after stomping the Pontiff in the little arena area. Haven't explored much, I've just been hosting arena matches here. Get a dark spirit and mad spirit, have them duel, offer myself as the "pot", All have fun.

I was in a lull so I wandered a bit to grab some of the loot and kill the enemies when suddenly "Mad spirit Billy Mayes has invaded"

From what I can tell:

Greatlance - lategame, heaviest pike class weapon, highest base damage and requirements, higher FP cost for the WA.

LK Spear - early game, middling damage, highest dex requirement, similar scaling to the Pike (gains a C in dex at +1, don't know from there)? Also adds Poise (unsure if they have hyperarmour for this to actually be beneficial).

Pike - weakest of the class, early-mid game, lowest overall requirements, lightest.

tl;dr stick with the Lothric Spear for a quality build or hold out for the lance? Anyone got any experience with these?

So what's the point of trying anything other than 1h weapons in PVE?

I really feel that this game has no diversity because of how retarded underpowered R1 spam is. I tried UGS, I tried GS, spears and so many other weapons against all sort of enemies and I was constantly thinking to myself: why bother when R1 spam could have done twice the damage and as such be twice as safe with it.

I do not know why I feel such a huge disappointment with the lack of variety, even tho there's shitton of weapons, other than some snowflake boss weapons, they all act the same and weapons are good or bad based on how well they R1 spam.

I can't believe I am saying this, but in this respect, even Dark souls II was fun to try new things out. I am really waiting for some proper balancing with this game, but they can't/won't balance their retard R1 stagger mechanics.

I had the most fun when I fought gargoyles or anything else that wouldn't just make me a mindless R1 spam sheep.

Now some people would go and say: "hurr just don't r1 spam feggit", but I then feel like I am just playing like a retard. Legit gimping myself to excuse a game's lack of proper balancing/design.

I am not even trying to shit on the game, I loved the pve and I am writing this with absolute disappointment. I want my UGS to feel powerful, I want my GS to have that balance between fast and strong. Now all I have is a rating of R1 spam or go away.

Making the game faster, I.E adding bloodborne to it, was a huge mistake, one even worse than the lack of insight B-Team had with Dark Souls II. It's like he completely forgot what made Dark 1 so good.

Greatlance or Lothric Knight Long Spear for a 40/40 quality build?

tl;dr
>GL is heavier and has more fp cost, but also higher str scaling and base damage
>LKLS is lighter, same fp cost as the pike, higher dex scaling and adds Poise, like 7 or 8 I think.

Unsure of the length or speed difference, I assume Pike is the longest but it's also bland and the weakest. Anyone used either of these?

It makes you do something akin to a roll, only that it can't be hindered by any slow-inducing state. When you have FP, it also grants absurd amounts of iframes to the point where you can just quickstep straight sword spam if you get the timing right.

It's basically how I weave through UGS hits because you can get 1 - 2 hits in between each swing if you swing at the middle portion of their arc.
