I am going to play the game serious with a new character and probably using skill injectors to skip a few weeks of zzz. Are there any...guides out there that show what ships for medium/smallscale PvP are the best and all the skills needed for it? Something BELOW 3-4M SP that would be useful in one of the newshitter corps

destroyers and battlecruisers are strange in-between classes. frigates/cruisers/battleships are the normal classes. they shoot things. they are good at shooting things their own size, don't do enough damage to kill bigger things effectively, and have some difficulty hitting smaller things

Roles aren't tied to ship size, there are tackle frigs, but there is also cruisers that can tackle for example. A destroyer or battlecruiser are ship sizes. In this case destroyers and battlecruisers tech 1 versions are mostly dps boats that are able to deal a lot of hurt for their size.

battlecruisers provide heavy hitting in small gang and can be a fun solo platform.

destroyers are the common low sp small gang dps - they have much more firepower than frigates and together they can kill remarkable things, but they have similar amounts of tank.

some frigates are usually essential in most fleets. they warp fast and fly fast and so they allow you to gain tackle before your target has seen that shit has hit the fan and tries to leave.

a medium sp gangs of deacon/thalia frig armor logi and confessors for dps hits really hard.

just pick the race you like the most when you start the game, it gives you some fluff about them. I like to post pictures of dogs and pretend the dog's face represents my opinion of amarr ships, but honestly all 4 races have a mix of good and bad stuff. plus you can fly whatever you like, the race your character is, all races, whatever you want

No, all races have excellent ships that you should train for, restricting yourself to one race is boring and severely limiting as a pilot. Training all racial cruisers + weapon systems to 3 should be less than a week if you don't mess around with your skillque, you might want to go and get some advanced ship for some race depending on what you do, but don't be a race purist, despite the eog memes.

This is highly dependant because the Omen Navy Issue is one of the fastest cruisers in the game while other ships from other "fast races" are actually pretty slow, like Stabber Fleet Issue is slower than a regular stabber.

Race does not matter. Occupation does.

Decide what you want to do and skill into that field, hopping between races while with skills in the field is easy.

For instance, if you are an incursion runner most of your skillpoints are located in gunnery and drones. Jumping between diffirent ships is not a problem usually. However, if you decide to do let's say stealthbombing, suddenly you are facing a new set of prioroties and you can throw your drones&guns out of the window in favour of missiles.

But if you REALLY want to be one of those people who need a ship as a goal, take a T3 cruiser. That would be Legion, Tengu, Proteus or Loki. Do all your basic skills first, all to level 5.

It's a huge pain in the fucking ass, and the skill mechanic is goddamn retarded, but you'll be fucking thankful you trained all the fitting skills to 5 if you're still playing the game 5 months from now.

Easiest thing to do is get as much to level 3 as you can, and then specialize in the specific areas you want to start with; e.g. skip getting shield skills to 4 when you want to fly armor boats.

EWAR stuff is probably one of the easiest/fastest things to skill into and is simultaneously extremely effective in PVP when working with a group (which you should be).

Personally, I focused into skirmishing with the navy slicer at first, and then into interceptors for fast tackling later on. Now I'm mostly doing stuff with command destroyers and t3 destroyers. I'm avoiding the bigger ships because they're honestly not fun to fly and the losses hurt the pockets a lot more.

Also, get out of tech 1 asap unless you can't afford better or need to practice. Tech 1 is literally cannonfodder tier.

You're fucked if you get caught doing that kind of shit though. I usually use something like a tanked out dramiel or astero. Sub 3 second warp time and 20-25k ehp. Almost impossible to kill in highsec unless you fuck up with undocks.

A safer form of arbitrage is just getting some other schmuck to ship for you. Consider the transportation fee to be your insurance cost in case of a loss of shipment. You add an additional 3-5% overhead so it cuts on profits quite a bit depending on margin, but you also never run into a situation where you lose 10bn cargo that might represent 4+ months worth of work.

I've gone from rags to 50bn in riches over a few months trading.

Here's the tl;dr

1. get lucky
2. you'll make most of your isk with good predictions/speculation on patch releases
3. Don't do 0.01isk bullshit, it'll burn you out and you're competing with actual bots (and they never get banned/controlled so don't even bother trying to report them)
4. It starts out slow, then ramps up fast once you've got a few billion to your name, and then goes back to being slow because wtf can you invest 50bn fucking isk into?
5. don't buy into the plex investment meme, there's a lot of traders right now who think it's gonna go down after fanfest and I suspect some insider info is getting around quietly
6. get some trader friends/acquaintances to idly chat with, they'll tip you off about market manipulations
7. get your taxes and fees as low as possible asap it will save you billions in the long run

I went for the exploration agent missions to start with, first mission was easy, then I have this assignement, where I needed to buy core probe launcher as well as some scanner probes ( figured it out myself ), now I'm finding out that to complete the mission I'll also need hacking 1, which requires electronics upgrades 3, which takes several hours.

so, two questions :
I bought the skillbooks from the market to be able to train those 2 skills, was it the right move ? The mission didnt tell me anything about it, so I supposed I had figure it out myself & buy them, they were cheap so its ok.

Can I do anything else meanwhile ? I'm currently orbiting the container while alt tabbed.

If you do highsec missions, expect anywhere from 50-150 mil depending on the missions you get, how experienced you are and how dedicated you are to running these missions.
