i remember when i used to get super pissed when i lost. i eventually got over it and can take double perfect losses like a champ. to start you gotta stop beating yourself up after you lose. save the replay of it and rewatch it trying to figure out why you lost and try to work on it. also it doesnt matter how good you get you will always lose some matches.

Originally I just felt like drawing Ragna with a Latias because it's pretty much the most obvious thing in the world. But I wanted to draw him with something else as well, and I wanted it to be a Dark type so it ended up being Mightyena.

Then I drew Noel and gave her a Latios because, again, obvious. And I gave her a Kirlia because Psychic/Fairy seems like a really good fit for her. Also Pancham because I wanted something that wasn't from Gen 3 in there and Noel has an addiction to pandas.

Now I'm drawing Ragna with more Pokemons but I'm having trouble picking them. Originally, I wanted to give him Yveltal because its shape and color is really reminiscent of Ragna's Devoured By Darkness hand, but it's surprisingly hard to draw and drawing him with so many Legendaries seems boring.

I also wanna pair him up with a fire mon, to go with the whole "fire and ice" rivalry thing he has with Jin, but I'm having trouble picking one. Funnily enough, I could have killed two birds with one stone had I gone with Houndoom rather than Mightyena, but, well. I like Mightyena better. I also think a Grass mon would be good, mainly because moves like Mega Drain and Leech Seed go really, really well with Soul Eater. Definitely no snakes or ghosts, though. Zangoose might be a good choice.

Nah, there is a reason why japs prefer to do ABC os. Throw break is 15 frames. It's unreactable. When you see someone closing distance to throw, however, you have a forewarning. But instead of throw they can do, say, 5A, then throw. If you would just press BC you would get hit by 5A, then get thrown with purple throw TRM. The reason it's worse is because if you would not ABC os it would be possible to do, say, 5C instead of 5A and convert it into full combo.

i've reacted to it plenty of times, i have to be able to when people do their block strings and other mixups before trying to do a throw in the middle of it all

it's not unreactable, it's just incredibly hard

it is true that the average person is about 20-25 frame reaction time to something, but that doesn't mean that he stays within that or even just within the quartiles of statistical measurement

thing is, i try to not "predict" a throw so i don't TRY to do a BC throw reject attempt at a time where they might 2a or 5a me instead, i just said i do sometimes get trigger happy and jump ahead and try to read the throw, it's a habit i'm trying to break and trying to rely on mere reactions instead so that i only press BC when i see the grab animation

The best reaction time you can hope for is around 10 frames. 4 frames is game's engine lag. Half frame is the best possible monitor lag. Another half frame for controller lag if you're using PS360+ controller.
So yeah, you can react to throw attempts. But it really is not recommended.

Not just block. For example when opponent jumps on you the time until you recognized that he jumped until you do antiair is reaction time too.
Also this reaction is your best reaction. In fighting games you rarely get a clear colorful indicator that you need to press button, it takes some time to process. And like anon above said, reaction is a rather small part of the game.

Doesn't every character have a distinct animation and some even make a mocking voiceline before an overhead hits? I'm sure it'll come in handy to have the reaction time of a housefly if you can react to all of them near instantly. Jin's 6A is unblockable on reaction alone. Even if you're good. And it is a lot harder than pressing button then colors change for everything short of distortions. Dusts in GG have red flash for a reason and they are usually 25 frames they are still viable for some characters.

It took me like half a year of Persona to go from not being able to do the most basic combo to be pretty ok.

I started with SF4 but only started getting gud with Persona, I had around 100 matches and 100 losses in SF4.

It takes a while to git gud, but when you do, you do...it's kinda like you go to a different dimension, you're no longer thinking about what buttons to press, or trying to remember combos, you're now thinking about the opponent, what is he gonna do, what is he thinking, I should do this to counter that etc, but this comes from a lot of experience, hell I'm -really- shitty at Blaz Blue even though I just started a couple weeks ago. In SFV you need to have a completely different mindset as in anime fighters. You are punished A LOT from pushing buttons when you are not supposed to.
