Alright, so I went full retard with ground forces and Grinded all the way up to both Tiger IIs in arcade. With the introduction of the British tree and a fresh grind from 1.0 BR, I'm thinking of using this as a transition into realistic battles.

I heard German tanks are the best for getting the hang of aiming in realistic but obviously jumping in to it at br 6.7 is definitely not an option, and due to the terrible accuracy of Russians, their tree isn't all that great for it either.

The only other option I have is Americans, though I've already stepped into the Shermans with that tree.

tl;dr which is better for getting the hang of aiming in realistic ground forces, British or American tree?

Oh no, that's not what I'm saying. From my experiences of bouncing 90% of my green marker shots off T-34s in my Tiger I playing arcade and HEAT shells doing everything but behaving in a realistic manner, the Russian bias is about as subtle as being hit by the front end of a train with a dildo glued to it. But their playstyle doesn't seem best suited for getting the nuances of RB from what I've read and experienced.

The Pz II H I keep in my lineup can reliably kill IS-3s and Pershings, that doesn't mean it should be 6.7.

The problem with german medium tanks is that while they CAN potentially kill anything they face they have no means of doing so unless you play ambush, and even then your turret turn rate, reload speed, and traverse speed means you better disable their gun with your first hit and pray that they're alone. You're basically just waiting for your opponents to fuck up and then relying on their situational awareness to not notice you, it has nothing to do with your own ability which is the most frustrating thing about them. And all that is assuming you manage to reach an ambush point before the enemy notices you, assuming the enemy even decides to go that way, and then assuming they don't spot you as they come by.

Unlike american or soviet mediums you don't have the mobility to make ambushing or flanking viable, you don't have the armour, penetration, or reload rate to make long range engagements viable, and you don't have the traverse speed nor any of the above to make close combat viable, and you don't even have the turret armour or depression to hull down. Your only viable playstyle in german tanks is to attempt abusing map meta to ambush players from unexpected locations, which even then is a cointoss whether it will actually net you a kill and you're expected to die anyways within 1-2.

German medium tanks fill no roles at their current BR other than target practice. They're outperformed in every aspect by any other nation's vehicles of comparable BR.

My Pz II H is my most effective medium tank. Despite its slow turret speed and low penetration it has the mobility to flank, set up ambushes, and is able to use cover and terrain, things no german medium can do.

combined with LMS, markers, nerfed sights, smaller maps and unrealistic damagemodels.

I think gaijin is real close to actually killing RBGF. SB has already gone the way of the dodo. Wont be long till RB follows suit.

I haven't played the Pz IV H since before american vehicles were introduced but I recall it was perfectly fine where it was, so I'm assuming it either gets absolutely shit on by shermans and cromwells or they hiked up its BR. With the 1.57 memebounce patch I can't imagine you're able to kill t-34s at range if you spot them first anymore either.

From my more recent experience with the panthers, it's questionable at best to call the panthers an even match for a pershing and completely insane to compare them to a centurion or caernarvon. T-34s would be a fair fight if the memebounce change is rolled back, especially with the recent buffs to the 85. Both tanks are able to oneshot each other at range but the T-34 has the mobility advantage in exchange for weaker hull armour. The same goes for 76 shermans, fireflies, and comets. I see no reason why the panther shouldn't fill the role of a heavier alternative to these mediums, all are able to reliably knock one another out from the front.

Gaijin sites "historical realism" as the justification for implementing the Panther's engine limiter, yet completely ignores the switch to disable the limiter for combat, the electric turret drive on later models, the Ausf F's 4-round autoloader, and places the Panther to fight post war vehicles instead of the historical combatants which already outperformed it.

The Panther line would be perfectly fine to drop by 1.0 BR, if Gaijin insists on keeping them so overtiered they could at least remove the engine limiter and give them their electric turret drives so they could remain competitive at 6.0-6.3 instead of completely outclassed. A small mobility buff, or rather the removal of a mobility nerf, would hardly be giving them a chance but at least it wouldn't be beating a dead horse.

Also I did some testing of this, if you hit the seam between the UFP and LFP with anything that has 100mm of pen or higher it'll go right through and hit the ammo rack almost every single time. This works better on some T-34 models than others, especially if they have that curved bit between the two plates.

That's only really a useful strategy when shooting from behind. From the flanks it's much quicker to just take out crew (gunner - engine/track - other side of turret - front hull) and from the front you can't generally hit fuel tanks with that low a penetration.
