The balance is better because there's no dumbass passives and spammable signature moves breaking the shit out of Digimon, they effectively gave a "fuck you" to all the tedious bullshit and packed it down so much that you can get an Ultimate level digimon within a day or two, there's not shit to wait for like the Farm and i'd argue that you're closer to your Digimon given how there's only 2 rather than like fucking 60 in the farm who send you emails occasionally or 13 that never say anything.

The roster is a little tragic yes but it's only about maybe a 20 digimon difference that'll get smaller with DLC. Personally i'd give CS Music+Story and that's about it since they basically unfucked the WORST part about the DW system which is getting what you want and then losing it to time shit.

I believe watching the kids develop their relationship with their partners, as well as build their philosophies on what digimon are to them, to be one of the more interesting parts of Tamers. There's a way to Jogress though, outside of ExE. Either between your 2 digis, or if the rank of the facility is high enough, between one of them and a digimon you recruited, that way you can have 2 Jogresses. This can also get the ExE digis.
And of course, evolution items still exist, and are hilariously easy to get. I have 16 Alter-B items without even trying.
