So when I discovered Skullgirls, I was a big Cerebella fan, but now I actually think Ajna's starting to become my favorite Labzero character.
She's most of what I like about Bella (cute spunky brown buttkicking tomboy) but taken up just a notch.

I hope the story develops her well, so she doesn't end up like a Korra character, but I have confidence in Labzero. Based on Skullgirls, I think they'll focus first on making fun personalities and gameplay, instead of bogging everything down with forced love triangles and convoluted arcs with no payoff.

I still need to back the game for my copy, but I'mma get on that soon. I'm really happy it got funded!

If he hits you he can get some really disgusting stuff going, but most of it leaves you on the ground which means you still have access to reversals if you don't want to guess high low throw.

His neutral isn't as good as other characters.

He's pretty decent if he can make you block something and then call an assist to hold you in place long enough for him to dash back in after getting pushblocked out, and still hit with you with high low after you leave blockstun.

My old laptop can barely run Risk of Rain on the lowest settings without stuttering, but I can run Skullgirls at 50-60 fps with only stuttering during supers and spammy projectiles. Either RoR is badly optimized or Skullgirls is impressively optimized. Which one is it?

GM is pretty resource heavy, regardless of how the game's graphics look, and it always had a tendency to sputter on older or weaker systems.
It's probably gotten worse for any games made in newer versions of GM too.

SG was carefully optimized in a custom engine, so it does its job especially well.
Also helps that Mike Z worked from an old laptop while he tested it.

Remember, it's not the number of Hits that matters, it's the Damage. An 8 Hit combo in SFV does relatively more damage than many 30 Hit combos in SG. Likewise, some characters in SG do a lot of damage with very few hits, and don't even get much mileage out of long combos if they don't use Meter. How you plan your combo matters a lot.

Multi-hitting moves add to your hit count, but can scale your combo to do very little damage. Make sure you keep Attack Data on in Training mode to check your damage output while you practice.

Also, keep an eye on how much meter your opponent gains when the combo is over, since they could quickly use that to turn the tide against you in a match.

Pretty much. Yeah, lights are still good because they're reliable, and sometimes the only moves that are quick enough to punish and get the first hit. Sometimes you need to use multihit moves too if it helps you bridge a string or prevent IPS,

Like with Big Band, you kinda have to use his lights a lot bcuz they're so good, but never ever start with the mashable multihit version like mash c.LP or mash after Beat Extend(DP). In some combos tho, like an air-to-ground sequence, you might still need to use all of the hits of his LK during a jump in order to position yourself for the rest of the combo. Just gotta fool around to see what works best.

At maximum scaling when things start doing 20% of their damage...

So if the opponent only has a little bit of health left, and your scaling is at maximum, you want to do:
sLP sLP sLP cLK cLK sMP sMP sMK sHK sHK sHK x H Bypass xx EKG Flatliner

If your scaling is not at maximum, you'll get more damage from sHP x H Bypass x Flatliner.

A good example of when you can substitute for more damage but less consistency imo is Parasoul.

Parasoul starts some of her confirms like cLK cMK sHP sHP x L Shot.
From here you can do **sLP** sMP sb.HK x L Egret (Easy link)
You can also go straight into sMP sb.HK x L Egret. (2F link midscreen, 1F link in the corner most of the time)

It's objectively better to use sMP, but you make things harder for yourself sometimes, I still use sMP every time midscreen.

So look to chop off lights in your combos when you can..

Fukua example quiz:
cLK sMK sHP
jHK
Land

Then:

a) sHP jHK (Correct)
b) sLP sLP cMK sHP jHK (Bad)

It's unnecessary to start with sLP sLP cMK, you don't need to use those buttons because you have enough time to link into heavy from jHK, so you should do it.

Another thing to note is that while damage scaling gets worse with hits, meter scaling for the OPPONENT gets better over time with hits.
The more you hit them, the more meter they start to rack up.
If you reset the opponent constantly every 5 hits they hardly build anything.
Hitting the opponent with:
sLP sLP sLP cLK cLK sMP sMP sMK sHK sHK sHK x H Bypass xx EKG Flatliner

Compared to
cLK cMK[1] sHP x H Bypass xx EKG Flatliner

At max scaling is almost donating half a bar to the opponent, so you should only do the top option if you need that extra ~500 damage to kill them.

i wonder how much the campaign is going to make from slacker backing in the end.
like, it hasn't made a ton since it hit the last goal, but at the same time, $20k in a couple months is still a lot, and I noticed it still goes up a little bit every week.

while it's slow, i think at its current pace it could get pretty close to breaking $2M,
so if there's a burst towards the end, it might actually be enough to hit that next goal.
i don't want to get my hopes up though.
