So I haven't touched magic after doing my first playthrough (quality dark sword build did work). Thinking of making a sorcerer character next but I'm hearing they're not that great this time around? Partially because you need 60 INT to make it good. Is pyromancy better, then?

I'm at 40 Faith, 33 Strength with a lightning infused sword right now -- does it make sense to defuse it so I can buff it with lightning blade? Does lightning blade even scale with faith? I need something to spend my MP on because all the miracles I have suck dick.

New player here, just got the game. Could anyone help with a few questions?

- I have some gems that I can infuse weapons with (like the fire gem). If I infuse a weapon, can I go back later and change its infusion to something else? And if so, will it lose any of its upgrades in the process? (e.g. if I have a infused +2 sword and change its infusion will it go back to +0?)

- I just got the Astora Straight Sword, and it looks like it requires 12 Faith to wield effectively.What's the difference if I try to use it without 12 faith? I noticed it seems to take more stamina than a longsword - will that decrease if I level up faith to 12?

Go back to ice city, just before the third bonfire (distant manor, something like this), there's another entrance to the sewers. Go through there to progress the game.

I liked the idea of the Cursed-Rotted Greatwood but it could have been executed better. It didn't try it's rolling attack enough to close the gap and it was so big that when you rolled near it the camera just clipped through. I don't know if it was a glitch or not but it was funny how common enemies would keep spawning and falling to their deaths in the second phase though.

Fucking hell the early game in DS3 is boring. Spells, Miracles and Pyromancy are all trash (and the actually usable spells are late in the game) so you're stuck with STR, DEX or Quality builds and within that subset you're forced into a fairly small group of weapons.

You have to kill the Curse-rotted Greatwood to get the transposing kiln, then give it to the Midget of Cinder at Firelink Shrine. From there on you get about two options for each bosses' soul to craft into for cheap. It's usually 0 although I think I saw one for 1,500 . Nothing like a +10 sword either.

I didn't get a very clear answer from a earlier thread, can someone answer me this question? The wiki doesn't explain very well and there doesn't seem to be any videos clearly explaining the effects of being hollow and how to quickly finish Yeol's questline.

So what are the effects of Dark Sigils and hollowing? How do I finish Yeol's quest? Do I simply die a bunch of times, get the Purging Stone from Yuria, kill her dead for the dust, and move on? Is there any other way to get the most out of this quest or is this it? Someone also previously said being hollow forces an ending, is this true? How do I get the free levels as quickly as possible?

It makes a small difference, but it's probably not worth upgrading Vit just to wear better armor.

You get a boost to the "Defense" stat just for wearing armor in every slot, so it's worth at least wearing the lightest armor possible. This appears to function like the Defense stat of previous games, so it's more effective against weaker attacks than heavier ones.

The armors themselves give "Absorption", which appears to be a direct % reduction of damage taken after Defense if factored in. So having 20.0 Absorption means you take 20% less damage.

I did some testing against the silver knight archers (since their arrows always deal the same damage):

Wearing the lightest armor possible (~5 Absorption) caused me to take 15% less damage than being naked.
Wearing medium armor (~20 Absorption) caused me to take ~26% less damage than naked.
Wearing full Havel's set (~30 Absorption) caused me to take ~35% less damage than naked.
And full Havel's + Steel Protection ring (~38 Absorption) was ~42% less damage than naked.

So there is a noticeable difference. However, the defense to weight ratio on heavy armor can be pretty terrible. You're probably better off with light-medium armor + Steel Protection than anything else.
