I use bushido lance regularly. I like the triple poke and ease of using guard advance with striker lance. It can be more aggressive than waiting to counter moves because you can put the counter inbetween attacks rather than dodging first. It also looks cooler imo. I enjoy both styles but I don't like being forced to use one because even with guard +2 ferocious monster attacks do massive chip and knock you back.

Does Lasting Power affect Wystones? I know it affects most timed duration items (hot/cold drinks, adamant pills, might seeds, etc.) but I couldn't find any reference to the skill affecting Wystones.

If it doesn't, what skill do you guys recommend I gem in? I've looked at Mycology and Sharpener. This is for a G-Rank Insect Glaive set, the Chameleos one if it matters.

He clearly isn't saying monster hunter won't come out on them because of the shit cpu, that would be stupid when outside of the MMOs MH has only come out on platforms with even worse cpus in the past. He's simply bemoaning the fact that, if MH were to come out on PS4 (the original postulate), it would likely have framerate issues because of the poor CPU and/or be limited in what it could pull off for the same reason.

That said, the 3DS games frequently dip sub-30 even on the n3ds, with 4U sometimes going down to 10-15 with four-player hunts and X/Gens apparently being even worse, and this is despite the fact that they have very low-res textures, archaic animations and most importantly play on a 240p screen. Even 3U on the wii u runs at a silky smooth ~20 fps even singleplayer in moga village if you play it on an HD display rather than the gamepad screen.

I already have Bombardier gemmed in for when I use my relic IG with blastblight; I'm looking for an alternate setup to help against monsters that do their own/are highly resistant to blastblight, so Biology is looking nice. Using Star Knight with IG, so gemming in Tremor Resist and Mounting is pointless.

I've got Mounting God, Challenger +2, Steady Hand, Sharpness+1, and Partbreaker. I've only got 5 slots, one 3-slot piece and one 2-slot piece, so I won't be able to get even Attack Up (S). I might go for Protection, but it's unreliable so I'm hesitant. Thanks for confirming Lasting Power doesn't work for wystones.

At the very least, it doesn't seem like there's One True Answer, so I feel comfortable going with my gut/experimenting for a bit.

Yeah, 5 slot skills are generally down to preference.

Partbreaker isn't that great. It makes posts break 30% faster and makes staggers on breakable parts happen faster, but doesn't affect damage and the stagger effect goes away once the part breaks.

It charges fast anyway, and faster as the charge level increases, and outside of 4U it can stay at red the whole fight once it gets there, and you can work jabs that build spirit into your spirit combo so it's not like you even need a full bar or whatever to do that. Fast charge affects a lot of weapons but is only really a necessity on GS, its effects range from mildly convenient (LS, CB) to negligible (bow) on other weapons.

Why even post it unless you can solo it or at least nearly solo it? I'll never understand these people in G crown. I get it in lower ranks so you can unlock stuff but why bother leveling a GQ to 140 if you cart the moment the monster turns its attention on you? How is it fun to be completely out skilled by a monster you have no hope against? GQs should only level up if the host does over 25% of the damage to the monster or something similar to stop unskilled players from posting beyond their skill cap.

Going from MH4U to P3rd as a solo player is fantastic.

I hate G rank. The new moves are sometimes bullshit. The HR armor redesigns are almost always worse. The HP/Def pool is massive. It's like it was made for multiplayer only. It turns HR into just another stepping stone to the end game. Monster Hunter games with only LR/HR are always better designed.

If I want a rathian tail, I can do LR or HR just to farm it. Only certain generic materials have HR version, and HR has better drop rates for rarer stuff like gems or plates. But G rank has to be dick. Rathian tails are now Rathian lashes. Rathian plates are now mantles. You will be fighting that one mob in g rank and only that version.

There's no reason to include a third rank, and even less reason to make a "multiplayer-only" rank.

The ideal Monster Hunter game has a LR/HR for singleplayer (village) and a LR/HR for multiplayer, both scaled for the appropriate number of players. That way you can make HR multi an actual challenge (4 player hunts are a joke most of the time) no matter the player count. Also it means none of this bullshit where the entire community is in a single rank that's surprisingly hard to reach solo. Try doing dalamadur HR7 solo with only HR gear. It's a pain the ass.

1 makes you git gud way better and can be comfy since nobody judges you, plus it makes monsters 200% more predictable
2 is what the game is clearly designed around and you can chill with a friend; there's a reason there's the idiom "two's company, three's a crowd" after all

I feel like you must not understand how this game works if you
1: think any skill is NECESSARY and
2: think all there is to the game is going in and attempting something over and over until you succeed

It's not just a button mashing hack and slash game, it's a high skill reflex-based game like Dark Souls is for instance except with more stress on learning how the enemies behave and positioning yourself well rather than just having great reaction time and weapon knowledge (though the latter is very much a thing in both games, granted weapons are more complex in MH and diverse in Souls). It also isn't an RPG where success is reliant on numbers tied to your character, though those can help. You can succeed with just a level-appropriate weapon and a lot of player skill.

Of course you specifically reference plesioth who is notoriously one of the worst monsters in the series so there's that.

It's late and i tried to be funny. Let me rephrase it for you.

I think it's funny and/or interesting that i've put a hundred hours in a game, and still feel like i'm missing a lot of the experience, since I read posts in this general that I don't fully understand yet.

I also own mh4u, and i still don't know what it's like to fight a apex rajang or whatever.

A hundred hours is a lot, in other games you would've perhaps completed all the side quests or you'd be enjoying yourself with the end game content. Perhaps i'm just shit, or i like to take my time and i do too much gathering, but i'm not G-rank yet.

Not even that, but i'm apparently not even at a point where I have to think about putting together carefully selected pieces of armor in order to get the right set of skills, since i don't have that much problems with any monsters.


I enjoy both games, i'm getting generations, and I play it for the sense of satisfaction i get after spending time on killing something. But i sometimes have the feeling i'm missing out on content because I can't spend 300 hours on the game. It's cool though, nobody has to.

Say for whatever retarded reason I wanted to make Amatsu's SA work in MHX. It has the highest raw on a power phial axe in the game, but with -20% affinity (hunting art brings it up to 10%). It has small blue and large green, and gains a big chunk of white with S+2. That said, I really love what it looks like.

Would it be better to try to make it into an Obtuse Blade set due to the small blue, or should I suck it up and use S+2, potentially limiting what damage skills I can stack?

A Blunt set would work better with the maxed out Beruna Axe, since it doesn't have to fuck around with dropping from Blue.
S+2 would be your best bet in making it somewhat useful.
Could try an Ember Blade mix, depending on what charms you're packing.
