Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny FAQ

Old Thread: >>133805150
Your waifu acute
OP says this includes Ys, LoH and EDF too, but are they actually discussed here at all?
I thought the girl in the OP pic was his mom.
>>134418462
They get mentioned every now and then, but I haven't seen a whole lot of discussion for them. Probably because they aren't similar to the usual fare this general traded in before the name change, and thus most of the people here might not have played them.
>>134418462
Occasionally, though given the origins of this general it's still rather skewed towards certain subjects and people're limited by console and taste - don't have a PS4 or Vita so I can't comment on the recent EDF and Ys games that aren't on PC. It does seem like threads are a bit more active, though, since we went through the last one in under 68 hours when it tends to take us a full week on average, so something seems to be working.
Anyway, for content: I don't know hot the fuck Falcom JDK wound up making a porn sax arrange of an Ys Origin piece, but by fucking god they did it and it fucking works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKx7lVrnElc&index=6&list=PLCBB2D3CDBF2E0AAE
Best fucking house band ever.
>>134419252
They really are. Hearing their stuff have gotten me interested to try playing music myself, most interesting instruments being saxofone and violin. I'm really bummed that I got to work on my thesis now, so I really shouldn't take on something that time-consuming.
>>134417948She sure is.
Updated version of the one I posted at the end of the last thread, I liked how it was looking so I worked on it a bit more.
Trails of Cold Steel questions:
Is it possible to end up with different heroines? If so, is it like Rune Factory or Persona where you have to constantly talk and spend time with them and ignore the other heroines, or is it an end-game decision like "Okay, who makes my dick the hardest?" Does it carry over to Cold Steel II or does it ignore your choice?
>>134422991
/r/ing Elise in cow jammies.
Or, Licorice in sunflower jammies.
>>134423827
You can pick a dance partner near the end and as far as I know, who you can pick is determined by Link exp and MAYBE some choices near the end.
So it's a mix of both choices I think.
I'm not sure, but you might get some unique dialogue in CS II depending on who you danced with.
There are some good walkthroughs that explain this better than me, I really like the one in Gamefaqs.
>never ever ever ever

>>134417434
I'm a little bit proud that the thread image is a image i posted. Is this thanks to bumping?
>>134436352
Alas, I'm afraid it's just happy happenstance. I've had that one rattling around the folders for years, and though I looked briefly through the thread it happened to be the most calling picture, as I was shooting for something HM-y since the last thread was PPlC themed and the one before that Ys and the one before the MGQ edition was either RF or SOS.
Really reminds me I need to get more actual Harvest Moon stuff, though.
>level 75 or something
>50 levels above recommended
>still suck shit because I didn't know gear was a big deal until now
Also Raven doesn't sell small wool anymore, how am I supposed to grind my Crafting level outside of actually working?
Oh, and Heal is a godsend. Is the HP recovered percentage and the RP set, or is it a set for both?

Ah too bad. But nevertheless i'm happy. But i agree with you, i'll try to post more Harvest Moon stuff, too.

Are pets good?
They are good and all, but right now my best pet heals fire units in the delirium lava cave because it too shoots fire. Could I mount it and absorb the fire damage?
I can't bring my waifu or any other people I sometimes bring with me because they are in an event, and I can't do the event because Doug is being a shithead depressed asshat and won't move for shit.

The end of each arc is marked by credits.Except for the end of the 3rd arc.
>>>134446067
Are pets good?
If by pets you mean recruited monsters, they run the gamut from trash to OP juggernauts. Boss monsters are very stronk.
>>134446067
>Are pets good?
It kinda' depends on just what you nab and how much you buff it with daily gifts and food. Some of the bosses you can tame can just ruin shit like you wouldn't believe, rank and file critters not so much though they can be a nice distraction. Octopirate in particular just MURDERIZES critters if you're riding it and use its spray attack, though it's also a late-game monster.
>They are good and all, but right now my best pet heals fire units in the delirium lava cave because it too shoots fire. Could I mount it and absorb the fire damage?
IIRC monsters can divert a chunk of the damage but you still get hit with a bit of it, and any AoE stuff or status ailments will nail you as normal. And if nothing else you need a crapload of them (50, technically) for one of the last requests so it doesn't hurt to try and grab some from each area as you go on.
>>134445195
Center girl best girl.
Is her name Maria or Mary?
>>134438452
>Also Raven doesn't sell small wool anymore, how am I supposed to grind my Crafting level outside of actually working?
Upgrade your crap. It's infinitely more effective than actually crafting stuff. Food (which includes crops) are better than mats and grass as far as upgrading goes. Seeds might count in that category. Then sell the upgraded thing in your shop for dosh and happy merchant xp.
Also, I think the things Raven sells changes every day. Same thing with Arthur.
>>134446067
>Are pets good?
They can be really great. Go get Ambrosia, she will reck, and you can ride her. Remember that if you feed pets mats, they get a permanent boost that is the same as if you were upgrading gear (though you can only do it once a day). You can eventually get a pet that is immune to all status effects and absorbs all elemental damage. Also, they gain levels even in the barn, so that's nice.
>>134452203
Do the upgraded stuff get more expensive even when you don't actually improve them?
Nice, I'll get to upgrading the bazillion rank 1 swords and other shit I have.
>>134450163
It's Mary. Maria was the church girl from the snes HM.
>>134452467
Yah, the base price automatically rises per level. I think lvl 10 items are 2x the base price of the lvl 1 item. Also, if you sell stuff in the shop (as opposed to shipping it) the bottom sell price increases by the price of the items used to upgrade it. (I say bottom sell price because there is a multiplier (RNG I think, like everything else in the game) based on your happy merchant level, and you also get abilities as you level it up that can increase the money you get). You can eventually get bs like pic related.
>>134452467
Yep, value is basically a sliding scale between 100% and 200% or so of the original value: you can have a 1000+ ATK broadsword that's worth a few hundred bucks and a Grand Smasher ruined with shitty mats that sells for a hundred times its superior.
>>134453441
>>134453570
I think you can get a little more :v)
I'll try it out, thanks.I'll be sure to get some nice ring for Forte with that money

BADO NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING
At least he can sell the secret to flight. Should I reset or something?
>>134453752
No, guys, I'm pretty spooked. Bado's outside the map, and so was Nancy, but she was close enough I could call her as my companion then dismiss her.
Bado's out in the... Oh, he's back on ground now for some reason.
Man, this game is pretty buggy. The other day Lin Fa or Xiao spoke in Jap, and I've heard SRing can fuck up your saves.
>>134455646
I thought it was only Meg who accidentally spoke in Japanese (she says "Forte").
As for soft resetting, yeah, even xseeddude said it was bad for the game. Quitting and reloading best.

>>134460119
I'll never rest.

>cute girls in big dresses, with nice little details on the outfit.
and I though I was the only degenerated that liked that sort of stuff.
>>134460658
>>134462649
Sadly Dolce produces all the exact oposite to me. and I don't know why.
>>134455646
Never had a problem with soft resetting in RF4 myself and I've done it pretty frequently, but this happened to me in RF3. Shara just showed up untextured until I slept in game.
>>134470018
You can soft reset a DS game?
>>134470018
I had a similar happenstance in 4 where the world turned into static, numbers and dolce was entirely valve missing texture purple for a bit.
It fixed itself promptly, but the little bit it was like that was freaky.
>>134473997
Yes.
I'm not telling you how to do it though.
>>134317123
I'm surprised no one's made an Amber "Vomit-chan" edit with her barfing up honey...
>>134475290
That's OK. Google can anyway.
>>134473997
Since RF3 didn't really have the RNG dependency that RF4 has or the extortionate rates Jones charges, I never even tried soft resetting in 3.
That glitch just happened when I loaded up the game normally once, so not sure if there's an easy way to soft reset in that game.
>>134475647
Then why didn't you do that in the first place? That's what I did.
>>134479093
I never thought of googling "soft reset DS" before you brought it up though.
>>134477396
That's one thing that makes RF3 better (somewhat) than RF4 -- no RNG dependency. I don't have to wait for the event where Karinawants to move to the cityto randomly pop up, for example.
So how is Return to Popolocrois? I loved RF4, got kinda bored eventually with SoS, and loved Fantasy Life for what that's worth.
>>134480554

Rune Factory IV was my first RPG/farm/date thing. It was great. Stardew Valley's release reminded me of it.
Rune Factory 5 when?
Are any other RPG/farm/date things as good as RF4?

Try RF3 if you haven't already.
>>134497095
>Try RF3 if you haven't already.
I might just replay RF4, it's been awhile. There's SDV now too.
I really don't know what compelled me to try RF4. I remember being curious about the genre, but very reluctant. I'm glad I did, though... planning, fertilizing, planting, watering, shipping and all that were far more involving and satisfying than I ever would have thought.
>Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale
Is this more regular RPG than farming simulator?
>>134502884
Yeah, it's more of an RPG.
Playing Harvest Moon DS as my first Harvest Moon and I'm having lots offun
>Official/in-game art has steel/cream hair and grey eyes
>Fanart's all over the place on hair and eye hues and colors
What causes this, I wonder? What makes an artist pore over references and go "Mmmmmmm, maybe I'll give her strawberry hair and topaz eyes instead"? Styles and outfits you can kinda' waver on, this not so much and artist insist.

She has pink hair and brown eyes ingame and in official art.. I guess sometimes the shades of hair/eye color is brighter in fanart but it's still pink and brown
>>134520034
I agree with the brown eyes but her hair definitely seems to be more of a creamy brown with a tiny bit of pink.
I like Shiny Dolce better (black hair and blue eyes).
>>134522234
>>134522361
Shiny Clorica makes me think of a rabbit.
>>134522361
Shiny Amber doesn't look as good as regular Amber.
>>134522768
Probably because of the red eyes + two white long things on her head.
Do rabbits sleep a lot?
>never ever ever ever
>>134520034
>>134520709
I'd say that's bleedoff from her outfit filling the void left by her hair's very faint coloration: definately creamy, though maybe more of a *very* pale almond or apricot if colors have to be given. Her eyes are more of a gunmetal grey, though, which is just as well given how suited they are for cutting through bollocks with but a glance.
>>134526908
>how suited they are for cutting through bollocks with but a glance.
>>134526908
They're not even close to being gunmetal. Do you need to get your eyes checked, anon?

>>134531435
How would customizing other characters work?
>>134531435

>>134532749
>>134531435
You can (kind of) customize in Tides, and their portraits (also 3D models) change accordingly. But they were the same outfits otherwise every day.
RF4 you can change some accessories, but that's about it.
Remember when that one anon was posting pics of the 3D models? I wish they would've posted a pic of Pico's model.
>>134533427
With RF4, I meant just on the sprites. Portraits don't change.
>>134445195
Damn, that brings back a lot of memories.
I remember bringing Karen wine every single day. Even after we were married, I kept a stockpile of bottles and visited her every day at the store. Popping the question to her with that blue feather was the happiest moment of my tiny, digital farming life.
>>134532749
You could give them clothes/armor and they would wear it. That would be the easiest way.
>>134531435
Left to right:
Odette (Tides), Cinnamon (RFF), Lara? (RF1)
Last one is hard to tell since her eyes are closed, but that hair style, color, and length look like her.
>>134534805
>Odette
She doesn't have that one scar.
>>134534805
The hair looks pink rather than blue so I don't think it could be Odette.

That Elise cow thing all started from a simple question (that in May will have been asked a year ago):
"Which bachelorette would you dress up like a cow and do in your barn?"
>>134548304
So instead of a cow it would a wooly for the RF series?
>>134549387
There's cow-like monsters in RF though. Buffamoos, I think.
How was Lord of Magna? I never got around to playing it.
>>134550195
Mediocre. Not enough game there and it really needs a sequel to build on what they have.
>>134550453
>Not enough game there
Was there just not enough to do, or was the gameplay itself lacking in some way?
>>134550612
Both. Gameplay is kind of neat at first, but gets boring rather quickly and the boss fights are pretty bad.

Definitely Odette. She's the only one with that mix of approximate hairstyle, eye color, and hair color.
Just started playing Rune Factory 4, im a few hours in and i just have a ton of stuff in my chest. Lots of scrap metal, iron, amethyst, and random drops from slaying monsters.
What do i do with all of this, do i just ship it all out to sell or do i craft armor/weapons etc and sell it? I'm finding myself low on cash most of the time.
>>134541073
Well now I'll hate Karen forever, thank you anon.
>>134557386
You're always going to be wanting to upgrade things so it's best to just hoard stuff. If you really feel that you're low on money you could always make some food from the crops that you grow and sell those.

>>134573750
Pico is so small that it means 1 trillionth / 0.000000000001
Closest word that it comes from is a Spanish word for "peak", which is also one of the words for "lips".
>>134543225
Most definitely Jamie. I hate that you can marry them but they're still a 'can't have'.

http://therunefactory.wikia.com/wiki/Pico
A discussion over in the wiki claims that Pico and Dolce wereboth alive before Dolce became a guardian.

>>134576429
leia
>>134576574
But to win her heart you mustRemove Giorgio.
>>134576171
Isn't that singlehandedly disproved by Dolce's marriage event and when Luna is born?
>>134576171
>>134577252
Which is wrong as heck, as Pico gets an entire scene in Dolce's marriage explaining about why Dolce is so incredibly important to her to the point of obsession. She'd been dead and hanging around town for hundreds of years before Dolce was born, to the point where she couldn't even remember how she died in the first place. Dolce was literally the first thing she had ever felt after all that time, and she got hooked and hooked bad, thus forcing herself on the tyke as adopted sibling.
>>134576171
Another reason why this is false is because Marionetta was her own person, fixated on keeping people who are close to her around forever by painting them. Her ghost / doll she haunted was the monster that carried on her name before Dolce and Pico went there to "confront" it.
The Ghost Ray is also probably the insane person who killed her, as written in the diary you can come across the first time you go in to rescue Dolce. The murder is mentioned, then the ink turns red as they get increasingly unhinged - the only area it spawns in Obsidian Manor is, fittingly enough, the hall right outside the boss chamber that Marionetta resides in.
The only mystery really left iswhy Dolly's ears are pointy
>>134574161
Nope, but the wiki says it applies to all of the fields, the leased ones included, like the double water edit combo.
My burdocks on the leased root field wilted too. That was half my precious 5* seed stock. Really strange.
>>134579556
Are all the mammoths on the same field though? It's often stupid crap like that that screws you.

Fucking Hashimoto half-assing the child birth scene. Up until Animal Parade this wasn't the case. Makes me wonder if he ever attended to his wife while she was in labor (if he did have a wife). Really puts me off to be honest.

She looks annoyed. More than usual.
"So why DOES Pico talk in quotes anyway?"
>>134623031
In a lot of ways she's Dolce's emotional and humanist surrogate, an outlet for things she's too reserved to admit herself. Basically, a lot of what she says is her quoting Dolce's inner thoughts, though just how exact the words actually are compared to what flashes through Dolce's mind is up for debate.
>>134623775
I thought it was to convey a sort of echoed speech, but then again, you don't hear an echo in Pico's spoken lines.
>>134615260
>say/do something in a public restaurant

>>134622285
Maybe pointy ears are more sensative? Could also just be the fact that Lest is probably being very forward to her in public.
>>134623775
But that would mean Pico never speaks for herself.
Y'know, an interesting and lewd implication bubbled up after last night's little Pico x Dolce history talk: ghosts are by and large incorporeal, at most only being able to interact with objects for a short time like poltergeists. Dolce mentions as such during one of her daily conversations, that Pico basically memorizes any outfit Dolce makes for her and changes her appearance accordingly since she can't actually wear it directly. And if she can't wear an outfit Dolce makes for her, to that end she probably can't touch Dolce's outfit, either, since Dolce basically made it as well.
No wonder Pico's such a little sex maniac and Dolce is annoyed with her so: literally all of Pico's physical interactions with Dolce are her phasing through Dolce's clothes and copping a feel, in a manner of speaking.
>>134630910
Thus non-absolute "lot of ways" and "by and large" modifiers: she can speak for herself well enough, but she *is* a marionette tied to Dolce, though not under her control. Also, it's a nice subtle way of enforcing that she's a ghost, the echo of her former living self in a way like >>134623885 mentioned (as opposed to Eliza, who's just as much a non-traditional entity but doesn't get any text modifiers to play at such).

Up on pixiv, everything's tagged and saved numerically in their system so you can find a work easily as long as you've got the number and the artist hasn't wiped it, though you'll probably need to make an account to view things. Like so:

This reminds me of my hope that some bachelorettes in future titles will be more asserting about pursuing marriage (or in a timely manner, as opposed to the long ordeil as I've heard it from SoS). Rune Factory 4 did it pretty well withXiao Pai, but both Forte and Dolce could've made it work given how their events go: Forte as the act of pledging herself to you as your protector, Dolce as that last act of really letting her true feelings through and allowing herself to get well and truly close to other people.
>>134655916
Yeah, would've been interesting if the other bachelorettes had reverse proposals too.
>>134655916
Yeah, i agree with you! I really liked how immersive RF4 was, but i would really like to see something like this in future titles. An idea would be that, depending on your actions, different girls would start to talk to you, making gifts or something. A lot of HM games feel really stale, so a little optimization in the direction of RF4 would do the trick. What do you think?

>>134656469

>>134656469
It would be interesting, but it'd also have to be carefully tuned such that the player still has a sense of control about what's going on: Someone who isn't really interested in Amber from RF4 or Popuri from the more central HM games, for example, might not be comfortable with them advancing the relationship on their own because the player tripped certain conditions during earlier events, perhaps because the necessary choices were the nicer/right things to do. Mutual reciprocations of escalation, with each feeding into the other, eventually hitting a tipping point (ie, the marriage event) if the chain is long enough.
Though another element to be considered is that some people are just not the type to take that last step of their own accord and need that nudge from the player. Xiao Pai, Dolce and Forte are certainly of the type to go for it, butClorica's whole marriage event is about her learning she can't control everything in their relationship (though it could be framed as that she's got your ring ready and she's just waiting for hers, thus a mutual decision of engagement); Margaret, though her event's about finally getting over loss and the potential thereof, gets flustered and overwhelmed by extreme openness and needs a partner's emotional steadiness for support; and Amber...well, it's debatable just how well she really understands the implications of marriage before you pop the question.

I wonder how a Forte or Dolce reverse proposal would go down.

>>134742807
Aren't they also stronger and more resilient than regular people, almost like superheroes?
>>134759062
Earthmates are basically Greek heroes. Like Greek heroes, they come in different power levels. RF2 has both extremes: Dad is a relatively weak faggot, while the kid is OP as can be.
>>134761648
Has there ever been a rival earthmate?
>>134761887
Not that I've ever heard, and since in RF4 you find outthe Empire's been hunting them down since the events of RF1 it's probably going to be a few generations before they get back to sufficient population sizes for rivalry.
>>134761648
How is the kid in 2 overpowered?
>>134767325
Kid was like 7 years old when gen 2 started, and he ups and takes down an actual native dragon and not just some pale imitation, that's some ludicrous child hero shit right there. Imagine what the little bastard's going to be like in 10 years.
The fact that dad did relatively fuck-all during his phase besides pork a girl and help build a school does kinda' skew perceptions a bit, though.
>>134768108
Having not played it, that set up seems kind of weird. Are you going deep into dungeons, farming, forging gear, and all that as a little kid?
>>134768108
Can you stay in the first half of the game by not building the school?
>>134768508
Yep, and it is as hokey and contrived as you imagine, basically the game castrating you back to pre-pubesence.
>>134769439
Technically, but then that locks you off from like two-thirds of the game's content: no crafting of any kind, no access to the rest of the dungeons, no access to like 7 characters and a bunch of new dialogue from old ones.
Today's been lethargic as shit.

If HoLV was one of my favorite HMs, will I enjoy ANB or SoS more?
I ask this because they're both still pricey as fuck.
>>134828921
What did you like about HoLV?
Depending on that, you might or might not like ANB/SoS.
>>134826341
LoH:TSS drama? Do tell.
Seems like games being localized are a drama everywhere lately. What's so difficult about translating a game without butchering it?
>>134830108
Because translating is hard. If you're a translator, you have to be at least as good of a writer in your language as the original author was in theirs, and you have to be absolutely fluent in the original language on top of that. That's a difficult mix of skills in itself. Then, there are hard choices with cultural items (like jokes): do you leave it as is, translating literally (maybe with a note explaining it); do you make up some equivalent; or do you make up something completely new? Then there's the vidya problems with content: do you remove ""problematic"" things (because they're offensive, or maybe because they are age-inappropriate for your target audience (or your reputation)), or do you leave them in? Do you court controversy?
>>134829957
I dunno, it just hit a lot of points as to what a HM title should be. I know it's assets were based on what is commonly seen as the worst in the series (StH), but goddamn did they remake the thing from the ground up.
I guess the one thing that stood out the most in HoLV was the fact that every character storyline would impact the rest of the game and postgame in some way. I was also fond of the farming mechanics.
Basically sheer amount of content and shit to do are what I'm looking for. Along with that usual comfy HM feeling.
>>134830108
Years ago, Carpe Fulgur agreed to help translate the second LoH chapter to bring it to a western audience. Needless to say, the guy's anxiety/depression started kicking in, he made some formatting + story bible mistakes and their condition was exasperated by the missed deadlines and emails to the point where he sent what he had done over to XSEED, put all Carpe Fulgur's financial stuff in the other CF guy's mailbox and was about to kill himself with a knife.
While the guy did visually censor some loli bathing in Recettear/Fortune Summoners, I'd say the text was done decent enough in those games.
Needless to say, that one XSEED lady shed a bunch of pounds while finishing it all up and correcting everything. The whole ordeal behind that game is amazing in a terrifying way after reading about it from both sides.
>>134831384
My apologies, I understand the actual translating part isn't as easy as just literally translating, more my annoyance that there's been more controversy over what's been censored, then whatever would have happened if they didn't.
>>134831564
Fuck that really is a mess, I hope the lady got a small bonus (doubt it) to reward her for solving the mess.
These dungeons fucking suck. Every single one is like the final dungeon in an old Final Fantasy game, only with dead ends.
>>134832452
For a second I thought you said the dungeons were fucking sick and figured we'd finally get a positive sound about this game.
>>134832786
I think it's alright so far.
Have people been complaining? I haven't seen any discussion, period.
The farming feels a bit forced but it's a good turn-based RPG. The writing in particular is nice.
>>134831552
Well, I'm afraid you'll probably dislike ANB/SoS a bit.
The story is barebones unlike what you get in HoLV with branching storylines. It's like BtN on how barebones it is (Make farm successful. If not, you leave.) There's also no fail condition I'm aware of: you go at it in your own pace.
In terms of content, plotwise, it's not much, but in terms of farming, there's a lot. There's so much things to do that you have people complaining about it.
It's still a comfy game just like the rest. It's just that you won't get so much of it if you're going to play it only for the story.

>>134862686
One wonders how on earth things would get to that point to begin with.
Like maybeAmber's kinda' bummed when Lest and his GF (let's say Dolce) finally get married because she thinks that means less time spent with her, and she starts moping around until she finds some yuri/femdom mags Illuminata didn't hide as cleverly as she thought. She starts reading, gets VERY interested by the repeated mention of "love nectar" and lovemaking and all that other stuff, and figures "Hey, that's for me!"
So she visits Dolce one evening about 2 weeks after marriage, starts off beating around tehe bush before coming out with it: Dolce is naturally creeped out, but Amber starts unconsciously releasing pheromones that pacify Dolce and get her in the mood: cue Amber eating Dolce out, turning both of them the hell on and eventually ending with nether grinding where Amber winds up shooting some eggs into Dolce (no ovipositors on butterflies, it seems). Amber leaves, satisfied - and Dolce, still horny as hell from the pheromones, decides tonight is the night for her and Lest to make that decision about the future, except it's Amber's egg that gets fertilized instead.

>>134867248
Given the situation, would you really want that, anon?'cause chances are it'd end up with Dolce pregnant with both Lest and Amber's kids, Amber pregnant with Lest's kid - and Lest pregnant with Amber's kid after she shoots an egg into him in kind. Though I guess if one had a thing for pregnancy and traps/prettyboys and the ability to ignore certain logistical and biological issues that'd be a rather interesting scenario.

So is EDF 4.1 actually fun or am I about to fall for the "niche underappreciated game" meme?

The game has the following selling points:
1. Lots of shit blowing up
2.
If that doesn't motivate you, you're probably not going to enjoy it.

Interesting. Is that a standard thing in anime/manga?
Is it bad that I couldn't get into Rune Factory as much as I did Harvest Moon? I feel bad that I can't get into it as much as everyone else.
After finally finding a working Harvest Moon DS rom, and all my years as a kid playing AWL, it's hard to get used to the RPG stuff.Plus I like the artstyle that's being used in SoS more.
>>134911916
It's the reverse for me. I can't really get into HM, while I really enjoy RF.

Ahegao is pretty much the least sexy face ever. You'd think hentai in general would know sexy, but no, as a medium it's pretty much failed here.

There're worse, though of course it's a matter of just how well the artist pulls it off. Seen some nice ones, seen some where they look like they're having a stroke.

Yeah, it kinda depends on how well the artist did it. Even though I usually like ahegao some artists just do it in a way that seems off to me.

Ahegao only looks good if it's very mild and a cute boy

Now add Luna and possibly Noel into this mix. That one double bed in the Earthmate household must be snug as a can of sardines come bedtime.

The best is when it's that natural end culmination of having such a damn good time, a non-verbal "screw inhibition and higher thought, this is awesome and I'm all in." Maybe add a touch of cuddling, role-reversal and hand-holding to add to the good vibes.

>You will never head home and help her brush it out, the bristles sinking into those unfathomable lengths, gliding between those ruby bands and breaking down the odd knot; nor will you peek about that gleaming wall of red to check her in the mirror and catch the faintest glimmer of a smile turning at her mouth as she relishes that bit of intimacy and aid, though she'd never admit it
>You will never leave her hair a smooth, gleaming, fluffy sea of red that ebbs and flows in her wake, exuding the faint aroma of strange spice; never feel the waves part around your fingers as you take each other in your arms, hand cradling the back of her head; never go to sleep and slowly, groggily come to in the wee hours to find yourself snug to her back, the features of her lithe frame barely perceptible through the warm, springy blanket of her hair

If we're talking about Stardew Valley, then I need something clarified: why is (mostly) everybody who likes Stardew Valley saying it's better than HM because HM is bad now? I don't understand it. The 3DS titles have been good (not counting ToTT), and the only two DS ones were bad. The Wii games were also fun as well.
It's not like Stardew makes any radical changes to differentiate itself. Not to mention the waifus are fucking terrible, and I'm not just talking about their portraits.

Sure. Don't see how they can make such massive improvements to RF's inventory, action speed, and "automation" but refuse to do it to HM. RF4 was very forgiving if you got lazy but still had a ton of shit to collect and I easily put 4-5x as many hours in it as I'll ever put into SoS. 4 was also really fast. I loved how quick moving, switching items, load times, and tool actions were.
I want HM to be that fast. Make using all the fields more feasible by reducing the walk between them. Maybe I'd actually bother fishing. Have shops stock what you sell(including level) like RF4 so hoarding isn't so foreboding. Would love to have a mine like SI's again instead of a rock you smack daily.

Just started trails in the sky and already fucked up with the books. Do I NEED the books for something does it get imported in the next game?
>>135080805
HM and RF were made by completely different companies. I'm not sure about the timelines, but I think even SoS was in development before Neverland folded, and even then it uses the ANB engine, which was obviously done completely in-house by Marvelous. This new HM game might have some of the coding improvements that the Neverland devs could bring, but I doubt it, since it's still the ANB engine. It might be a bit faster, like SoS is compared to ANB, but I wouldn't expect too much, since RF teams and HM teams are still likely to be separate.

It's the opposite problem with act 3. You're going to have either a pretty hard or easy time getting it to start since it's a random event that can happen.

\I like how one of the enemies in Popolocrois is just a shoebill. It's called "Shoebill" and looks exactly like they do IRL. All the other enemies are monsters like you'd find in Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy.
>>135100669
How powerful is said shoebill?

Classic HM clone for the PC.
The game tries to be HM and RF, but is really underwhelming when it concerns the latter. Characters are half-assed, waifus and husbandos are half-assed. Some BGMs are suspiciously altered HM BGMs, also the fact that the publisher are SJW hacks, and the community itself is cancerous.

>Some BGMs are suspiciously altered HM BGMs
I don't think I've head about something like that yet. Do you have an example?
>>135101640
Not very, just a basic enemy with some stronger recolours.

Look for Mary's theme from BtN and compare.

>The shoebill is a tall bird, with a typical height range of 110 to 140 cm (43 to 55 in) and some specimens reaching as much as 152 cm (60 in). Length from tail to beak can range from 100 to 140 cm (39 to 55 in) and wingspan is 230 to 260 cm (7 ft 7 in to 8 ft 6 in).
Imagine running into one of these motherfuckers in the dark, damn is truth weirder than fiction sometimes.

Huh. Yeah, they are weirdly similar.

Does the SJW worldview they hold leak into the game itself at all?

So exactly like most Harvest Moons. It's also not trying to be RF. It's not an RPG. It just has some light combat to give you something else to do in the mines other that hit rocks. And a game should never be judged by its fanbase.inb4 someone calls me Stardew defense force.
>>135104147
It's the publisher's that're like that. They didn't make any of the game themselves.
>>135103515
>So how does it attack?
Pecking. They also appear in Story of Seasons in the safari and are the basis for LoZ:SS's Loftwings.

Staunchily protecting the game like that, you would be.
By definition, farming games like Harvest Moon are RPGs, since you assume a role as a farmer. RF includes dungeon crawling to branch out from HM. If you take the dungeon crawling aspect out, you still have a role as a farmer.
What I was saying was, it looked like the combat was added as an afterthought, like it was added there to slap off the supposed 'boredom' of mining. It was clear as day that Ape hadn't thought this out thoroughly.
I am judging the game by its fanbase due to the fact that they will come onto you with derision and ridicule if you somehow not know an aspect of the game or just insignificant things like scarecrow and sprinkler placements, and with the multiplayer patch oncoming, I would have to deal with these shitheads if I wanted things done.
>So exactly like most Harvest Moons
You have to point which ones. Also, the waifus and husbandos in Stardew aren't exactly likeable. They don't appeal to you in the slightest.
>>135112547
>capybara
Those giant South American rodents?
Are there any ordinary animals among enemies? Can you recruit enemies like in RF?
>>135112672
>By definition, farming games like Harvest Moon are RPGs, since you assume a role as a farmer.
That makes every game an RPG because you're playing as someone who isn't you doing things you don't do. Don't try to play semantics.
>You have to point which ones.
As I said, most of them. HM' is well known to have barebones dialogue and simple characters. It's only slowly getting better. Even SoS is lacking.
>I am judging the game by its fanbase due to the fact that...
Is the /vg/ thread the entire fanbase?
>They don't appeal to you in the slightest.
You mean "they don't appeal to me."
>>135113385
>Those giant South American rodents?
Yours is pretty small though.
>Are there any ordinary animals among enemies?
Just shoebills.
>Can you recruit enemies like in RF?
Nope.
>>135115124
>Nope.
That's no fun. That's one thing that made me really like RF -- it's like pokeymanz, but much broader in scope.
>>135113868
>That makes every game an RPG because you're playing as someone who isn't you doing things you don't do. Don't try to play semantics.
Not that guy, but RPG's are named such because you play a role, instead of just moving pieces around a board or whatever. Games like Clue were proto-rpg's, but then you have stuff like DnD where you, as a player, take on some sort of role. Eventually vidya took on RPG's relatively early, because dice rolls and lookup tables are easy, and text stories not much harder. Our modern "RPG" is a descendant of one game, Wizardy, from which came all the JRPG's, etc.
Getting hung up on RPG as a genre about stats and combat and stuff is pretty dumb, because the RPG is literally about playing a role, like an actor. This is why the fags on /v/ complaining about games like Witcher 3 or even Rune Factory not being RPG's because they're not about pure player choice, or character customization, or whatever, is also dumb, because the whole original point was that you are playing a character, full stop. ALL story games are RPG's, if the player controls a single character at a time as a "main" character. (Some tactics games wouldn't count, since the player isn't a singular set of characters, taking on a role, even though there's turns and stats and stuff. Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Zelda, etc, however, are RPG's that just use different gameplay styles to tell their stories, even if that story is as simple as "ape has princess, plumber must save princess from ape".)

Alas, my photoshop skills are insufficient to make a convincing nun shoebill...but after quite the struggle, the penguin emerged triumphant. Besides, we've got enough birds in these threads as it is.
