You have to use the CEs just to do regular damage even with a Saber team and it takes forever to build up your NP gauge and you can't possibly spend Wave 1 and 2 spamming Arts and hoping to charge your NP gauge because the enemies are still doing heavy damage and will wipe your team if you let them stay around too long.

Lily CEs only make your attacks stronger - you're still a sitting duck out there with no defense and enemies that do powerful criticals
