- used FMP. open eshop via old hans. error (cant finish 99%)
- used FMP. open eshop via new hans. error (404 error, due to shitty smea eshop spoof)
- used FMP. download update via Y in homemenu. error 99% wants me to update
- simply pressing Y in homemenu. error 99% wants me to update

My guess would be that the spoofing works, but due to the nag inside the emunand the system knows something isnt right and wants you to update it.
You could try to remove the update nag and try then downloading the updates via homemenu (pressing Y) after using FMP ofcourse

What did you need to do in HANS to make it work? I tried launching with JP language, but that didn't do the trick.

Here's a stupid question that I haven't found a definite answer for yet, can I play any region game on my US console? Meaning if i get the EU cia can I still play it, or do I need to keep looking for a US cia?

Also, besides google, which hasn't turned up very many games, where can I start digging for more viable CIAs?

Far as I know, howling theme is shit.

If you want to install a theme without dealing with that bullshit, just copy every file in the theme except for the .txt, paste it in the menuhaxmanger folder in the 3ds folder, open homebrew in the NAND you want the theme in (use the homebrew launcher cia), go to menuhaxmanager and select install custom theme.

Just install FBI.cia with any .cia installer of your choice, FBI itself works too. I had to swap to another game in-between before the 3DS would recognize the newer version. I guess the system isn't quite built for apps to upgrade themselves.

If you're paranoid about losing your .cia installer, grab bigbluemenu or devmenu from somewhere and install that before you install that FBI build.

Retroarch gpSP .cia is pretty good on n3ds, desu. It's worth a try to see if it suits your needs. Sleep works, rebindable controls, scaling options, etc.

Downsides are there are slight video glitches (scanline ~8 and 12 or so), and the sound is excessively noisy. It seems to run Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Metroid: Zero Mission full speed though, which are among my favorite games for the system and some of the most demanding for emulators.

If you just want to play Pokemon Emerald, then even an o3ds can handle it just great. Super un-demanding.

fuck, I finally got to Ver. 9.2.0-20U from 10.3 after an hour with my N3DS XL. The actual reboot in 10 seconds only took one attempt, i'm wonder what frustration I missed out on now.

What I read suggested nintendo wasn't actually emulating, just super underclocking the secondary processor so that it resembles a GBA one. I think that the current ARM9 arch is a superset of the ARM that was in the GBA, meaning that all the instructions *should* still be supported (same way you can run most shit designed for pentium 4 on a modern i7).

I heard this is why there's no save states, sleep functions etc like other VC games, because the console actually "thinks" it's a GBA and not emulating it.

Where I'm really interested in VC injection etc is for DMG games, as Gambatte still has sound glitches on 3ds. Specifically, can you play Link's Awakening (non-DX) in pea-soup green, with no sound glitches?

Google "retroarch 3ds nightly"

download the most recent one that ends in .cia

put gpsp-libretro.cia on your sd card

put some roms on your sd card. I recommend creating a folder /roms/gba/ and putting .gba roms in there

put the sd card back in and install the gpsp cia

launch it

go to "settings->video" turn ON integer scaling

load content

tap the upper half of the touch screen to get rid of all the text and shit. tap the lower half of the touch screen to enter the options menu again.

When i open it, it says it needs an update, and i'm worried if i do it i'll ruin everything. Am i safe to update? If i can't update it in one NAND can i do it in another? As a musician who has tried LSDJ in DMG injection, I can say that there are definitely some sound emulation inconsistencies in the VC GB emulator for 3DS (volume sliding is different than the actual DMG)

But otherwise, the game was already officially released as DX, so I wouldn't doubt the GB version running just as well.

Make SURE you're on emuNAND and your version has an RX or whatever in front of it.

Been following this guide for my O3DS http://pastebin.com/EBKipkPW and I'm stuck right at the beginning with the browser part. The browser would say "terminated script executions" and then not load everything on the page, leaving the page with just those black and white stripes. And I don't see any slider.

Still at 10.3 so it shouldn't have been patched.

There's one part where it is required for you to format the sysNAND, you can't avoid it i'm pretty sure. If you don't want to lose saves or something, back it all up onto your pc or buy a new sd card to work with.

Since I've no idea which one you are, I'll try to answer both.

1. Install the Health and Safety thing to the sysnand instead of the emunand. Again, I've not messed around with that sort of stuff myself.

2. Go to the data management and delete the themes from there. It should be in either extra data or downloadable content, I can't remember which.

this is definitely confusing. it sounds like you may have set your auto/coldboot backwards - if L+A takes you to 10.3 with BBM, that should be your emunand. holding nothing takes you to sysnand. you may just need to change your menuhax triggers in sysnand.
