1)download starter kit on smealums github

2) delete any old hax payloads on SD card from when you were on 9.3+(if they're are .bin files on the root of you SD card delete them basically)

3)put starter kit and rxtools folder in the zip all on the root of your sd card

4)go to https://dukesrg.github.io/?rxTools/sys/code.bin in the browser so rxtools can install data for the first time.

5)once its done go into settings and choose "quick boot" and check it. now quit and this time run browserhax to install menuhax 2.1

6)once menuhax 2.1 is installed go to configurations and set it to autoboot. it will ask you to set a button to launch menuhax. tapping the touch screen is the autoboot option

7)turn off system and go download ctr boot manager from here

8)rename boot.3dsx on your sd card to boot_hb.3dsx

9)take the boot.cfg and boot.3dsx from ctrbootmanager and put it on root

10)turn on system

CTR boot manager keeps booting RxTools, then that auto-boots Menuhax, then that autoboots CTR, then that hangs on a red screen.

I've tried deleted the extdata folder and reinstalling Menuhax but it just takes me back to this frustrating cycle. What can I do?

Two questions:

I started going through the process of setting up rxTools, and then discovered a 4GB SD card is just too small for all of this. I have the hidden emunand partition still on the card, how do I remove it?

Is 64GB good, or should I go for 32GB? I vaguely remember someone advising against 64GB on gbatemp.

Instaled RxTools, injected FE:A (EU) .cia but that shit won't appear on the menu

Thought it was FBI so I injected the .cia for BigBlueMenu but this thing DID appear on the menu. Tried to inject FE:A with BBM and it still doesn't appear in the emunand menu (It does appear on the Data Managment though)

Will do, so is there a primer for emuNAND? I have a vague understanding for what it is, but it appears fairly easy to fuck up.

Also, how hard is it to upgrade cfw (for instance, if/when the 3.x branch becomes stable) and will that change anything in regards to the emunand setup. I have no Nintendo ID setup on the system (to my knowledge)

Dumb question, but can I just move everything on my SD to another and have emuNAND still be intact, or will I have to re-format emuNAND?

I need some help here.

The files at the top are in the root of the SD card.

The ones at the bottom at under \3ds\blargness and these files are booting blarg but any rom I load crashes at start up.

Are any of the files in the root of my card the issue? Can I delete some of these? I'm don't know what each ones goes to.

Can I set CFW up with the commonly linked n3ds-XL GBAtemp guide with the SD card that comes with the thing, or does it not have enough space? I have a 64gb card coming soon, which I know I can just clone the old one onto it, but I want to do this asap before 10.4 comes out and fucks recovering from softbricks. Is it also possibly to follow that guide without ever removing the card from the device? Like above I have a reader coming along with the new card but don't have one right now.

I don't want to lose my opportunity because the stock card is too shitty.

I made that original post, and it's now occurred to me, for it to autodownload the correct payload, I probably need to delete the previous payload I was using. Only thing is I don't know what the file is called or where it is. There's something called webkithax_tmp at the root, is it that maybe?
I think I've got emunand working anyway, but there's nothing in my SD card to indicate anything is there. I'm going to assume that's correct and just format the sysnand anyway.

When using CFW how does emulating work?

What emulators are available? Do I have to use emulators through home brew or are there different options?

What are good sites for downloading .cias?
What games have english patches?

So, there IS a way for N3DS users to update to 9.5 and then spoof firmware. I did it myself yesterday. Unfortunately, I'm unable to connect to the Nintendo Network because of that 022 error. Does anybody know how to get past it since 9.5 is the only supported emuNAND firmware?

You mean the Savegame manager homebrew? Well if you can run homebrew you can run the app. Runing homebrew on <10.3 should be easier depending on the version you are on, since browserhax and menuhax both work on 10.3 (and therefore, should work on anything <10.3)

Don't know if n3ds differs from o3ds in that regard since I don't have a n3ds (WHO /POORFAG/ HERE)

I want to update my 3DS to 10.3. In order to be able to still use homebrew, I need to download the correct payload from Smealum's site (in this case 10.3.0-28), and put it in the root of my SD card for menuhax/ironhax to work after updating, right?

So everytime I back out of emuNAND system settings, I also got kick out to sysNAND. Any fix?

I'm getting really fucking confused at how this emunand shit works. I'm pretty sure I formatted my sysnand (took the sd card out before setup was complete, used TinyFormat - the fuck is the point of that thing), and all my downloaded games were gone. Thought that made sense, but now I've gone into rxtools and launched emunand, and my games are STILL all gone. It says RX3D or whatever in the settings, but I don't want to update because there is no evidence anywhere that my sysnand and my emunand aren't the exact same thing, assuming my old Nintendo 3DS folder is just leftovers.

The one problem i'm having is trying to boot rxtools from ctrbootmanager. If I go to launch.rxtools.net I can load into emunand just fine, but when I selected "launch rxtools" from ctrbootmanager, it shows the rxtools screen for a second and then both screens go black.

Do I need to unlink my nands? I have no idea how any of this works

I guess something got fucked up when I backed up my emunand. I formatted the SD card, put all the files back on and now it's telling me that the browser version isn't supported when I try to load Homebrew. Is there some way I can wipe this all and reinstall stuff?
