If Destiny let you run every mission for loot and marks instead of those 4 and only 4 Strikes, killing replayability since you are literally playing four missions, it would have crushed this game. Easy.

What is the point of Dark Zone? Why would anyone go rogue when the incentive are nonexistent? It's more lucrative to work together with randoms and kill the same enemy over and over than killing eachother and losing exp and gear that you've farmed for hours. Holy shit why

this game needs a 3rd are, a DZ that is specifically for PvP and nothing else. the current DZ is insufficient for PvP usage, most people just want to be left alone and gear up, so the only PvP happening there is people who do it for giggles/to be a dick.

for longevity purposes, the game needs an area for squad based PvP with post-match rewards

No. The DZ needs to offer incentives to PvP, that is what makes it fun. The idea that any player you come across could shoot you in the back when the chance arises in order to claim that reward.
The fact that that mentality doesn't exist shows what a total blunder the DZ is. Players figured out on day 1 that it's more beneficial to work together or ignore each other rather than kill each other. The PvP aspect is utterly set up in such a way as to discourage killing other players.

A 'designated' area that players can 'freely' go pvp removes the trust-based thought process players should have when they are in the DZ. At that point you may as well just add fucking matchmaking similar to CoD.

How fast were you getting PC before the nerf?
I got lvl 30 today, farmed 300 points in a few hours. bout half way in yellows now. Some shit yellows, some okay.

yea, but incentivizing going rogue in the DZ causes the opposite problem then. since the weapons in the DZ far outclass anything in PvE mode, you are leaving normies/solo players with a means of gearing up, which will platueau their advancement.
simpler to create a PvP-exclusive zone with post-match rewards and a leaderboard than to rebalance the PvE mode

I have no more Side Missions. I've done them all and I've walked around the entire map.

What they need to do is scrap some aspects of the rogue system.

Instead of lighting up on the map for the whole duration, simply have a timed ping to show where somebody was killed by another player that fades over time. This can indicate where a rogue player is operating without making it nigh impossible for the rogue to do his job.

Remove the kill listings. No "Anon69 killed Bob1995", it makes it overly clear to everyone who to look out for, eliminating much of the tension and drives people from the instances because after one or two attacks they're flagged as hostile by anyone who can read.

I'm all for there being a higher risk / reward when it comes to losing XP and loot if you go rogue, but at least make it viable and interesting for people who do want to go rogue. We want the tension and the backstabbing and the misinformation.

Its supposed to be risky being in the DZ. Players having an incentive to pvp doesn't mean their isn't a risk. At the moment the risk far outweighs any gain so players don't do it.
I mean, if the point in your game is to keep shitters happy and ensure players get bored with no serious endgame content to test each other with then sure...but at that point just remove the pvp aspect altogether since its pointless.

You'd do just as well creating a matchmaking system and be done with it since the DZ is literally just a PvE farming zone at the moment. The system is broken and care-bears its way through keeping scrubs happy.

Same thing has happened with some of the other in game loot areas like wep parts etc.. It's not really enough of a bonus drop wise for me to try to make it happen or anything.

But the difference is that a normie, when they die as a Pker will see they just lost 1-3 hours worth of grinding and go "Never doing that again" and become discouraged from playing since they just lost an incredible amount of time.

The DZ replicates, better than any game, the notion of being in a lawless place, surrounded by strangers. Like in life, you're supposed to always be on guard, safer in a group and more likely to succeed through cooperation over conflict. But just like life, you can be an asshole, weigh up the risk and reward and choose to attack your fellow man for whatever reason.

Seems like a few people are missing the point and would prefer some fucking GTAV safe mode bullshit or dedicated TDM servers (which would boring as fuck).

Seems like removing barriers and offering players autonomy throws people off. Similar reasons meant that only a few saw just how brilliant Kane & Lynch's multiplayer was, back in the day.

The DZ needs to be much larger IMHO and Rogue status needs to be much longer like you can't go unrogue unless you die and you won't get pinged on map unless if you are hit by the pulse. Rogue extraction also needs to not ping the map or ping for shorter instances.

Anybody else have a hard time finding rogues? Haven't really seen anybody go rogue in a couple of hours.

Nearly every time im the only person in the zone who goes rogue. Soooooometimes I can antagonize a group of people to do it then I just suicide rush them till I kill them all and I almost always end up with more xp/money than was lost. People are too afraid to go rogue.

It needs a "crucible". That's a big reason people still play Destiny.
Add an arena, 6 v 6, normalized stats and all that jazz, and it'll all be good. Difficult to explain lore-wise but people will be happy. As it is, dark zone PvP just isn't worth doing.

the main thing DZ 30 rank gains you is access to more dark zone chest. So you want to get to DZ 30 but the grind after that DZ wise should be in the player level 30 zone for better loot.

it's like two different goals really. It's why I think people really should be popping in and out of the DZ as they play the game. Being the gear drops can really help a person or at least you enjoy them more when a lower level anyways.

Played the game during the "beta" and enjoyed it but held out buying because it seemed like it would have a big population drop/lack an end game. So now that its got time being released how is it?

Does it still run like ass on mid range computers? My 4670k and 650ti had a hard time keeping 60 fps with all the shit turned down and downscaled to 720p during the beta.

Are HP builds a thing or is it all about DPS? During the beta I enjoyed absorbing bullets and stunning enemy players while my friend did all the damage.

kinda annoyed at what just happened. i was trying to extract and some kid kept shooting me without going rogue so i just wiped him immediately.

he then tries to revenge kill me some 10 times and brings my rogue rank to 5. i survive this solo by running around inside the subway against him and one of his friends. got a measly 600 credits for it.

after this i go along my way and this fucking guy ends up making a full squad and starts trying to find me. i meet up with a group of guys and we start fighting some NPCs and these guys end up finding me and they start trying to get in front of my shots and eventually one of them eats a nade of mine on purpose and yeah I go rogue.

kinda fucking stupid.... i run away and for whatever reason my timer just stays at 2 seconds for like almost a minute and i eventually get fucked when i run out of health packs and get cornered.

One of the best moments is my group of four, after fending off two whole squads while manhunt moded, ran down to the sewers to let our timers run down. Most of the people seemed to have given up by then because we were fucking everyone up

These two guys come down, running past NPCs and wouldn't you know it a melee npc comes running up and clogs both of them.

Honestly the best build for DZ is just full retard on Tech/Stam. I can never be killed even when ganked by 4 Rogues. Usually just run towards the spawn and they give up pretty easily.

I'm the guy you quoted.

Every piece of gear can roll a number of stats, as well as number variations between those stats. Very diablo like. I think you might have either low rolls on the numbers, or bad stats. Stuff like Crit chance, Crit damage, Accuracy, Mag size, +damage to elites, etc all contribute to the DPS, and say you have an item with Crit Chance +5%, go to the decalibration station and check the numbers. Maybe that stat on that piece can roll between 4% crit and 11% crit, meaning you have a low roll?

Also items with high in all 3 stats are usually good too.

The game is very diablo like in its end game grinding to get perfect item rolls / stats. Example here is my character in some purples, and pretty shitty legendaries with bad rolls and I have similar DPS.

On the one hand I love the change to DZ witth the roaming groups of enemies converging on me from out of nowhere. Ive ran from two groups fighting into another group blocking off a street and had to hide behind cover and hope they pass by. Seriously some of the most tense moments from a non horror game
On the other hand it makes it nearly impossible to solo the DZ anymore which I love doing. Twice now two different groups attacked me while I was fighting to clear out an extraction point and the only reason I got my loot out was by using survivor link and just tanking the damage until my gear was up and then dying.
I really wish they would turn it down just a tad so its hard but not impossible to solo

Going Rogue offers fuck all compared to what you lose. The game cripples your ability to actually win if players decide to hunt for you.
