Yeah. As of right now, it seems that physical defense works on a flat reduction. 100 physdef subtracts a flat 20 damage from taken physical attack.
So 1k physdef is a whopping fucking 200 reduction which sounds like a lot but the only way i could get that much and still be under 50% roll was on an SL200 vit gouge with heavy armor.

Meanwhile ~800 elemental resist makes you near immune to that element.
In dark souls 1, the difference between 300 and 400 physdef is incredibly noticable.

However, it seems that das3 will use bloodborne's defense values, so armor will scale with your base defenses or something.

STR boosts fire resistance. Also, I'm fairly sure two weapons with equal Base damage and scaling, but one in dex and one in strength, strength will do more damage. I think that's how it worked in 2? So str gets you way more damage, dex significantly less but has more utility like fall damage/cast speed. Still think str should either raise stamina a little or reduce general stamina consumption. For example, blocking with a 40 stability shield and 10 str may take half of your stamina bar, whereas the same shield and 40 str may only take a third. Swinging a weapon with 10 str takes a quarter of the bar, with 40 str (even with something like a katana) maybe it only takes a fifth.
