I've been reading the Skullgirls page on TV Tropes, which lists the game's universe as a quote-unquote "Crapsack World". The section for Crapsack World described the Canopy Kingdom as a police state. I want a discussion for this: how far would you guys argue that the Canopy Kingdom really is a police state. Sure there is the obvious Third Reich imagery of the Egrets, but Parasoul seems to genuinely care for her people. Also, Mike Z described the Egrets as "welcoming recruits from all walks of life". So, do you guys think Canopy could be compared with the Soviet Union or the Imperium?

I do interpret the Egrets to be a small elite unit, similar to the Waffen SS or the British Red Berets. If the Egrets are modelled after the Wehrmacht, and the Kingdom in general has a 1940s America vibe, one has to wonder what the regular troops look like. From what I remember, No Man's Land is a desert graveyard/wasteland. There was a stage in the original Skullgirls demo (before Mike Z's engine) where there was a giant Gigan's skull as part of the background and other bones in the middle of a desert.

There was a discussion here a while back where anons came to the conclusion that No Man's Land was the area where all the kingdoms joined forces to put down Skullgirl Nancy. I imagine it probably was a civilized area that Nancy had leveled during her onslaught, or was the main 'warfront' before Nancy showed up, or both, so that the destruction and warring left this place uninhabitable. There's a pic drawn by Alex of a bunch of Gigans lined up against Tank guys, could have been set there.

Lab Zero never liked the shots, so once they had the money and time to change them, they did. real simple.
they're the devs, they built this stuff. if sumthin bugs em they deal with it.

at one point they removed glitches that some people liked, and then they changed some frames some people liked.
it's no big deal, we move on.

and they only covered the panties for Filia-Down, Cerebella-Down, and Cerecopter. that's nothing.
If it was about Ratings or SJWs, they'd have to make a LO-O-O-T more changes than those!

and ain't nobody with real common sense gonna go through the hours of labor it'd take just to mod back in
less than 1% of the game's pantyshots that you barely had time to look at anyway.

If you ever done a sound mod for SG, you know that the program just spills out a big fat list of files you have
to go through. so imagine a list of files like 100x bigger for all of the characters frames
So even if a modder ever cracked the sprite files, they'd still have to go through like hundreds and hundreds
of existing pantyshot frames just to find the 6-sumthin files for the edited ones!

The point is that even with it, grapplers don't have polarized matchups against zoners nor vice versa (no pun intended.) I can understand that people would find that more fair than the alternative.
Without anti-zoning specific tools, Cerebella might have been given more general tools to balance those matchups that would in turn tilt matchups against other, non-zoning characters in her favor, leading to a lot more design differences for the sake of balance.

Just so you know, Cerebella doesn't have to react to the Cannon start up animation and then reflect before the flash goes off.

She can start blocking the beam and then PBGC Reflector and combo from good distances.

PBGC H Run is much better because that gets you a combo from fullscreen almost.

Robo should just not be throwing out Cannon fullscreen unless she has two bars.
You can poke with Cannon or frame trap them from an L Beam.. but if you made a mistake then you just need to safe DHC out on the first blocked hit of beam to prevent PBGC punishes.

Run, LNLH, Battle Butt are not very solid solutions to zoning for things like Peacock + a proper assist.
They are good vs RF, but that doesn't mean she needs to lose their viability for fighting against Peacock.

Reflector is fine the way it is.

RF just has to play smart and zone well, which is having a back up plan for a random Cannon.
