>From my testing, the rank mostly changes how much in-stage enemies shoot: on a high rank, enemies shoot tons of bullets like stage 5; on low rank, they shoot few bullets, like stage 1. Rank does not seem to affect bosses nor mid-bosses at all.
>If you take a while on bosses, you can probably add 6 to 10 to rank per-boss, out of a maximum of 240. The only way to affect rank is by making the game go by faster (by speedkilling bosses), and by not picking up power ups. The player 2 trick makes the power up value cut in half (instead of power level * 4, it's power level * 2), so you can cut up to 10 points off of rank by playing player 2 (sorry, my value was wrong; you can cut up to 1/24th of maximum rank. Don't know how I came up with 1/7th...).
>EDIT: The only inputs to the rank function are time, stage, loop, and power; nothing else can affect it.

Japanese players seem to use P1 side more often (like most players) and I've never heard about any tangible differences.

>>133422226
It's partially true though.
>>
>>133422820
It's both in general, but YGW admits in an interview a lot of Garegga's mechanics were unintended.
>>
>>133422820
And a hidden rank system does not make the game interesting, it purely exists to steal money.
Direct difficulty designed as an apparent game mechanic makes a game interesting.
>>
>>133423117
Rank is like level scaling to prevent the player from becoming too overpowered. If you are too OP the game becomes boring.
>>
>>133423428
But you can't be "overpowered" in these games, there's a cap on power. There's nothing stopping them from balancing the game around you being at max power.

There is no excuse for a system that secretly punishes you for doing well just to squeeze more cash out of your pocket.
>>
>>133423428
>>133423698
Rank makes sense in most arcade games and doesn't require management or thought, it's only if you're playing something made by YGW it becomes a mechanic you need to keep track of and manage.
>>
>>133423698
Unless you're way too good for the game and there's a need to ante up your sweating a bit.
>>
>>133423698
Of course you can be overpowered. If you constantly just collect weapon bombs in Garegga you easily can just bomb your way through it. If you use the bombs for scoring though, then the game becomes much harder.

So of course they had to implement some kind of rank system to prevent people who just play for survival to easily bomb their way through it.
>>
>>133423698
>>133423117
but there's plenty of games with rank that aren't arcade games
>>
>>133423915

YGW has a habit of reusing the same things and elements in his games I've noticed. Obsessive Rank Management, with a drive of stock/bomb gain and loss that ends up this weird game of abusing the fact that his games will forever keep giving 1Up's at score hallmarks, so you willingly die just before one to ensure to get the greatest rank drop before regaining your safety net.

>>133454902
You definitely have to do some rank management, but it's not too complicated. For example don't collect too many main shot powerups if you play with Wild Snail, and try to use only 2 options until stage 5/6. Also don't shoot if you don't have to, that should be enough.
>>
>>133454902
Yeah, you have to score decently to get enough extends and suicide sometimes to decrease rank, getting medals is enough for that though. From level 5 and 6 you can forget pretty much any rank manipulation.

>>133454997
Thanks dude.
>>
>>133455687
I always found collecting medals isn't rewarding enough to collect them. Plus they also increase the rank if you collect them.
>>
>>133455965
Only low value medals increase rank that much, 10k medals increase very little rank. My strategy was to not lose my medal-chain until Stage 6, then you can forget about them.
>>
>>133455687
You're welcome dude.
>>
>>133456245
I know, but it's still not neccessary to collect medals, since they hardly give any points. You need to collect 100 10K medals for a single extend... Regarding how demanding it is to collect them and how much bomb resources you blow out of the window(which also increases your rank) to make them appear, I find it is much better to play without medalling if you just want to 1cc the game.

Please point me out where he said that he was only talking about danmaku. He was saying (i repeat it to you again), "in horizontal shooters it's impossible to see properly if you are in the path of a bullet".

Danmaku games are not the only shooters with bullets, you fucktard.
>>
>>133484292
>Why would this only count for danmaku? Are danmaku the only games with bullets now?
Because of the bullet count and small hitbox danmaku requires a type of refined focus and dodging style that isn't the same in typical horis. For what it's worth i hate cave horis but love metal black, border down, gradius and neither of these play fuck all like progear despite the retards here failing to see past hori orientation. When you are dumning shit down to a "everything that has bullets and hori is the same" you are showing you don't know or haven't played enough.
>>
>>133484414
>Danmaku games are not the only shooters with bullets, you fucktard.
Obviously but they are the only ones that cram shit loads around a small hitbox concept you fucking pleb. I addressed it already but if you think playing progear is like playing other horis you're a fucking spastic. I will throat fuck your mother for no apparent reason.
>>
>>133484446
Lower bullet count does not mean no bullets at all, you fucktard.
You still have to look if you are in the path of a bullet in Gradius, which was exactly what this person was talking bout
>>
>>133484568
Gradius V also has a small hitbox and high bullet count, yet it plays perfectly fine as a hori, better than any cave garbage ever will.

You fucking cavedrone are just pulling shit out of your ass to defend your beloved Cave clown yet you have no idea what you are talking about
>>
>>133484872

Hey bro, you can like cave and other shmups.
>>
>>133484672
Still fucking derping, comparing progear to gradius is like comparing raiden to ketsui sure they all have bullets but the way you play and look at the game is completely different why can't you grasp this? A large hitbox can't be as versatile and the game design will ave less bullets to accommodate this therefore visually you have less in the way of spam to confuse your eyes and more in the way of memorizing a plan. Danmakus allow a certain amount of luck to be achieved due to the nature of the hitbox. Honestly have you even play a fucking shmup from each camp? So again no one is saying "hurrrr no bullets" of course they all have fucking bullets but from a player perspective danmaku is completley different to classic. If they were all the same in the over simplified dumb fashion you suggest then learning one game would translate to all however this clearly isn't the case as some ppl are great at classics but shit at danmaku and vice versa.

>>133484872
You know i hate cave horis right? and am a massive gradius fanboy right? So non of what you suggest is even relevant im not even sure where you got it from as im not defending anything other than the stupid idea that all horis play the same simply because they all feature bullets. FYI Gradius V is the worst gradius that dumbed down the concept to suit the cave drones and plebs you criticize, idiot. It does play better than any cave hori though i agree.
>>
>>133484872
Doesn't have nearly as high of a bullet count and the patterns are very basic compared to the average CAVE game
>>
>>133485043
>im not defending anything other than the stupid idea that all horis play the same
Where did I ever say that all horis play the same, you fucking retard?

I don't give a single shit what kind of games you mentally challenged retard like, but stop pulling shit out of your ass just to defend your beloved Ikeda. He was clearly stating that in hori games you can't dodge properly, and never said anything about that this would only count for Progear or danmaku.

If you can't understand this, then you really should seek help. Just because the interview was about Progear, does not mean that saying "you can't see the path of a bullet in horizontal scrollers" does not apply to horizontal shooters in general.

It does not fucking matter if it's bullet hell or not, since the person talked about seeing the path of a bullet horizontally. It does not matter if your hitbox is smaller or not, nor does it matter if there are ten bullets, or 100 bullets. He was talking about seeing the path of a bullet horizontally ffs.

>>
>>133486512
Of course it has to do with it. fucktard. Gradius doesn't just mind numbingly throw bullet pattenrs at you, it actually also has level design where you have to dodge environmental hazards and enemies.

And the bullet patterns in V are not basic at all. In the stage with the meteroids for example the whole screen is just full of metroids and bullets flying in completely arbitrary and random ways, constantly bouncing off of each other. This is much more complex to dodge than than your shitty aimed Cave bullets or spiral patterns, which only become hard when they fly with unfair speed at you.

Yes it matters as in clasical shmups its far easier to see the threatening bullets and calulate your hitbox due to it being much more visual and clear where as danmaku aims to give you sensory overload and in that situation which ikeda was specifically talking about it can be a problem seeing the horizontal bullets in relationship to the ship when the hitbox is 2 pixels and there's a screen of bullets. People who hate progear have no issue with other horis at all why is that? do you understand yet? You're so dumb you can't even see when you imply something and you make assumptions like a mother fucker also show your scores because now i believe you're a shit player with no experience in the genre and that'd explain your inability to understand. Just a reminder you said something this hilarious moronic.....

That's complete bullshit. Bullets in Cave games are mostly visible as fuck, since they have very distinct colors and very big textures. Shit's just been falling apart in general. When I practice individual stages the future looks bright, but on the next day my progress is seemingly undone and I need to learn everything again, so I was already feeling like I had been stuck in the same place when today I couldn't even get good at all. Stage 4A is crazy, stage 2 features strange difficulty spikes, I can sort of do the rest but the one time I made it into stage 5 I got so nervous I started forgetting Reisen's spells, and yeah, that was it for me.

I'm already at 36 hours of playtime in IN. Pretty sure I got my Lunatic 1cc's of EoSD and PCB summarily in about that time or less. Man, I heard this game was easy.

I've heard an anon said once that practicing stages individually is a waste of time. Running through a stage in practice wont help you on a full run, since you have a different state of mind.

I suppose there is a bit of truth to that, but I have manage to attain consistency on some stages through practice so take it with a grain of salt.
>>
>>133572257
The nervousness when doing good is the worst. But that's what I love about about this genre.
>>
>>133572257
Easy in that it gives you a shitload of resources, yes, and the patterns are a bit more static, but I'm sure there's a lot more happening in IN than EoSD or PCB.

True I suppose, at some point stage practice doesn't do much anymore for a full run. I fell back on redoing later stages in practice mode after failing my best attempt at Reisen in the aforementioned way, both because I didn't want to see Wriggle again and because I wanted to jog my memory a bit.

Anyways, gotta get on it and do more runs when I'm rested. I can't stand being bad at danmaku, it's a personal offense toward myself. It's a good thing that I have cleared Lunatic modes before (while finding them easy for some reason) so I can remind myself that I'm in fact qualified for what I'm doing, to keep up motivation.

>>133575026
I agree, it's exhilarating.
>>
>>133578396
I admit I'm reluctant to use up ALL of my resources. I bomb nearly always but if I end up bombing on Reimu's every spell and nonspell I consider that run failed, it just feels bad, so I restart. Maybe that's silly.
>>
>>133574782
That's bullshit. If you feel stage practice isn't working, you're doing stage practice wrong. Try to think during practice and make an effort focus on trouble spots if you have access to savestates.

Runs are eventually necessary as well, of course, but practice especially on the latter stages of a game seldom reached in credits is very useful.

I assume it's hyperbole. I haven't really tried out the hard games, but in Touhou as played for survival, all those perfect and nearly-perfect individually practiced stages combine to form an awkward full run more often than not because of nervousness and whatever else, so you don't really need the practice mode after you've become familiar with the stages anyway. In this case it can be said that stage practice after a certain point is 'a waste of time.' Anyways, I don't really know much about this.

Shumps can help if you are already good at them. More of a focus tool than actual aid though, it /will/ bring frustration on bad days.

It's only a temporary aid. Getting a good diet & exersize, a clean room, and consistently bathed will do you more good than a Shump can. Oh, and a Puppy. Or two. Or Eight.

Then try this alternative method:
Do full runs using continues so you get used to reach the latter stages with different levels of resources and mental fatigue. The objetive should be slowly decreasing the amount of credits you use until you can finish it with only one.

It's not as fun as 1cc attempts (and neither as stressing) but you'll get a greater amount of experience with the whole game.

I would, but they don't exist. Or rather they do exist but are barely functional and completely useless unless you want to see MAME go apeshit.

arcade players use credit feeding to learn a new game and it's an incredibly inefficient process.
I remember reading about some shitstorm where a Ketsui player got a special PCB from CAVE which allowed him to practice the TLB.

>EoSD seems to have been a bit harder to get a 1cc in.
...because I started trying EoSD while completely comfortable with controls, whereas for IN, I switched from WASD to arrow keys and relearned to play with my right hand, which did a number on me pretty much, but I think it's better for me to use my right hand. Right now I can make short adjustments with my right hand more consistently, but my left hand remains the only one with which I can do perfect circles, and it's better suited to complex movements overall. I hope to change that.

I'd say it's definitely worth a try. OST is god-tier if you like electronic, some patterns are really creative with uses of the shield, just a generally fun game.

It's a bit on the easy and short side if you only do the main game, but the Extra stages are just as long and really crank up the difficulty compared to the main game.

It has fewer mandatory bomb/death attacks but it also has the bomb shield. And you're also low on resources after the first boss.

Phase 1 pattern 3 is a random mess that is skewed by Larsa's random movements and likes to trap you.

In Phase 2 you're on a time limit because if you don't do enough damage before she starts the 4th pattern you're pretty much fucked, so you can't bomb too much.

The final attack seems pretty random too, sometimes it lets you dodge for a long time but sometimes you have to bomb almost immediately and if you get unlucky you'll run out of resources prematurely.

The first S5 boss seems scary at first but it's more about resource management than anything, because you're going to die at least twice to it no matter what. The only really hard phase is phase 1 because you have to actually dodge some of it.

That depends on a few things, like whether you're wanting to play for survival or score, or whether you just wanna pop in a few credits now and then.

For the first two, I'd suggest putting your nose to the grindstone and get to work finding your way through the stages, learning what happens where and what you want to do about it, and pushing yourself for pb's and beating the game with no continues.

You could also just keep messing about, trying to find the game that you like well enough that you WANT to dedicate your time to it, and once that happens see the last paragraph.

In Ketsui, not really since the first loop is a lot of fun, a completely different beast from the second loop, and you inevitably have to play it for a lot of time down the line if you want to get into the Ura loop. I guess it might become that way if you reach superplayer level and enter the Ura loop on a daily basis, but there's no risk of that happening for me.

CAVE games usually do looping well with the second loop having different mechanics and the first loop having meaningful scoring and such. But there's a lot of arcade games with shitty loops, especially older titles.

Both of them require a great amount of repetition and will invite much failure and frustration, just for different reasons. Practicing your execution, understanding the spacing, move properties, and matchups of characters, etc. It's fine to say "I'm not willing to commit to X" because that's fair and reasonable. That's all that "autistic" means in these contexts anyway, and to that I'll offer the age old retort of the average Dark Souls/Monster Shitter fanboy: Git gud.

How exactly am I supposed to map my inputs to a controller?
>>
>>133726576
From the in-game menu. Just boot up a game and press Tab.
>>
>>133726576
When you launched it, press Tab and go to whatever controls config you find. After that it's pretty obvious.
>>
>>133718390
I have an easy enough retort for that, though, since I also play Souls games.
>>
>>133721880

>if you reach superplayer level and enter the Ura loop on a daily basis
At that level daily basis is highly unlikely. I remember mrmonkeyman commenting not to long ago about it being 6 months since he last qualified for the ura loop and he's been playing for 7 years.

>>133709659
Ketsui no because as mentioned the 2nd loop is completely different and the first loop can be as risky or safe as you choose depending on your scoring routes.

>>133731056
Mrmonkeyman is not a superplayer though. SPS is a superplayer and he practically reaches Ura every run, as evidenced by his runs at Stunfest where he not just got an Ura 2-ALL on his 2nd run of the first day, but also got an Ura 2-ALL on his first run on the 2nd day. Oh yeah, and in one of those runs he No-Missed Doom, no problem.

If it takes MMM 6 months to loop to Ura then he is most definitely doing something stupid in his route.
>>
>>133733463
I've only been able to reach ura loop 3 times out of 100 tries. More often than not it's because of my score.
>>
>>133734739
Then start scoring? Ketsui gives a shitload of free points, you shouldn't be having any problems getting over 120m unless you're avoiding scoring tricks on purpose.

I've literally never scored beneath 120m in any of my runs, even my very first 1-ALL had a higher score than that and lately I've been scoring in the 200m+ range and I'm not even going for an Ura 2-ALL. Good luck learning strats, there's plenty to choose from anon.
>>
>>133715285
There was some dumb scoring tech found out for this game by project ako recently....
>>
I got the Omote 2-ALL. With a low 269-million score due to a dreadful first loop, but a clear's a clear.

>>133734739
What >>133736218 said. Basic scoring on the first 4 stages can be very low-risk and will get you 120mil without failure, you could also only score 1-5 very cautiously and get all the necessary extra points from that stage alone as well.

I would like to do Ura, but actually qualifying for the loop seems extremely difficult with my current lack of consistency. Getting to Omote with any resources already broke my back, so I don't think I should aim for Ura before playing other games and trying to get better, since I don't want to be stuck in the first loop for months at a time.
>>
>>133723269
If I had a problem with the genre I probably wouldnt play it. I still find it pretty autistic though when you look at how often you sometimes have to repeat the same shit over and over again. It's like torturing yourself just to be able to 1cc a game once.
>>

>>

>>
>>133745670
Are you sure you ever played a difficult game of the genre?
>>
>>133748949
Is Lunatic Touhou what you would call difficult? In my opinion, maintaining practice may look like torture, but only to the same kind of outsider that would see you as hardcore for getting a few 1cc's. If I -really- feel like the game I'm trying to beat is torturing me, I quit. The rest is fun.
>>
>>133750304
>touhou tard calling me an "outsider"
When a game is so difficult that you have to repeat it for like 300 times and then only die because you dodged a milimetre too far to the left and have to do the same stuff all over again and again and again, then one could speak of this as torture.

The Japanese STG difficulty wiki had Ketsui Ura survival as a 43, with +1 for using Tiger instead of Panzer for what it's worth.

The lock-on options/laser combination is one of the most fun weapons to use in any shmup, and is only made better by the scoring system. The loop has suicide bullet vomit trails done right, instead of putrid garbage like V-V that many suicide bullet implementations end up being.
>>
>>133853053
>What's the appeal of Ketsui? You faggots are always talking about it.
Aside from the gritty military aesthetic and godly sound track the game itself just gets better and fucking better the more you learn it and it is very much a shmup you learn in a memory way that still offers you enough freedom to improvise when you have to. The scoring is caves best and offers full freedom to tailor your scoring routes to your skill level and how much risk you are willing to take and as it isnt stage long chaining you can make decisions with every step. The loop qualifications really add to the tension when playing the first loop especially 1-5 and then the loops themselves have a completely different scoring system and suicide bullets so it's not just a boring repeat with more bullets. Just a fucking awesome game through and through. I got super close to my first 2-all tonight with a pb so i may be a little biased but yeah just play it and actually try to learn it then you'll really appreciate it's appeal.

I entered the loop with all lives and 3 bombs, chickened out of the 2-3 1up being forced to bomb after a super risky cornering ordeal and i got trolled out of the 2-5 1up because the faggot flew off. Overall for me a decent run and i'm starting to feel that confidence that i can actually 2-all this game in the future.

How often do you use savestates?
Do you just make one at the start of each level/boss? Or do you save around parts you personally find difficult?
Or do you not use them at all?
>>
>>133864249
Start of level, start of midboss, start of boss. Then, if a particular section gives me too much trouble, I'll make on there as well.

That is of course if the game is able to be emulated. Otherwise I just kinda smash my face against it until the game relents or I scurry off to shitpost about how much I dislike the game.
>>
>>133864249
I make a savestate for every part of the game for easy access.

In DOJ I have like 6 for stage 1 and probably over 10 for stage 3
In Donpachi the scoring is made up of a series of shorter chains rather than one big chain so it makes sense to have one for every chain.

Since I'm maining Futari right now I don't get to use savestates, I don't even get to practice midbosses. At least I don't play Touhou, if I had to deal with ZUN's unbelievably shitty practice modes I'd drink myself to death.
>>
>>133864249
I only use savestates to memorize stages. After I memorized them I always start from the beginning until I lose all lifes.

Using savestates becomes boring after a while that's why I don't use them anymore as soon as I find it possible for me to not die.

Many games are so difficult that you could practice them for months and still make mistakes, that's why I just use savestates for memorization, but not to completely "master" the stage.

DoDonPachi in particular gives you a good base to play other games if you so desire.

The last game on the list is

Which means Raiden V sold less than 6,000 copies.

So who else is shit at these games? I feel like no matter how much I practice, I'm not getting any better. I hit a wall a year or two ago and I haven't moved an inch since. It sucks knowing I'm worse than 90% of the people in these threads.

I still have no 1ccs, no 1-alls, a garbage bomb reflex, and absolute dog shit consistency.
I like to think a part of it is having transitioned from keyboard to joystick a few months ago, but I feel pretty good on it by now and it feels like most of my trouble is technique and reading rather than any problems with input anyways
>>

Any change of input will affect you. Especially since you switched to joystick after playing for, as you said yourself, a couple of years.

Besides, keyboards are better for most shmups.

I am but I'm getting better little by little honestly. If I played more fervently instead of breaking up sessions with other things I'd probably be doing a lot better, but I'm easily distracted and prone to dividing my attention among many things at once.

I've 1CC'd ADH in DariusBurst but that's was purely accidental and haven't really attempted any others aside from I think CGK. I've gotten better at doing little things here and there in various games. Just keep at it, results come with repetition.
>>
>tfw dying more in easy stages than hard ones
>>
>>133880148
The first 1-all is brutal. It took me a month straight of throwing NEET days at it.

How and how often do you practice? Are you working on finding consistent ways through the stages or "being able to react well"? You can also route in where you're going to bomb/burst/etc, so that you don't have to rely on reaction time.
>>
>>133880148
What game are you having trouble with? Anyone can improve at shmups, it just takes multiple perspectives to tackle the games and until you're aware of different ways of thinking you'll be having a hard time 1ccing shmups.

Have you started making a route yet? If you're having trouble and are serious about clearing then you have to start by making a route.
>>
>>133879043
hardly surprising, given Xbone exclusivity
>>
>>133880656
>How and how often do you practice?
An hour a day or so, sometimes more, sometimes none at all.

>Are you working on finding consistent ways through the stages
Some stages, yeah. I usually just wing the first two or three and then practice individual stages past there and memorize routes depending on how things are laid out. Routes feel a lot more or less intuitive depending on the segment, like I have a really strict route for the second half of DOJ's stage 3 but then I just sort of freeform the elevator section following a few nonspecific patterns.

>>133880740
I keep jumping around which game I want to go for the 1-all in first, I was originally doing DOJ because I love the music and atmosphere but decided I didn't like a lot about the game's actual gameplay. I'm sort of toying between DDP and Ketsui atm, I can consistently get up to stage 4 or 5 in DDP but I can't work out a good route for stage 4. Ketsui is hard, but I like the game a lot.

I think you should've stuck out going for a DOJ 1-ALL at least. Jumping around from game to game is not a good thing.

Sometimes you need to let a game kick your ass for a long period of time or you won't learn about the things you shouldn't be doing when you're going for 1ccs.

There's a lot of Ketsui players in this thread so you'll be able to get quite some advice if you ask for it. It's important to learn from other players!
>>
>>133882530
>I think you should've stuck out going for a DOJ 1-ALL at least. Jumping around from game to game is not a good thing.
I didn't really put that much time into it, and the amount of frustration I was getting from it compared to other games made me feel like it really just wasn't worth it. I'd play for 30 minutes and get so pissed off that it would kill my mood for the entire day. I've been sticking to DDP pretty hard since then, I'm just toying around with Ketsui on the side for now.

I'm just at the point where I'm early enough into learning any of them that I'm still open to finding out that one is better for me than the others before I start really digging in

Gothic wa Mahou Otome just updated and now there's a new guild feature of some sort. I have no idea what this all is and I'm too tired to deal with it right now.

Ok, so I'm wanting to play videogames, and whenever I install something I end up playing stgs, and there's no way in hell I can manage to play anything else.
I'm worried.
Send help.

Here's an idea for a videogame, go develop it or something.

Otherwise see DOJ Death Labal.
>>
>>134079345
Futari Ultra playing as Normal Palm is virtually impossible.

Rescue/SSERESS is working on it though, he got to the TLB 1st form on defaults but that's still a long way to go. Also you're forced to take a death in stage 2 because N.Palm can't into icicles.

Also SDOJ with inbachi

Anyone coming to stunfest this year?

There will be the usual Cave stuff, but also some emphasis on Darius this time, with DBACEX, G-Darius, D.Gaiden and Sagaia cabs.

Something else I have to mention, what the fuck is up with the story in the DoDonPachi series?! It's easily the darkest story I've seen in a shmup!!

DoDonPachi has a story?
>>
>>134084570
Yes it has a storyline. You're probably so distracted by the crazy amount of bullets to notice. Which is fair because who plays shooters for the fucking story?
>>
>>134083108
He's very weak compared to the other shot types.
Stage 2 and the last bosses are where he has the most trouble. The TLB is very small so you have to constantly hug the bottom of the screen to try to keep most of your lasers on her, and every icicle section in stage 2 is a mandatory bomb/death

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vjj7sTB7m0

Palm Abnormal is the most commonly used because his laser is so powerful. You have a very limited amount of resources to work with for the last bosses. If you use a weaker type you have to make those resources go a lot further.
Ab.Palm can easily take down the second phase of the TLB before the ridiculously difficult 4th pattern, N.Reco can just barely make it if you do enough damage, but N.Palm can't even come close, so he had to find a way to make it through that attack without spending too much resources.
>>
>>134084891
I wouldn't know how bad normal Palm is since I've only played Black Label.
>>
>>134079638
>Otherwise see DOJ Death Labal.
But that has been beaten.
>>
>>134085557
It took 7 years.
>>
>>134085025
It's a really awkward type to use, when you move up his lasers fan out, when you move down they bunch together.

Palm in BL is like a combination of his two shot types.
>>
>>134086078
He isn't too bad in Black Label to be honest. But yeah, abmornal Palm is very good.
>>
>>134085660
7 years?! Well I did see that you only have one life, you have to deal with the loop 2 versions of the bosses, and 2 Hibachis. I have nightmares about Hibachi but two of them is fucking insane.
>>

Damn you Eirin.

Tried the safe spot as well but it's extraordinarily hard to get. Usually I'm caught trying to move exactly one increment, instead ending up overshooting by one more.
>>
>>134131981
I always hated this kind of pixel dodging even when I played 2hu regularly. Probably compounded by the fact that my keyboard isn't very good.
>>
>>134132452
My keyboard is state of the art, apparently it's just Remilia's fault for being fast. Just had much better success with Reimu&Yukari. Ah well.
>>
>>134133257
I found my consistency improves slightly using the 'go with the flow' technique, where you move down with the pattern moving into spaces as they open up. There's less risk of getting trapped at the bottom that way.

Still have to try out Lunatic UFO but I'm expecting the best. I did a Normal clear months ago in which I bombed on something like 80% of Byakuren's repertoire; that was the absolute low point of my Normal clears. Having said that, I got pretty good at UFO collection and would totally do that again.
