Nah it's pretty consistent with how he sees Northern monarchs in general. He makes his feelings quite clear in the prologue when Foltest isn't in earshot.

Since there's no perma-death in W3 I decided to punish myself by fapping 5 times in a row if I ever died. I haven't had to do that since lvl 7.
I'm now lvl 21 playing on DM and I feel like all of the difficulty has left the game.

I don't have any skill points allocated and play with no armor equipped but I still don't ever die. Is there a mod (other than that combat enhancement mod that doesn't really do anything) or handicap anyone can recommend to increase the difficulty?

I don't think CDPR actually thought much about future games when they were making The Witcher 1, so it's probably worth taking the lack of Yen until Witcher 2 at face value and assuming that she was supposed to be dead until CDPR decided to bring her back for 2. Kinda like how Ciri was written out of the plot in a throwaway conversation with an NPC in the first game and not even mentioned until TW3, since the stories of TW1 and TW2 really couldn't have been told if Ciri was still hanging around.

Ciri is alive but almost impossible to track. Yennefer may or may not have been alive. The only reason to believe she's not dead at that point is that Geralt isn't. Which isn't a lot to go on. And until his memories started coming back on their own, he probably wouldn't be nearly as driven as he was later. In TW1 it would be purely out of a sense of obligation and a lack of direction, unlike in TW2 where it's love.

There are so many journal entries in the game due to how long it is that some of them had changes made to the corresponding quest that are not reflected in the journal. Someone post that pic of the journal entry that suggests Geralt is trying to save Shani from something when going to talk to the scholar.

Novigrad is the initial low point. The final act is somewhat rushed. Overall not the most complex thing but generally quite well executed and it did a very good job making me attached to the characters and causing emotions. Does decent job enforcing the themes too, though some of the choices are better for that than others.

Hearts of Stone is a better, tighter story I think, objectively, but there are moments in TW3's main quest that no other game has ever equaled in terms of the emotional impact I experienced. People that have finished the game know what parts I'm talking about.
