Different weapons have different required stats, and different scaling. Some swords use str some use dex. It depends on the sword you want to use, but most will use both. I would suggest getting both to 12/14 and then putting points into what would suit the sword best. Have fun and goodluck!

This game really is a love letter to Dark Souls 1. The intro/tutorial area has the same kind of progression as the Undead Asylum, culminating in a big boss fight at the end, and Lothrac has a very similar feel to Undead Burg, right down the the Dragon who swoops down and burns a whole lot of skeletons.

It's really useful being able to equip early on.If you defeat the uchigatana guy, you can use a glitch that will let you defeat the Dancer early. You have to kill Emma, though.
If you do it, you can run around Lothric Castle and get chunks, large shards, an estus flask shard, a badass crossbow, the grand lance, titanite scales, twinkling titanite, some embers, and an armor set.

Easy way is to use ds4windows. Make sure steam is closed. Use the "experimental" connect exclusively button. Check log to verify there wasn't an error re: exclusive mode. Open steam, hit play, you're good to go.
You can probably do the same w/ input mapper by killing explorer process manually. Win10 sux.

Dual wielding is limited to specific weapons. You can put an actual weapon in your left hand if you want to, though, but it works like DaSI where you block with the R1 and strike with the R2.

I've made character, I picked herald. I can very very nearly kill the blue crystal thing, twice now i've had him to a sliver of health before falling myself. If I keep it up i'll succeed there.
My problem is Iudex, I can get him to phase two reliably enough but as soon as he transforms I find I can't keep track of him any longer, his large size seems to confuse my eyes and I just can't keep up.
Could any of you give any advice for someone who usually plays Train Simulator, not Dark souls! Haha.

So this Lothric Knight Helm I found seems to be crashing my game. When I equip it the game crashes after I take two steps when I take it off everything is fine.

Hey /dsg/, I played DS and DaS, but skipped DaS2 and didn't play much of Bloodborne. I'm quite rusty.
I tend to like melee builds. Would it suit me better to go dex, or str? Or both? I understand that you can respec; would it be a terrible idea to do both str and dex for a while?
Also, how much emphasis should I put on my other stats?
Don't plan to PVP much, I'm a pretty casual player, if that matters at all.
