with Blitz, mash summon swords, use JJC, or Blistering Swords to remove his armor. You could manage to hit a Distorted Just Charged lvl 2, 3 Punch with Beowulf as well but it's trickier to do. After removing the shield, use Sword Storm to hold it in place and land a Just charged lvl 2 or 3 uppercut, distorted preferrably. If you are out of DT, throw Round Trip to get DT and stunlocking him and use Beowulf.

Apparently this happens when the Prereq-er can't properly patch DirectX or VS.

Did you run ML while you were running some other program that would be "actively talking to" XInput? Like a background process like J2K or XPadder or something? If the DirectX updater tries to check against XInput1_3 or 1_4 or whatever and those files are in use, it might cause the DX installer to fail, which would shitbrick the dependency checker.

Goto Matabei has a single-move infinite. Infinites like this are actually surprisingly rare in Sumeragi. Infinite loops are pretty easy when you understand the various systems, but something like this is uncommon. Never managed to kill someone with it though cause my arm just seizes up after about 30 or so hits.

not much, Nier's combat is generally considered it's weakest link. I just noticed the wiki and answered my own question. Nier is not a crazy game.

The Nier sequel is being made by platinum and may belong here however.

There are other moves that aren't tracked, too.

Ieyasu's Evade Cancel charge release.
Sakon's Kicks Triangle launcher, first hit only.
Unblockable moves like Hideyoshi's R1 up close.
There are some still some others as well.

Overall, though, it's still pretty easy to just use 4 different moves to create one that way.

Yeah, Gotos dash infinite doesent really have any practical applications quite frankly. Youre better off doing an actual combo instead, cause it does piss poor damage and all you accomplish is ruining your arms.

Now, Sen no Rikyus first hit in his normal string however, thats a practical "infinite". Its not a true infinite vs generals, since they can eventually get out of it (although they will take huge damage from it), but weirdly enough it works on camp commanders and the most bullshit enemy in the game, tigers. Both camp commanders and tigers will get continually staggerlocked by it and they cant do anything about it. It will even cause them to stagger while theyre attacking. This also works on max difficulty. As far as I know, no other character can do this.

Here you go; I recorded a video of a video for you. As seen, the player performs a Flying Bird "flip" after using a strong(Hold). Hence the name, "Flip cancel", because the player flipped out of the strong attack via cancel. I do not understand the requirements to activate the cancel.

The skills used were: Dodge > Light (Tracking) Attack > Light Attack > Strong(Hold) Attack > Flying Bird Flip.

I haven't played RE in forever but if I'm not mistaken he simply cancelled a heavy launcher into wind run (light attack + jump)

Basically first he dodge cancels from a block, then does a light attack, then the heavy launcher but cancels that with a WR. This move has always had these odd little just frame moves in all games so I wouldn't be surprised if with the right timing you could cancel a single animation into a WR

The thing is he's not actually canceling the moves themselves but just the recovery animations. Basically the same way in which you can cancel a combo into an instant block when necessary

I can tell you I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be Wind Path because of the animation, it's unmistakeably the WR animation

Can't be due to block cancelling since tapping the block button only cancels the combo string along with any buffered moves, not the animation itself. Basically when you're performing a combo and you tap block what the game does is reset the combo string but it still plays out the last movement right until you tapped block.

Um, it does not work. As mentioned in my other post, now with the correct name, this advance trick does not work when using a Wind Run (Light + Jump) after the Strong (Hold) Attack. Nothing happens. Master Ryu stays in the Strong (Hold) Attack animation until the recovery is over.

Well I got the .dll file needed, and for some reason it required me to reinstall the UE stuff or whatever. I made sure nothing else was running, then I tried to load it up and got this.

The series of moves leading up to the cancel don't matter at all unless the "cancel" itself is part of the combo string. Example is this combo; the last portion cannot be performed unless you specifically do the heavy launcher beforehand. Similarly all combo strings work this way, so you only ever need to learn what are the inputs for any specific combo or technique such as guillotine throw, counter attack etc. I've explained everything about this in the NG2 guide if you want to learn how combos work in general

But aside of that all special moves such as cicada surge and heavenly justice are specified in the in-game move lists. If that particular string of cancelling Y(hold) into WR is a listed move then you should be able to find it. If not then there's no reason to complicate things, since all you need to do is find any enemy and then do heavy(hold) and try to cancel the recovery into a WR

Let's suppose, hypothetically, that I was adding a series of command-special attacks that any attack can cancel into, and which are usable with any weapon.

Let's also suppose, just for fun, that these attacks wouldn't actually deal damage or reward points or increase the combo multiplier. All they would do is knock one or more enemies back in some way.

What sort of properties would be the most useful for these attacks to have?

Put another way: when you're putting combos together in other games, what attacks do you routinely find yourself using for their utility above all else?

a low roundhouse kick (sweeps all grounded enemies around the player into the air and floats them there momentarily; as a launcher and a get-off-me)
a sliding grounded kick (as a gap closer)

When attempting to style in these games, the worst thing is an enemy with the ability to completely hault offensive momentum by just sponging every attack. I would say that a command attack which can reverse that is a superior alternative to forcing players to play RPS with weapons and attacks.

You're right.
Keep in mind though that any technique that an enemy is made vulnerable to by this move is somewhat devalued in terms of spectacle.
I mean, if you can just fire off a single easy to use attack that makes any foe open to some kind of juggle chain, then it's no longer rewarding to be able to juggle a tougher foe compared to a weaker foe, since you can start a juggle on either with the same amount of effort. I feel like that could also contribute to each enemy feeling a bit more similar too.

This is a good note.

I think what I'm going to do is have the headbutt JUST be a guard break. The aerial version of it (body check) will be the OP alternative, but it will also have a longer windup which makes it tougher to use (especially since against grounded enemies you need excellent timing to jump, do the attack, and hit them with it just before landing). That will hopefully make executing the move as a juggle starter on heavies a little bit more challenging, but will still give the player a faster way to deal with enemy guarding.

Bear in mind also that these moves are unlocked at Armor Power 6 and 7 respectively, so you'd have to already be playing very well to have enabled them (or be in the late-game, but even then the armor unlocks stop at Power 6, so for the Body Check even with all the unlocks you'd still need to play well enough to gain an Armor Power level in-round just to DO the move).

Adding a bit to the VJ suggestion, it's a great game. Its performance is somewhat lesser on PS2 but not by any means unbearable. In trade you get Dante as a playable as well.

Don't be a pussy, start on Adults. IIRC they added a mode either in between Kids and Adults or a mode even easier than Kids. Adults is the true normal mode of the game though. Don't wuss.

Also I thought SB didn't get good til SH which was the gen after PS2?

But i see this the other way, let me explain
So sets say Vergil now has styles 2-4 different styles. But instead of changing what his Style action does it changes moveset of selected weapon.
When he changes the style it changes his locked on stance(aka Yamato sheathed, hand on the grip, or Yamato raised overhead, legs wide spread, you get the idea). So one style would be good for CC, one for single target dps, one of defensive playstyle(like having guard(or parry) input or a move that includes backdash).
Also give him weapon like Ifrit, Gilgamesh or beo and implement the same system. Leave his Dark slayer moves the same and FOR GOD SAKE remove all his yamato thrusting/million slashes moves, they trigger me.

Devil Kings/Sengoku Basara is fun is short bursts. NOT CUHRAYZEE. Devil Kings has a bit more options but it's like saying Zelda's combat is advanced (ok maybe not on that level, but you get the idea). The maps are boring, there is not much content... It's very shallow.

SB2 is almost fun as SB3 is, to me, but you -feel- how much the combat improved. I mean, I love BASARA, so I like 2, but you got only got a button mashy string and two interchangeable specials per mission (from a pool of 6 specials to choose from), a BASARA attack, defense and roll defense, jump... That's it. It's spartan. It's not cuhrayzee at all. Yeah if you press buttons a bit differently some moves change properties, but forget the cuhrayzee comboing.

If you still like other aspects of BASARA (like getting a shitload of HITS and the varied bizarre missions, the characters, the silliness, the huge amount of content to unlock) they're there, just remember 3 and above is leagues above in the combat department and are actual cuhrayzee.

Just got DMC4:SE and started playing it through normal. I have beaten it couple of times before but never really got good at it (or any of the DMC games for that matter) and I think I saw some anons saying you might want to change the default controls to something else. The easiest change is swapping Devil Trigger and shoot, as this allows you to hold down a trigger button for Charge Shots without really affecting the rest of your inputs. The first SB game was kind of bad, it feels like it mostly got popular because of the characters.

Everyone had a square string that was..a square string. They also had two moves to chose from of like 4-5max for every battle that you switched between. It also has moves that required some BASARA meter to use, and while it had some dumb fun to be had, I'm personally surprised it ended up getting a sequel.

Devil Kings, while it gets flack for its localization changing every character and the story, while also removing like three characters from playable status, it also gave everyone a third move to use at any one time, many getting brand new animations. It also made some weaker characters stronger in some places, and is actually fairly fun...even though they made it harder for no real reason.

SB2 kept mostly the same gameplay, but had MUCH better stages. It also had more fluid aspects of gameplay that largely cover quality of life improvements, like how evading worked, but you can typically feel a bit of difference between the games. Characters also have 7 total moves globally, outside of Musashi, and everyone was mostly different at this point.

SB2H was just an expansion that added priming as a mechanic from Devil Kings, brought the roster up to 30, and had couple other new things. Kotaro had like actual aerial combat with his moves and Kojuro had a Hold Square move that gave him more moves at one time that most other characters, and this was nice. It's just a game packed with a lot of content.

SB3 updated the series with PS3/Wii tier character models and graphics, and updated the combat system to. Everyone had 5 special moves at one time, with a few of them having hidden 6th ones on Hold Square. The game allowed for real combos and even had aerial moves, but it still had the system from previous games where you needed a certain attack stat for moves to stagger enemies. On higher difficulties, you will drop combos because you wanted to use, say, Mitsunari or Kotaro's R1, as the bulk and sometimes the entire move would refuse to stagger or cause any hitstun. Bosses would also jump out of combos at random. It also had 16 characters, down from 30 of the previous game, which isn't bad for an updated gameplay engine with Dash/Evade/Jump cancels.

Utage brought it up to 30, introduced a form of tagging found in SB2H, but better, reduced some of the need for attack thresholds (though not removing it), gave everyone a Hold Square attack while also making it a real move instead of being hidden, added more aerial combo options, and just made the game better.

SB4 removed ALL forms of attack threshold from the classic games and made it so bosses would be comboed consistently as long as you learned how they worked. You also have access to all R2 moves at one times, bringing the total move count up to 8 base moves at all times. Tag was also vastly updated on the grand scheme of things, allowing you to cancel pretty much any move, and most of them continued to happen after doing so.

Sumeragi updated the combat again with more balance tweaks, everyone getting a new aerial move, and everyone getting a new move in general on L1 + Square, bringing it up to 9 base moves at all times. Tag was available from the start and it had a cast of 40 characters.

Heh, yeah its kinda hard to believe isnt it? Its just that Azais lvl 3 powerup gives him so much damage its ridiculous, even without any damage upgrades on his weapon he can destroy anything incredibly fast by just mashing out his regular string. Ashikagas time stop is...Well its a perfect time stop with no drawbacks that you can repeat as much as you want. Its pretty much a cheat frankly.

And yeah, its true that all characters can perform pretty well in regular play, but not everyone is suited for clearing stages without taking any damage which is probably the most difficult thing the game has to offer.

It looks like (LOOKS like) you play as a turtle and the other 3 are comp-controlled, but you can hot-switch between which one you control at any given time (the Achievements list includes things like using all 4 turtles in one combo) and the Ult attacks use all 4 together.

What makes me skeptical is that I imagine it will be another Bayo-framework shove-out.

Transformers was interesting mostly because the aiming and vehicle mechanics were so different from what you COULD do in Bayo that there was some opportunity for a fresh experience; pared down to pure melee, it was just Worse Bayonetta.

So Ninja Turtles, if it doesn't do something somewhat unique at a core gameplay level (and I don't know that it does) risks being the same thing: Worse Bayonetta (only multiplayer challenge mode).

And who wants to play Worse Bayonetta when Bayonetta is right there? PC gamers, I guess, but we have T:D.

The sad part is that marvel 3 actually has an interesting neutral game. It's just that once you get that one good hit, the match is pretty much over because the first chat is dead and then their next just falls into some dumb incoming mix-up that is just stupid hard to deal with.
If they toned the damage or hitstun down, or the damage proration up, the game would play more like marvel 2, where you usually need 2-3 mixups to kill a character unless you were like cable or sentinel with 5 bars.

In a related note, I kinda consider games like Viewtiful Joe and ninja gaiden to be the street fighters of this subgenre. You pretty much just have to what buttons to press/mechanics to abuse at the right time. As a result, the gameplay is slower and more methodical and more based around what the developer wants. Meanwhile, devil may cry it's closer to an anime airdasher where you can sort of get by with solid fundamentals(abuse of high damaging attacks, dodging when appropriate, etc....) but you really have to put the time in if you want to gitgud.

I mean, you have to practice to gitgud regardless but dmc has more stringent execution requirements.

Expanding on shinobi/kunoichi, you will never see an interesting video in vst about these games. In fact, the last time I believe they were entered into vst, it was an absolute borefest because of the lack of moves BUT the games have interesting mechanics in the Tate system. Especially in shinobi where you slowly lose health if you aren't killing. They're more speedrunning games than anything but you should pick it up because it's still sort of interesting.

They were removed because they weren't deep enough but I think it's still sort of interesting. At least from a devfag perspective.

He's comparable enough to Dante in personality and armaments for it to be right in their wheelhouse, the movie has made the IP valuable for tie-ins again, and Activision owns the rights to it (currently they've got it sitting with High Moon, but then Transformers was sitting with High Moon too).

I understand. I found on-foot sections too dull and they left a bad taste on my mouth outside of multiplayer.
What I like so far about the new game is that different vehicles are present and some can transform on the fly.
Sadly the blumarine seems to be missing.

Well, there is some time i don't post here about progress, but let's go.

Finished Story Mode on Ultimate ninja.
It actually became easier with the time, for what i could understand, in Ultimate Ninja the enemy A.I. gets more annoying, enemies get more health, change in enemy placement again, and every upgrade is incredibly expensive. But for some reason, after the half point of the game (about day V), it felt easier.

Did it mostly with the Single Katana (DS, Jinran-maru, Blade of Archfiend), but tried to play with the dual katanas as well. While i'm improving with those, i'm better with the single katana moveset, for sure, but i'm pretty confortable with the moveset now, and what strings to use, and i am using stuff like guillotine throw and flying swallow a lot more.

The aim-mode slow time made a lot of sections in the game really easy, and i also learned some stuff about the usage of the bow in combat, it is incredibly easy to juggle after a bow shot if you follow up with Light Heavy with the dual katana, but the bow explosion will only launch if it hits a grounded enemy.

Now that i have pretty much everything unlocked, i will focus on getting everyone's upgrades in all difficulties, learning enemy patterns, and probably going to focus on one character more than the others, and it is possibly Ayane.

About Ayane, i think i understand the explosion of her kunai now, it is really trick to capture after it because it seems that the enemy will always explode away from ayane, and the arc is pretty small compared to the bow.

I'm also trying to figure out the timing to do counter attacks, and also how it works the whole thing of a move coming out under a certain state.

Last thing, probably the most important, is that i should focus on not being mashy, it is a problem that i have with all the games that i play, is that a lot of times i'll not think or measure what i'm doing, and will just press buttons.

Welp. I'm actually kinda hype. If it feels as good as driving felt in T:D this will be another of my favorite games from Platinum.

The only thing I want to see: you can clearly program the AI to take on certain roles ("Go All Out" being in use for this demo) but it'd be nice to see either "don't attack at all" or better yet, an option to completely remove the AI turtles and just swap between them with only one on the field at a time. It'd probably piss me off a lot to have the AI characters chewing into my fun by killing enemies I'm trying to fight (I certainly didn't much care for it in T:D)

If anything, it'll do me like T:D did; I'll play it, love it, and steal 12% of its mechanics for Mayhem League.

Mayhem League wouldn't exist without me basically using all of Platinum's ideas. I could never be mad at them for using mine.

Besides, the most unique thing about my game is the one thing Platinum will never do: remove the health bar entirely and make the score/style system the entire point, rather than an add-on to reward players who play for more than clearing levels.

The closest thing any other dev team has come to beating me on that has been, ironically, Ninja Theory, with Must Style mode in DmC, and even that's not really the same thing (though at least in its own way it elevates style above "optional mechanic" status into a necessary element of progression)

Shotgun is good at removing the Ice Armor. Hit one of his paws enough and he will get stunned, giving you some free hits. Trickster or Royalguard is great at this boss. Unlock Rebelion's Air Hike. Get Stinger.

Are you having trouble with the boss? Look for his weakspots: shoot the ice off. If you attack his legs then he falls down and you can attack his heads.

My advice is that if you have the option of either dodging or attacking then dodge because you can wear them down eventually in less risky ways but you have limited health and healing items.

here is my first super shitty vst that you can probably easily top. if not you'll be able in a few weeks i think. we all started with something as anon said.

My advice would be to find what you like doing and pratcice it. I for example just love doing combos and so most of the time in the game i spend with invincible dummy that i try to combo in some way.
Maybe your thing would be bossbatles or maybe clearing rooms or bloody palace or something else.
Same goes for weapons, choose what feels just right for you.
If you'll be practicing things you love and enjoy doing then practice won't feel tedious and you won't have to force yourself to play.

Bayo, Joe, I haven't touched dmc or ninja gaiden in forever but I'll probably buy them once I'm more financially stable. Vanquish, anarchy reigns(not cgg-approved anymore but fuck you. The game was brilliant in my eyes).

I pretty much have absolutely nothing right now aside from my cell phone and clothes. My computer decided to shit the bed and I need to purchase the consoles that these games are on because I pretty much just played them on an ex-roommate's console.

That was my biggest problem with it, no styles except quicksilver and doppelganger, and a lot of moments were ripped directly from cuscenes in DMC4; him in the maw of whatever hairmonster just like the scene with echidna and blocking the giant's punch like the savior's fist. I think even the gun kata in the beginning had some bits from when he and Nero fought.

And it is not because it is low poly or because designs are bad but because color selection(in my opinion of course) is complete and utter bullshit. I played your demo, I am not judging only by this webm.

Compare this pic and your webm. Same location, with same purpouse but if I look at your room, I can't quite concentrate my attention on characters because background is so bright compared to them, that my focus constantly shifts. It takes effort to always keep it on characters. sfV room? whole differnt story. (I'm not saying go make your training room white. You can make it whatever you want if you are using colors right)

I respect what you do and all, and I understand that you can't afford hiring an you yourself can't draw at all(if I remember correctly you said it yourself).
My suggestion would be to consult with artists. Go to art boards and ask for advice there or find someone qualified irl and ask them. Or just go and try to study color yourself.

Not a training world, it's an overworld (and meant to look like a digital landscape) but I've actually thought for a little while that the color needs a retune, especially because in slomo modes the bloom off the wireframe lights is fucking blinding.

I'll always be the first to admit I suck at color theory. It's mostly trial and error... And right now I just haven't spent much time on the "trial" part because I've been focused on other stuff, so The Mezzanine sits there looking garish and awful.

Actually the SFV room is a good refence just because that "professional" cream hue is a nice shade. It feels very "overworldy", in that it sort of harkens to an office building. Plus it's easier on the eyes.

I think the only original songs are the first one, "IT'S SHOWTIME" and "Scent Of Love". Unlike the game OST, the lyrics for #1 and #4 are in moonsong. Scent of Love and Red & Black get English lyrics but at least to my ears they are hard to discern what is being sung. Afterburner arrangement has some kind of female voice but doing beats or something but not actual lyrics. I think the last one is the most interesting but it's more BGM so it's kinda repetitive like Afterburner.

A remake of the first devil may cry with dmc4 vergil level of gameplay. You seen what they did with vergil now just imagine if they were to recreate dante he could be even crazier than vergil in terms of gameplay.

The nelo angelo fights could have different cutscenes that make it more emotional or a different outcome of the fights happen.

The castle could be absolutely huge with cuhrayzee cutscenes and the underworld could be expanded upon.

So, you're the one looking for Flashyness instead of substance.

NG3RE has a a lot of substance in its combat. Heck, even its main bad point, that is the Steel On Bone System, has a lot to it more than simply waiting for the grab moment and go to an instant kill. But i don't count this as a good side, you know, since it is a poorly implemented mechanic.

You have a lot of stuff to work with, things from previous games (some nerfed as far as i know, like counter attacks and Guillotine throw), and things that are new (like Cicada Surge).

But it is okay, you can just sit there and think that the game has no substance based on few vst entries.

Yes, but you can just play the music you want on YT anyway, it's not a big deal.

Also, you're far better off using the style switcher mod instead of that one, it includes the BMG engine disabling as well as a bunch of other fixes, and of course the ability to switch styles like in DMC4. A feature that you can disable if you wish to play it vanilla with just the fixes.

I didn't know this skill turns me around. That's a really nice function that I'm glad they went with. Before this, I was wondering why I couldn't turn around and was trying to manually turn, ha. Because of the enemies aggressive nature I think it should be easy to do things like shoulders > wall > aerial strong > counter or BoS or fireball or Strong(Lite Hold or Tap).

I really like Momiji's Strong(Hold). How it knockdowns the enemy, has really good frontal range, and it faster than using 360 strong in a lot of situations.

For the longest of time, I was upset about being unable to cancel this move, but luckily Momiji's fireball has higher priority over it. Yay!

To me, this is by far one of the most important moves in her arsenal. For now, using Nimpo has been discarded from the style of gameplay I'm trying to develop for myself.

So yeah, I'm just going through my moves and trying to learn what I can and can't do while also trying to create ideal situations for their use.

Counters do not work on arrows. Why, Tecmo, why? That would have been really cool. At least I was able to learn the arrows are shot every 5-6 secs (untouched).

The worst animation was actually done with Monty around, he didn't seem to care much about quality outside of fight scenes.

In V3 the fight scenes got worse (at least for the first half) but there was more parity with the series as a whole.

Also, I did peak at the fight. I completely forgot about how Dante and Virgil were just slicing raindrops at the beginning of DMC3 with their swings. That shit was rad as fuck. As for TMNT, it's confirmed to be the standard Bayonetta-engine Light/Heavy/Pause combo system, you can equip any moves to your special wheel... And "big empty world" seems like a steep condemnation of a space large enough to mess with the movement mechanics in. Frankly fights don't seem any fewer or farther between than any othe action game.


I don't doubt it will have it's shortcomings (all their licensed games do) but come on now. You're just inventing reasons to be disappointed in it

At least as long as you remember that you can, like, turn into a car and drive really fast. The level layout was wider and emptier because instead of Bayo walking through a fountain-courtyard you're driving 200MPH down a purple plastic highway. It still rarely took longer than about 15 seconds between fights... Unless you were literally just walking everywhere all game.

It was too short, I was disappointed that all of the air combos were just the ground combos, and at times the weapon synthesis was a little bit RNG-heavy/grindy for my tastes.

On the other hand the whole spark attack thing was an idea I think worthy of being added to that whole "Standard PG Mechanics" list along with Witch Time. It feels like the sort of thing that should have always been there.

he can literally become invincible when his God Hand is out. He can dodge almost all attacks. His power is divine so Dante's majin form wouldn't have much affect on him. Bayo doesn't have huge feats of durability besides entering the atmosphere of earth at full speed and surviving, for sure.

But there was only a couple of times where bayonetta was hurt at all.

Her feats of raw strenght, skill and speed surpasses the dante ones, and by a large margin. And even being able to survive, Dante still gets seriously injured from time to time.

Now, i can't really tell because i didn't watch death battle, and there is really few stuff that i don't know that might account.

And even more, witch magic is made do deal with angels and demons as well, so, surviving to a human bullet is a thing, surviving a magic bullet is another.

About attack speed, well, there isn't any official documentation on how fast bayonetta. But witch time is actually a hyper sensive state, she is not slowing time, but making herself faster... But there is quicksilver for dante, that would at best negate the effects of witch time, and at worst, would be crushed by witch time.

There is also the fact that bayonetta remained for 2 games almost untouchable, while fighting beings powerful enough to destroy the world.

DMC 3 dante in the vergil fights and also against Arkham was at his best, at the time, he got much stronger than that.

If the Rodin Fights are canon (which they seem to be, since you know, bayo 2 rodin mentions the first game battle). Than Bayonetta would probably have to work harder than against all of her foes, and Rodin seems to be a foe more powerfun than anything Dante or Bayonetta ever faced, honestly.

I would say that bayonetta in general works on a bigger scale than devil may cry, so it is hard to grasp.

~130 into dmc3 and I am just starting to use it. The way I see it, just get comfortable with trickster or swordmaster. When you are comfortable with one of them learn the second one. Learn how to combine them, how and when to switch between them. Then you just add the rest of the styles one by one. At least thats how I see it.

Yeah. I'm still relatively new to cuhrayzee and even newer to Dante, so I'm just sticking with Trickster and Swordmaster for the most part. Occasionally I'll try Royal Guard but I can never get the timing right.

No I do understand how someone could prefer Basara because it is much faster, has more varied characters and cuhrayzeer moves. I just personally don't find it tight or deep enough to be fun like a DMC game, and it doesn't have the items, skills, or weapon systems that make musou addicting, so I personally find it to be an awkward in-between that doesn't merge two things I really like particularly well.

I only played Samurai Heroes and there was just something about the progression that was underwhelming. I think it might be that you don't have to do anything special to get all the character items and weapons, just beat their routes a few times on hard. Which kind of ties into my larger issue with the game being that each of the stages has exactly one gimmick and plays identically in SB, whereas musous always have secret bonus objectives or totally different progressions if you play from opposing sides. Also SW4 is kind of an obvious one to pick on because it's so basic and shitty, even HW has deeper weapon customization than that :v.

Thanks, I checked earlier, but generally the highest resolutions are only around 700x 1000 or so, while the highest I can actually find are about 2000x 3000.

Off the top of my head:

R1 can cause homing cancel.
SB4S gave him an actual air string now.
Dir+Tri has follow ups, the second hit launching enemies.
He can actually cancel between a lot of his moves pretty easily.
His skill revision is really fucking good and can be jump canceled before the overhead slash to act as a launcher.
His SS1 can be reactivated with MUCH less start up and acts as another move to use too.
His whole square string is actually pretty good and IIRC will combo entirely on everything. It has an ender that changes if you held the analog stick in a direction or at neutral.

Oh, and if you hold Square until his face turns red, the next hit is a forced critical hit, though it's just a damage boost. Works for specials too.

The wiki says stuff about all his moves I think.
