Nah, sometimes the last tick can be when the dot falls off, and it can also be at 1-2 seconds. Refreshing at 1-2 seconds can make you lose the last tick so it just depends. It's the safest bet to just refresh once it falls off when that is an option, but realistically it always isnt, which is why 1-2s every time is still okay.

Realistically its better to clip, but if you're trying to min/max for an a8s dummy like the anon mentioned then you do your best to refresh right at <0 in case the last DoT tick occurs at that point, which is completely dependent on the server.

Fights dont end when your dots run out, have an example.
If a fight ends at 1:20, and you have a 30 second dot, you'll want to apply it 3 times total. As long as the dot has 100% uptime, clipping it 2 seconds early wont change how the fight ends because you'll still get the same amount of damage GCDs, you just swapped the placement of your dot and the gcd afterwards. You would end on the same GCD regardless.

This is compared to letting the dot itself drop, so you keep the same rotation again but this time youre missing 1 dot tick you dont normally get.

Obviously this doesnt take into account for buffs, but its just something to note.

Anytime a boss goes invul the same rule applies too. And basically every boss has that in midas.

Oh yeah I forgot Gil Toss being one of the main commands of Samurai but my way of implementing is making it a (long?) CD coin flip mechanic so it's RNG heavy by 50/50 with the chance of making the next weaponskill used x3 the damage, critical hits allowed. (That might be too broken though)
Of course, I'd say this should be just to fluff up damage only, but not really necessary.
