They are not necessarily terrible, but you have to understand that they are just there for hacking down big guys and acting like shields.

The ideal setup is, Spell Totem - Skelies - Multistrike - Phys Damage / Minion Damage / Fortify / X

It's too tedious to summon them by yourself. Get one or two +2 Skeletons unique jewels and you hit like 16~ of them. They do a lot damage on bosses and others, but you can't rely on them as your main income of damage I guess.

Even a small % chance to evade is great paired with other defenses. IR isn't worth it because the amount of armor gained isn't enough to offset that extra avoidance unless you severely invest in it, which mean running at least Grace if not Grace+Determination and having high eva ir eva/ar gear in every slot. I'd remove Tabula as a first step towards survivability. Every build I played with it ended with that kind of difficulties. Having a 6-link is nice. Having a beefy 5-link is better.

I suppose some people will say you can dodge manually almost everything, but this requires playing skills I don't have.
