I have read the guides but i am still wondering what is the best path for a min maxing ranger.
Would going fighter until 10 / ranger and the assasin do?
There used to be a more indepth min maxin guide in the general with actual stats and what levels to change but i dont have it now

Same for pawn. I think it went fighter/ sorcerer and then mage at 100 for healslut

I've played the game on Xbox but only about 20 hours in and I was the same vocation throughout.

If I get to level 10 as a Strider, then get to around level 20 as a Ranger, how strong would I be if I switched from Ranger to Sorcerer?

What factors into Magic Archer and Mystic Knights damage? Do they rely more on Physical or Magic damage?

So far I've leveled 1-11 Fighter and 12-16 Assassin and I want it to be round enough so I can do the wambo damage that Magic Archers are famous for.

MA is almost all Magic with the notable exception of Immolation, which scales with Strength. If you want to go the Immolation route, I'd look up a specific build for it.

MK mixes it up more. Great Cannon is where the 60/40 figure comes from, which is the approximate way of figuring its damage (you can look up more here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17Avxu-W6BCjDrglXtHg8Z3sKB_z_5tlWhV1Vmf_YWHw/edit#bookmark=id.xcntotwgg2h8 ). MKs get a boatload of Magic AND Physical skills, so it'll really boil down to how you want to play one.

It's mostly based on your equipment, but levelling sorceror a bit should help if you are worried about magick attack, mage is more on magic defence.
I also recommend looking around for crafting more potent curatives if it is nothing but harspud juices with you, otherwise stock up on mushrooms for stamina and empty bottles, then look around for a healing spring (it glows so it is noot particularly hard to miss, you even have to escort someone to it fairly early) and bottle that shit up, it's a decent early to mid game healing potion amd you can de rot any spoiled things with one. Just use it excessively if you have no healing pawn or are out of grey health.

It's not really clear what you're asking, exactly.

The Fighter vocation is the first sword-and-board vocation you get access to. Yes, it can be successful to use it offensively. There's no reason to suspect it couldn't be.

Assassin can also use sword and board, and is even more offensive with the best attack skills for sword in the game.

Just get whatever sounds interesting and try it out. You can eventually learn every skill, you know.

As for early stuff, I remember the fighter sword skill you get that swings your sword straight up is really useful against flying monsters like harpies.

The one that makes you run forward and lunge with your sword will be top notch for the entire game, too.

There are some minor advantages to being taller and heavier, but those are mostly evident when you're the warrior vocation, and they are so minor that you won't really notice a difference between playing the smallest, lighest character, and the tallest, heaviest character.

Being smaller does have its own advantages, though, like better stamina regeneration rates I think, as well has being a lot harder to hit.

Really just make whatever character you want.

Anyone running this at 1440p with a 970 (and a recent i5/i7)? What's the framerate like? I will assume easily above 60 for the most part, maybe even 90+?

Honestly, man? It's kind of hard to tell you. Every vocation is great in their own way (sans Mage but that only applies to Arisen). The game is rather versatile and will allow you to hop between whatever combination of vocations you want and I would highly suggest trying them all out until you find the one you like the most. Don't fret about it, just explore the game and have fun like everyone else did.

Assassin shield skills aren't really much to write home about. They're mostly the same as fighter's, but there's also a buff for attack power, and a skill that uses an enemy's attack to launch you into the air to do some sick stunts or to reposition.

Fighter shield skills are the best, especially the "sheltered spike" skill, which is tons of damage while also defending yourself.

Hard mode isn't that hard if you're familiar with game mechanics. Everything you encounter early game has severe weaknesses that can be exploited to trivialize the encounter. You're also given a massive boost in cash drops and experience gains to facilitate constant gear and skill upgrades. Personally I can't even play on Normal anymore because it just feels patronizing.

If it's your first or second time playing though, definitely avoid it.

Thanks for the input. All Hybrid vocations captured my attention for my Arisen, though I could use some first-hand experience on how well the AI perform in different roles. That being said, I assume Strider and "their" hybrids are meant to be played by the PC to be truly efficient.

My impression is that Fighter-based classes would be advantageous for first run, and though I like to play fragile but powerful builds Mystic Knight seem to be a safer yet almost as versatile option as Assassin. Not to mention that having a Healer Main Pawn seem to be invaluable.

Thus I can't help but think to a Fighter/MK + Healer/Support Mage combo for the beginnings, be it a cliché or not. I can't tell if I would able to reliably defend the Healer as an Assassin or how good are Pawns at tanking, so that's why I asked for some other recommendations above.

Each class plays to their own strengths, I suppose.

Warriors have highest base stagger and knock-down resistances which is handy early-game when every enemy attack can stagger you.

Fighters are great at blocking and countering. You can perfect block almost everything in the entire game provided you have the stamina to back it up.

Striders are built for scaling/grappling enemies. They climb monster faster and typically attack faster. They're typically the end-game cheese class with the two highest DPS abilities in the game.

Rangers are made for one thing only: Tenfold Flurry. They have a few other trick shots and are generally handy to have around, but at the end of the day you're just going to fall back on your main attack.

Mages are... well they're mages. They heal. They cast offensive spells. That's it. There's a staff in the game you can equip to pawns that make them revive after being K.Oed which is handy to have on a Mage pawn.

Sorcerers are mages but better. They don't heal, but they cast world-ender spells. Their magic scaling is way better, too.

Assassin is the glass canon of DD. It can switch between any combination of sword, bow, daggers and shield and has unique abilities for all of them. It has the highest strength gains in the game, but it gets piss-all returns for health and defenses. If you dodge good you won't get hit at all, but this is not advisable for first time players.

Mystic Knight is my personal favourite due to the insane scaling with some of its abilities (typically a 60/40 split of mag/str). The power to buff yourself and go charging into battle is fucking great.

Magick Archer is the most overpowered class when taking BBI into consideration. It has the best of both words: ridiculous spells that do astronomical amounts of damage as well as good physical attacks.
