Its just very uncommon these days for writers in some way, or its a hard concept to grasp for some people. Its like there's been a big push to line up morality to make it easier to grasp rather than having a thousand condition aspects.

Like when they try to list a vampire out as evil. The vampire cannot be inherently evil simply because it eats humans, since it needs to do that to survive. It can be considered evil depending on its own actions however or if it tortures its prey perhaps. Its just that you can't list such a thing against it any more than you would list all humans as evil for eating animal meat.

An animal/monster can't be considered evil as it lacks understanding within its own actions, but a sentient animal that had the same exact morality as humans might be considered evil.

Merlin is stated to have inhuman blood which warps his morality. It mainly just makes him very strange in some ways. He views things as simply happening, he feels very neutral, even if Camelot would fall he would simply say that its going to happen, and do nothing to stop it. Some say GoA indicated he loved Arthuria, but he couldn't realize it since his inhuman blood made him autistic. He considers this his sin, since its the first time he felt any humanity.

Yeah, because Iskandar was basically filling Shirou's role who wanted to save her from her suffering. They are continuously compared by Nasu, including by the added bonus scene in UBW epilogue where Waver is reminded of Iskandar when he meets Shirou.

He is in Nasuverse though, that's why he's the King of Conquerors, and not someone else.

Arturia didn't have the "greater struggle" if you actually bothered to read FZ, you'll realize that they are the best of what could have come out from their eras. A ruler like Arturia would be murdered the first day of her rule in Iskandar time, because she wouldn't fit for what the people of his time wanted. Same goes for Iskandar.

Only Gil sucked. Arturia refused to acknowledge him as ruler but she wanted to reach out for Iskandar after she realized he considered his men his treasure. She misunderstood him because she's a judgemental and narrowminded for half of FZ. That Saber would have told Shirou to stay the fuck out her way and send him packing to the kitchen, she wouldn't have liked him, because she only liked knights like Diarmuid.

No, I'm saying that the argument that Iskanders nation failed when he died doesn't work on two levels. One, he was a warlord who gained his nation and army based on force of will and personality, with no clear successor on the same level of skill, who died young and before the maturity that warlords sometimes gain as they age to make a proper empire. When Iskander died, his empire died with him. That could be argued as a negative, because he didn't make a dynasty, but he wasn't trying to in any real way, or if he was he didn't live long enough to see it through.

The second point is that Saber, who ruled a nation based on succession, one that is expressly designed to keep going after the rulers death, had her nation collapse BEFORE Iskanders, who had no back up for any huge schism, did. Saber didn't even die and lead into a succession problem, she just had the country collapse around her.

Saber was a worse ruler, there isn't any argument at all. Any possible 'b-but Iskander didn't build a lasting empire' falls to pieces because Sabers collapsed while she was still around.

The main problem was that Artoria never suspected of Agravain even when he was shady as fuck and actually a Morgan spy. He was the cause of most of her problems really, he was the one who spurred Mordred feelings into hate, he was the one who alineated Artoria even more by saying to the other knights all the time that the king is not human and nobody can understand the king, he was the one who was the direct cause behind of Guinevere execution.

The main problem was that Arthuria discarded her humanity, so she had no humanity left to use basic empathy/ human logic when her various people were problematic in ways that could be fixed for a ruler that had not discarded their humanity.

A machine might be able to rule a kingdom, but if its a kingdom of people we're talking about, it will run into issues. There's a reason we need humans to rule other humans since you need some human understanding of other humans.

With her humanity she could use her own humanity as a basis and realize that Agravain is shady, that Lancelot was crazy, Gawain is easily angered, and the Mordred situation can be remedied easily as long as you don't spurn her entire existence without trying since you don't mince words in an almost autistic way.

Triston also wouldn't have left, since he was disgusted by the inhuman nature of the ruler.

A machine ruler might seem good on paper, but its really one of the worst things in some ways. A king that cannot understand the grievances, problems, or misgivings of her people because she is also human and can use that as a basis to read them, cannot ever help them. A machine can only make correct pragmatic decisions, rather than lead the people.

You're missing the entire setup of Camelot. Arturia did not inherit a solid kingdom already fortified to go on a conquest spree, she inherited a title and exactly zero wealth or means. She only had Merlin's prophecy to legitimize her and had to make the knights submit to her rule by being an absolutely perfect ruler who answered to all of their expectations. That's the only reason a kingdom even existed: the first forces she ever had were suppressed by her merit, she didn't have a whole heavily-armed kingdom to begin suppressing others like Iskandar did. They hated the mere idea of serving a greater lord, Arturia's personality never mattered to them, they just needed her to show a crack so they could justify a revolt and she kept them in line by never giving them one.

Iskandar's ideology doesn't work if he's a solitary guy with an empty title and merely nominal subjects who don't want to be unified, are looking for the slightest excuse to rebel and fracture again, and the only reason anybody's going along with the whole thing is because the scary wizard made a prophecy and they need a good excuse to ignore him. The steel mask was a necessity, not just something Arturia chose arbitrarily. Iskander would have given them the excuse they needed within a week.

Here's a case where she's much more hostile because she can't guarantee he's like Deermud & willing to fight honorably. Deermud didn't oppose her ideology like this either.

What? I'm saying that his title in Japanese is: 征服王, like Saber is the King of Knights, etc. 王 is translated to us as king because it sounds cooler, but in Japanese it's ruler, which can be emperor, king, etc the one with the highest authority.

So Rameses is the King of Kings, Solomon the King of Magecraft, Altera is the King of Battlefields, etc. Same word. they are the absolute cases and example for the field. In Iskandar's case is Conquest.

Ufotable cut a scene Iskandar explicitly tells Arturia to relax because she's judging him about his way of kingship being different from hers and he says that it's to be expected. It was Arturia who insisted this shit. That's why he shows up to argue about it because she sought it.

Ufotable pretty much made her a random victim, when she was fairly walking herself into that argument by her self righteousness.
