Kazuko Shibuya is the person who made these designs that got turned into the original sprites and the mobile sprites.

I'm right there with preferring the SNES sprites, but I think part (just part) of the problem with the "HD" sprites is how much definition and contrast they lack (they don't even have all the detail from the original designs). They end up looking like they're Super Eagle filtered with the blurry, blobby colors and thin outlines.

The problem is that it's not just bugs like that that break VI, it's major bullshit like Genji Glove or even the Gauntlet+Offering with or without weapons that ignore the Offering's downsides, Ultima and Quick, the various busted rage combos, and how fast magic scales in power.

Every balance hack I've ever seen for VI either balanced the game around the use of the absolute top tier abilities and nothing else, which is stupid because it makes only a small percentage of the game's content relevant, or removed a ton of content so they could try to balance the game.

I read that the JP events have Ultimate and Ultimate+ bosses with 1.5x to 2x more RES than DEF. In addition, only one new magic ability that is commonly used is released - some 5* darkness ability that hits twice - while the single hit -jas we are using now (that struggle to hit damage cap already without weakness bonuses) remain the main tool available to mages. It doesn't make sense to invest greatly in your mage party until we know they won't be totally eclipsed by physical Scream parties don't the line. My 2 pesos anyway.

What's weird about it to me is that they keep giving physical side of things the tools to stay relevant but magic is kind of getting shafted. The only things its got is the darkness abilities but as far as black and summoning they get nothing new for months
