Firstly, you shouldn't really be vassaling, but it's a forgiveable mistake in your first playthrough.

And then they get these light novels which are based on webnovels and pay an anime producer to make an anime.

And because webnovels are amateur/hobby stuff there is a lot of wish fulfillment and a lot of trend following and reincarnation is really popular wish fulfillment stuff. Plus because it's amateur stuff you get a lot of references to stuff the author likes.
