Is3 was historically a piece of shit that ripped itself apart because the side armor wasn't strong enough structurally, causing the engine mounts to shear off. It was replaced as soon as possible with only the turrets being used as pillboxes. All it did was scare tye west into making a competent tank.

Not to mention the kv-1 was mostly a failure after the germans stopped using interwar bullshit as it was just a slow t-34

With the t-34 being a horrible piece of shit in terms of ergonomics and while being quoted as cheap actually managed to be a worse tank than the pz4 while having a similar price

To expand upon this, the RU heavies are the most forgiving tanks in the game, with armor and guns designed to make close range fights your bread and butter. Due to their absurdly armored nature and ability to bully lower tiered tanks with near impunity, they are good vehicles to learn in, because you can try new things without guaranteeing your death. The USA heavies will teach you how to take tanks that are mediocre in all aspects but have one strong point and leverage that. It happens to be a pretty ubiquitous skill as well, going "hull down" where you hide the hull of your tank and only leave your heavily armored turret poking out for the enemy to bounce on.

After these, get your russian mediums on the t62a/object 140 lines. These will teach you how to use superior mobility and DPM instead of armor to win games. After that, french autoloading heavies will teach you how to play autoloaders. At this point, you'll know how to play pretty much any tank you come across, so you could go for some NATO mediums to get a feel for their extra firepower, or even some TDs.

Also get the T-28 and grind the KV-1 to the KV 85 and through the IS series.

High tier Lights can be tricky for new players so you might want to go through the T-34-85.

The trouble here is that the T-44 isnt that good and the lightweight is a keeper.

You'll want to keep the IS-3, lightweight, T 62a/140 for sure.

Other tanks that are sometimes used in Clan Wars, Strongholds, Tank Companies are T-34-85, KV-85 and the IS-7.

In addition the T-34 and T-54 are fun tanks that you might want to keep.

But yeah you should still do the Russian heavies first before anything. If you do, you'll have good experiences (except the shitty tier 9) grinding to the IS-7. The IS-7 is the good russian heavy, by the way, so you'll basically be playing the KV-1 and then the KV-1S (which is called the best tier 5 medium because it's so mobile and armored with such brutal guns), followed by kv-85 (the 100mm is the best gun, its damage per minute is brutal), then the IS, which is good with its big 390 alpha boomstick, then the is-3 with its great armor and great gun and good enough mobility, then the is-8 which has baller side armor but trash frontal. Good gun though. Then you get to the is-7, where you can facehug people, hull down and become a god, enjoy an alpha damage (damage per shot) advantage, have side armor that trolls many guns regularly, good mobility, and if you shoot a little APCR, good penetration too.
