This is actually an interesting though. Characters don't just "vanish" from existence, instead they brutally die in one way or another. When Elizabeth drowned Booker, Comstock wasn't just being erased from history, he was dying in a million different ways. The same unfortunately applies to Elizabeth, seeing how the Big Daddy killed her after Comstock died.

I've always seen bioshock 1 as the middle child. I enjoyed it but it still had a lot to be improved upon that was done in bioshock 2. Bioshock Infinite did feel quite lacking though.
