Are there any numbers out there higher than a 16 DPS gain (from 3.1) and 25 DPS gain (in current gear) that you get out of doing it? Seems a little bit lacking in the "Input cost vs output reward" department

My concern arises because it's been known that GB scales better with gear than no GB, and yet as gear is improving the gain from stance dancing also improves. Then again, I suppose we would have to consider the gain from GB as a PERCENTAGE of overall DPS to say whether or not its scaling well. Essentially, I'm just concerned that as gear improves stance dancing will become less and less worth it and eventually a loss

Crits are super important for your pet's proc, though I don't know if your crit rating affects its crit rating (I'd assume it would), and your DOTs do scale with spell speed, but the more important thing about SS would be getting enough to reliably work in another cast in Dreadwyrm before you have to use Deathflare. Once you reach that threshold it's less important.

Meanwhile BLM is all about maintaining Enochian and cramming as many Fire IV casts in to each Astral Fire stack as possible.

Yes, well, I've been a SMN in this game for a long time, but was a warlock in WoW for far longer. I know all about how badly they handled Haste. I recall during the end of WotLK haste was so valuable it was ridiculous.

It balanced out eventually. During Cataclysm raiding the various DPS specs all had a nice mix of what their most valuable stat was, even within the same class. For example, I recall that for warlocks, Affliction's most valuable secondary was Haste, Demonology was Mastery, and Destruction was Crit (?)

I wish this game's secondaries had variety like that. It helps make gearing up the different jobs feel more flavorful, at the very least. Instead it's just Crit>Det>SS all over.

It isn't terrible. It's guided nicely by the main scenario questline, with an awkward gap for the last 2-3 levels, but as long as you follow main scenario and do the optional dungeons along the way your first trip to level 50 and then to level 60 will be quite smooth.

Leveling OTHER classes, which you will have to do, is horribly grindy by comparison.

The leveling experience is unlikely to change. You HAVE to follow the Main Story Quest to get to the expansion's content, which takes you to max level on at least 1 class, you then supplement the MSQ experience with things like FATEs, levequests, and dungeon queues. If they were to ever introduce +EXP items (beyond the paltry few that only help to 10-20-30), it would completely break the game.
Course thats not to say they won't try, this is squeenix we're talking here. But they haven't yet.

Oh trust me, I know all about how horrible WoW is.

This game has one character that can play every class/job, you just have to level them all from 1. It's not like WoW where you get a new character for every class. So you basically only get to do quests once, which means every OTHER class you level is just a bunch of grinding.

They don't nerf the XP requirements with each patch/expansion, BUT, as long as you are playing a class lower than your highest-level class, you will have a sizable experience bonus.

But in seriousness, tri-disaster should almost ALWAYS be done in Trance, if you can help it. On trash pulls, it's usually not worth waiting if you don't already have Trance available/active, but against bosses Tri-disaster is just way too good during Trance. As soon as any of your three DoTs wears off in Trance, you should use tri-disaster. If none of them will wear off during the Trance, just use Tri-Disaster as your Trance comes to an end.

If you are using Garuda, Contagion should always follow Tri-Disaster. Also, remember that Miasma II is no longer worth using during Trance, even with Contagion - it's a total of 120 potency, compared to Ruin III's 200 potency. Even on 2 targets, with Contagion, Miasma II is only 90 potency

Well, you don't have shit to worry about until level 56, really.

For now, HT up at all times. Disembowel is very valuable, especially if you have a BRD or MCH in your group (it buffs their damage as well as yours), so maintain uptime on it. It becomes a LOT easier once you get the trait that extends its duration to 30s.

Once you hit level 50 you will get Chaos Thrust to complete the Impulse-Disembowel-CT combo. CT is your single strongest attack, and it follows Disembowel, so obviously you want very high uptime on this as well.

Phlebotomize is very strong, but you should only use it if your target will be alive for most of its duration. Use it after finishing an Impulse Drive combo.

At level 50 your rotation is pretty simple. It's known as the "rotation of shame" because level 60 DRGs have to use it if they let Dragon's Blood fall off (ie, if they are bad)
Heavy Thrust -> Chaos Thrust combo -> Phlebotomize -> Full Thrust Combo x2, then repeat

At level 56 you gain Wheeling Thrust, and at 58 you get Fang & Claw, which are basically the same ability. Those 2 will come after Chaos Thrust or Full Thrust, and extend your Dragon's Blood buff timer. The level 60 rotation is all about managing dragon's blood... read a guide about it. I may be pretty autistic but I couldn't possibly cover all the complexities in just one post.

Certain cooldowns are better in certain situations. Most notably Convalescence, which is essentially a panic button, since it doesn't actually have any defensive benefits to offer.

You also want to avoid blowing more CDs than is necessary, just so that they'll be available a bit later on. If I'm pulling a stack of 6 mobs, Vengeance + Bloodbath is probably good enough. I don't need to throw Foresight and Thrill of Battle up at the same time. I could, however, use Foresight once Vengeance wears off!

Managing CDs becomes especially important in raids, since most bosses have some kind of tank buster attack, which often require at least one cooldown to be manageable.

Nah, you can't use the old ARR guide anymore. I assume you are referring to A Rotation Reborn. Problem is, Phl and HT have different durations than they did in ARR, so the timings are completely screwed up. I remember when I first hit 50 on DRG during Heavensward, I was clipping things left and right because I was following the Rotation Reborn guide.
