>Can the game be considered a full release?
No, for all intents and purposes, KSP should be considered still in early access state. The game is nowhere near being able to stand on its own legs both from a gameplay perspective (career mode is definitely not ready and balanced) and a stability perspective. There are still major bugs and memory leaks that shouldn't exist on a finished game.

Bugs and instability are still real and frequent problems, as with every product still in beta. Ask in thread for details.

Modified versions of popular mods are being included in the stock game while the game engine is being upgraded to its latest version. The next major update (1.1) is supposedly going to bring a complete overhaul of the GUI, be 64bit friendly, have a refined physics/heating/aero model and generally perform better. An external team with heavily questionable experience (Flying Tiger Entertainment) is being tasked with porting the game to PS4, XboxOne and Wii U. They seem to be rushing for an imminent deadline and they are also working on a version of the game that will be obsolete in a few weeks/months.

KSP is very enjoyable at first, then it usually needs to be modded to retain some sort of longevity, but doing so may dramatically increase the instability of the game. You will be very familiar with the word "Oops!". The Developers, Squad, have shown many times that they can't handle the project and are trying to squeeze all the money they can with the least amount of effort and with controversial PR tactics. The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game, not because the game itself is unplayable, but because most of us agree that Squad does not deserve your money.

Yeah, that shot is GE painted over. We needed some concepts showing full flow of the game (map-customization-battle), hence the rushed UI/paintovers. Main bulk of the work was on the art pipeline and other stuff actually useful in early development. But you've got to communicate the idea of your game to people somehow, even at the early stage, so yeah.
Looking forward to having the time to design a terrain from scratch, do fancy erosion pass in World Machine and so on.

How you set up your economy depends entirely on what kind of gameplay you want to create and encourage. KSP has the problem that space travel requires huge periods of doing nothing, which sucks. One option around that is skipping past the boring bits to reach the interesting bits, as in Kerbal Alarm Clock with warp-to. Another is to reduce but not eliminate the boring bit, which is what stock KSP does. A third option is to go do something else, which recurring costs encourage as travel distance increases. This method creates a natural difficulty curve that rises with distance from the body, and gives you reason to choose between Hohmann transfer and faster methods. Meaningful choices such as these made in the face of challenges are what makes gameplay enjoyable.

I also think that, unfortunately, we are far too late for any major change in the game to happen. Space hotels and NPCs, really? Do you seriously think that would ever happen? How parts work is behaviour. Behaviour is defined in code. If you're comfortable with writing a simple C# plugin (actually a pretty good beginner plugin):
Where the temperature returned is read from is defined in the part module "ModuleEnviroSensor". You'll want to write your own PartModule plugin, say "ModulePartTempSensor".
The enviro sensor module is pretty simple. It just writes the temperature number to the right-click menu. Displaying a number in the right click menu is pretty simple: You just make a public variable and add this annotation above it:
[KSPField(guiName = "Text to display", guiActive = true)]
It likely uses this.part.temperature to get the value for the current part (the thermometer). In your module, you'll use this.part.parent.temperature (being sure to check that parent isn't null to avoid throwing errors when the thermometer gets detached). Save that to your public variable and you're pretty much done. There are plenty of tutorials and example projects for right-click menu mods.
