The other bonuses are good but don't effect game play as much as those 3 as all of they all help soften the blow when you fuck up, and you shouldn't be fucking up to begin with.

For anon playing Rance 01, remember to save from time to time. There are two slight different scenes for Yulang depending if you beat her in the coliseum using a trick or actually level up enough to beat her fair. You would want to go with the trick as that also unlock Nami's scene, but at least save and beat her fair once for all scenes (or just get a save later and see it, I guess). And don't worry about the time limit on Millie, it only starts after the scene you try to go into the weapon shop and she isn't there. Then you have 3 days to do something.

I'm not sure how heavily I should prioritize defensive chips, and I'm just stacking a lot of 1 turn CD chips along with a few 2-3 turn CDs.

Buy enough of the best shield available so I can always use one of it every turn. So if best available shield at the time has coll down 5, I would buy 6, and so on. For weapons I had some different set ups. On end game I had one sword that had 0 coll down (best one I had available) and then 8 of a strong sword that had cooldown 3, so I could use 2 every turn.

You need to take in account how many slots you have available now but I would say to prioritize having enough of the best shield to use one every turn and then use the remaining slots for weapons and utility items.

Yeah, I also used to be more aggressive at the start but noticed defense focus worked better. And to not shy away from the best shields just because the cooldown get higher (best shield of the game has a 7 turn cooldown for example, but using one every turn means almost nothing can damage you, and what can don't do too much, and the rest is cured at end of battle by that aliceman skill and later sill).
