Zero has to know that you are there, overwatching everything from the perspective of the 3 MCs.

Hopefully they go full circle with the bootstrap idea and implement it similar to Dangaronpa's (only example that comes to mind) "fake" endings.

For instance, in DR1 you can call somebody out and get a complete, unique ending which abruptly ends the story and proceeds on a "what if" universe. But instead of getting a game over or "ending" you instantly snap back to when you made the original decision seamlessly.

Well, in the first SAW movie, two dudes had to cut off one of their feet to remove the shackles and escape a bathroom before the time ran out and killed them.
Sure, they had to do it with a handsaw instead of a swift chopping, but the thought was the same.

It gets quite unwieldy to manage information across multiple branches without getting conflicting information yourself. More so if you jump around constantly instead of backtracking to the last branch.

They're gorefests I can't stomach anymore, but they're still death games.
SAW 5 and 6 seem to be a little related to ZTD format about a group of people who must survive/kill each other and moral choices.

I think in the context of Zero Escape, more linear is less ambitious.
What is the main selling point of Uchikoshi's stories if it's not complex storylines across multiple routes/timelines/dimensions that all end up making sense in the end?
You can't just ask him to back down and give you something linear where the player has no choices to make and doesn't feel personally involved in the story.

For me, and fortunately this is only in retrospect, Phi's path in VLR was obnoxious.

It had 4 or 5 locks, so just when you thought you could proceed you halted again and had to jump elsewhere. Now in this new jump hopefully you remember everything that happened then ride it out hoping you get an unlock. After getting said unlock, jump back into the route and once again hope you remember everything that's going on.

This is the casual and probably intended way, and rewards(?) the player with multiple dead end scenes which can actually be missed if you never hit a lock. It does well to drive the narrative home, sure, but it's quite overwhelming and tedious.

I guess if he wanted to Zero could just hold the other participants hostage by saying that if someone removes the bracelet then everyone else still wearing one gets a lethal injection. That would make the participants hesitant of doing so and would make them want to stop others who are trying to.
