You know, as fun and varied as Gungeon looks and as much as I'm looking forward to it, the gunplay looks, sounds and feels like shit. Totally weak, no oomph behind it, no real feedback. Fucking pea-shooters all around.
More devs need to take Vlambeer as an example in this regard.

Still, going to give it a shot just for the glorious 60 fps. Maybe I'll be able to play this one without getting eye cancer after 30 minutes.

Melee helps greatly. Work on your positioning, try not to get yourself into spots where you're susceptible to fire from multiple angles. You can take the Oasis skip if you're a fucking pussy

The Oasis lowers the difficulty since difficulty scaling is based on the number of portals you exit. This means lower numbers of enemies, but also lower tiered weapon drops. You can get a Golden Weapon and store it on melting to make things easier, or do the opposite and max out the difficulty by going to the Pizza Sewers and both Crown Vaults while also going to the Cursed Crystal Caves to ensure that you're at Ultra before you even get to Lil' Hunter

Okay /ntg/, I could use some help. I tried to start the game for the first time since January, so since 0.98. It doesn't launch.
I press the play button in steam, the " - Running" appears next to the game, nothing happens, the running disappears.
I verified the cache several times, nothing was missing. I deleted everything and re-installed, twice. No dice.
I tried starting the .exe itself, with and without admin rights. No change. I moved the steam_api out of the folder, no change. I moved my save file elsewhere and disabled cloud saves, the game still refuses to start.
Same hardware and software as before, it was running fine back in January apart from the occasional crash.

Any ideas?

I know you guys probably dabbled with tier lists at some point, there's no shame in that we've all been there.

I was wondering whether you'd done a tier list of characters for each mutation; for example rhino skin, you'd probably have melting top tier because it's one of the most valuable mutations for him.

I've noticed that after I started to use Melee weapons more often, the game became easier. Not because they are overpowered or anything, but because when you're up in their faces whacking away and not behind cover waiting for them to blow their load for you to pop back out, you start to learn how to weave through the bullets.
Also, if you play YV, get Shotgun Shoulders, track down a Flak Cannon, Throne Butt it up, screen clear.
