if you really get into the loot grind and random dungeon generator (chaos labyrinth and tower of something) you can easily spend dozens and even hundreds of hours on it.

It got several HUGE updates post release, art is amazing as per vanillaware standards, music is also up to snuff, controls can get a bit of getting used to, but its definitely rewarding, each class is pretty different and lastly the game can be as easy or hard as you want it to be

framerate dips are noticeable but perfectly playable, unless you have three wizards casting blizzard...

Alright I guess I'll ask you guys, 8v was not that helpful

So, long story short, I need something new to play, either for vita or n3ds, i dont care which, though my vita has gotten less love over its life and seems to have some nicer titles over all

Anyway, I've played p4g, ys:moc, gravity rush, ze:vlr, sly:tot, and ... something else off that list I cant remember right now

But I'm having a hard time picking something new to play. I have a LOT of downtime at work, and they dont care if I play games during it, so usually i spend 3-4 hours a night on average doing that, and want something thatll kill a lot of time

I've looked at the SAO title, the combat looks boring as all fuck and completely unchallenging. Looked at corpse party, but $65 for all three is a bit pricey, I want to get Salt and Sanc but its not out yet cause I love me some DS1. Looked at Teki(?) as a mh4u game since that took 300 hours of my life, but while its flashy, it looks mindnumbingly easy

So, basically, what would you guys recommend? Rpgs, action, adventure, maybe not visual novel type games since reading or listening with no action tends to make me sleepy after to long, preferably something with a good pace to combat, maybe with social interactions like P4G that evolve and make the story much better... maybe flashy maybe not, I just finished replaying Chrono Cross on it and it kept my attention (4th or 5th replay of the game though, so done in 24 hours PT, dont really feel like going through it again), so really graphics arent all that important

Not opposed to PSP titles, or ps1/2 titles on the store (didnt get to many RPGs back then, FF series mainly, and MGS for TPS/story games)

So, you guys got any suggestions? Have some P4G hotties for your troubles

The Atelier games are legit good JRPGs if you don't mind the overwhelming cuteness.

Freedom Wars and Soul Sacrifice Delta are good hunting type games. Dragon's Crown, if you like beat 'em ups. Hotline Miami if you like shmups.

Freedom wars is a nice hunting game, not much variety but the guns and the torn make it play really well.
SSD is great as well.
There's also tons of DRPG's in case you want to try them, Demon Gaze is a great starting point.

And there are some events that happen if affection is high enough if you choose to interact with them instead of train for the day.

That said, even if you just stitched all of the VN scenes together, I doubt it's enough to be anywhere near how "full length" you're looking for.

I'm okay with the dungeon crawler games, they arent my favorite. Probably DG or DT2 if I feel like another one. But I just beat etrian odyssey 2 for 3ds a few weeks back, and I still havent finished personaQ (... I cant, it seems so fucking pointless knowing its all irrelevant to any story of the other games). I WANT to play P3 but fuck all I dont want the half-version or w/e thats actually on the store. But either way I'm full up on dungeon crawlers for now. ToCS is easily 60+ hours and if you talk to NPCs after each story event (worth doing at the school, not so much for most townspeople), it can be 80+ hours. The game provides a lot of detail for the world and it's cool to see how the NPCs are living out their lives.

Some parts of it are similar to Persona 4 which you seem to like.

Pretty good.
Runs about the same as Shinovi Versus, but it looks quite a bit better. Load times are a bit shorter to start a level, but have a few seconds loading right after you kill the wave of enemies right before the girls show up. Having it broken up like this is much easier to handle than the super long load times that SV had.
If you liked SV then I'd definitely recommend it.

it makes for some odd match ups
it's all fairly dynamic which certainly makes things interesting

it's fun
I like it more than DW8E though the character editor is worse
but the gameplay is far better because character switching is just the greatest thing added to a warriors game ever
lets you control the battlefield even more on top of the standard ordering the troops around
And encourages more TACTICS and STRATEGY and the formation and battle tactics systems certainly feel a bit more tactical.
I like the feel of knowing I won a battle because I used greater STRATEGIES even when the enemy had better numbers.
