My point is simple. Sonya is a bruiser. She shares attributes with melee assassins. But mechanically, at her core, she is a warrior, and she is a tank. Keep in mind I'm discussing without talents in mind, but only stats, basic abilities, heroics & their upgrades. I'm talking mechanically and not about who's tanking the best for their team, which heroic is meta or anything like that.

Whirlwind
As every single warrior in HotS, Sonya has a form of self-sustain. Warriors heal and shield themselves to last longer in battle, while Diablo's trait provides bonus health. Melee assassins also have self-sustain, but it's completely conbat-dependent. Only exception is Zeratul thanks to stealth and Blink, although even he gets life steal in the level 20 Nerazim Fury.

At their core kit, Sonya, Leoric and Artanis also sustain themselves through combat, and this brings them closer to assassins, but they remain warriors. Artanis can withstand punishment with repeated shields. Leoric has Wraith Walk to disengage, common asset of warriors. Sonya has Whirlwind.

Leap
Leap is like a Heroic form of a position tool some warriors have. Wraith Walk, Dwarf Toss, Burrow, El'Druin's Might. These can be used for engaging, escaping and positioning. Melee assasins on the other hand have movement tools that make them directly assault enemies: Ruthless Onslaught, Dive, The Hunt, Ravage, while Thrall has Feral Spirit to mostly achieve the same goal.

Final Words
Sonya's lack of cc doesn't make her a non-tank any more than it does Stitches, who has the opposite of Ancient Spear in Hook (though Slam could slow a bit). While she's a hybrid, she remains a front-line fighter that seeks punishment to offer the most to her team, damage absorption and good-ol' damage.

I can't stress this enough but, don't see this the wrong way. I'm not talking meta, or how well Sonya tanks. I'm explaining how her core kit is strictly that of a tank, with elements of assassins that make her a bruiser.

Balance patch is week after Greymane. I know you guys love to lose your shit, but the rescale patch was two months ago and massively shifted the meta, and Blizzard was on vacation for the last two weeks of December.

What I've been hoping for is a Starcraft themed battleground that utilizes aesthetics from all 3 races. I don't normally get upset about QM teamcomps, but this is an exception. It was an incredibly demoralizing game. I don't feel anyone played particularly BAD, we just... couldn't win.

We somehow were three levels down like, super early on, which I assume is due to lack of soak from Zera and Nova, because it wasn't like people were dying left and right.

It just... wasn't fun. Which is weird, because even BAD games are normally kind of fun.

The Nova was complete trash. I mean, mentally retarded. She started going B right next to the enemy wall. Missed snipes like a boss. Constantly dying 1v5 hoping to get a kill, usually on Jaina, who would just ice block.
